Leading production house Mythri Movie Makers on Sunday dropped the trailer of Manjummel Boys in Telugu and to describe it absolutely gripping would be a gross understatement.

The two-and-a-half minute trailer opens with a group of kids playing hide and seek before it cuts to show the overview of Devil’s Kitchen aka the famous Guna Caves, which shot to prominence after the 1991 Kamal Haasan-starrer Guna. The boys grow up to be Manjummel Boys and one fine day they embark on a trip to Kodaikanal. Their trip turns into a harrowing experience when one of the friends falls into the deepest pits in the cave. Helpless, the rest of them approach cops to seek their assistance but they get badly beaten as Guna Caves is strictly a forbidden place for sightseeing. The rest of the trailer centres on the rescue operation by the friends, neighbors and cops.

Overall, the trailer is an adrenaline-packed ride promising to offer a rollercoaster of emotions. The director cleverly cuts from the childhood episodes of the friends to them growing up and facing a challenge that alters their lives. It seems more about travel and camaraderie. The production values and cinematography are top-notch, while the Telugu dubbing is seamless. The background score hits the right notes and heightens the tension.

Featuring an ensemble cast consisting of Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, Ganapathi, Deepak Parambol, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Jean Paul Lal, Arun Kurian, Khalid Rahman Chandu Salimkumar and Vishnu Raghu, Manjummel Boys, written and directed by Chidambaram, is slated to hit cinemas on April 6th.
