The trailer of Geethanjali Malli Vachindi, featuring Anjali, Srinivas Reddy, Satyam Rajesh, Satya, Shakalaka Shankar and Sunil, will give you all sorts of spooky vibes but with a dash of humour. It was unveiled at AAA Cinemas, Hyderabad on Wednesday, with the cast and crew in attendance.
Close to two-and-a-half minutes in length, the trailer opens with Sanakkayala Srinu (Srinivas Reddy), an aspiring director explaining a scene to Anjali. As per the scene, Anjali wakes up in the middle of the night after hearing someone weeping. Curious, as she slowly walks towards the sound, she spots a ghost much to her shock. Welcome to the horror world of Kona Venkat. Srinu soon finds a dilapidated house to shoot his film. He assembles a team – his friends played by Satyam Rajesh and Satya as acting talents and Nani (Sunil) as his cinematographer. Another scene envisioned by him requires Anjali to prove that ghosts exist while Satyam Rajesh is hell-bent on proving her wrong. Lo and behold, three ghosts spring out of nowhere. Sunil gets spooked by them and questions Srinu whether the house is a haunted one. To save his film, Srinu answers they are method actors. There’s a ton of fun that generates because of the ghosts' participation in the shoot and the cast and crew interacting with them as if they are real method actors. What follows next? The answer will unravel only in theatres on April 11th.
Overall, the trailer seems to be a deadly concoction of horror and humour, a genre which has many takers. Filled with wacky characters and what seem to be clever twists on well-trodden tropes, the trailer succeeds in throwing dozens and dozens of gags, promising a joyous theatergoing experience for the audience. The likes of Srinivas Reddy, Rajesh, Satya and Sunil are in fine form, with their one-liners eliciting tons of laughs.
Presented by Kona Venkat and produced by MVV Cinema and Kona Film Corporation banners, Geethanjali Malli Vachindi marks the directorial debut of choreographer Shiva Thorlapati, while Praveen Lakkaraju is the music composer.
