Attention Rebel star Prabhas fans. Here’s some good news for you. Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who is fresh off the massive success of Animal, has completed writing 60 percent of Spirit. He intends to take the film to floors this December. “The kind of character I wrote, the kind of fan following Prabhas garu has, the kind of persona he has, I feel it will be a great match,” Sandeep said in an interview to Galatta Plus.

On how the project transpired, Sandeep recalled, “During the pandemic break, I was offered a film by Prabhas garu. However, it didn’t materialize. I was approached for a Hollywood remake. He said, ‘If you are interested, let’s do it.’ Later I said the Hollywood idea was not working for me. I told him that an original idea would be great for him. I added that if at all something great strikes me; I will come and narrate it to him. At that time I was in the process of writing Animal. And because of the pandemic, there were so many breaks. Suddenly I got an idea. Then I rang him before meeting him. I told him, ‘This is the title, this is the character’. He said, ‘That’s it, let’s do it’.”

Is he going to enter the mass zone with a star like Prabhas’ stature? “I don’t know. I never thought about those flying fights. Let’s see. I want to explore and see,” he replied.

How much of his writing style is he infusing into a star like Prabhas? “I think that’s the whole idea of him accepting the story. He felt his characterization was so different and so will be the journey. I feel I should go with whatever I visualize,” Vanga stated.

Sandeep further added that the film will be mounted on a budget of Rs 300 crore. “For Prabhas garu, it’s a valid budget. I feel the producer is safe. Our combination, satellite, digital rights and everything… We are going to recover our budgets there itself. If everything goes well with the teaser, trailer and songs in the run up to the release, the opening day would be Rs 150 crore,” noted.
