Although the project’s commencement is around the corner, developments about top-drawer director SS Rajamouli’s next with superstar Mahesh Babu have been few and far between. However, at a special screening of his box office behemoth RRR in Japan recently, the director shed some light about the status of his highly anticipated next.

“We completed the writing. We're in the pre-production process for the film; we are doing all the pre-visualization. But, we haven't finished the casting yet. Only the main hero, the protagonist of the film, is locked. His name is Mahesh Babu. He's a Telugu actor and looks like many of you already know him. He's very handsome,” Rajamouli shared much to the delight of the turnout.

He added, "Hopefully, we finish the film a little bit fast and during the release, I will bring him here and I will introduce him to you. And surely you will love him as well.”

A globe-trotting action adventure, the untitled project will mark Durga Arts chief KL Narayan’s return to the production fold after 2006 release Rakhi, while PS Vinod will be the cinematographer. MM Keeravani will be discharging the duties of a composer. The set work, it is believed, has already started and Rajamouli has once again chosen Aluminium Factory near Lingampalli to shoot a major chunk of the film. The production is set to kick off this June.
