Tips enters Telugu market
Tips Audio that is ruling the roost in Hindi audio market will be making splash in Telugu audio by releasing audio of EVV's latest project 'Maa Aavida Meda Ottu .. Mee Aavida Chaala Manchidi' (MAMOMACM). As of today, we have two main players in Telugu audio in the form of Aditya and Supreme. The other players include HMV that has a niche market and higher pricing, Mayuri Audio that primarily markets the audio of Usha Kiron's movies. Mani Sharma's recording out fit Mahati Audio is doing occasional audio recordings. Sabdayala audio is another startup from MS arts. WE have to wait and see how Tips is going to price it's audio and what penetration they are going to make in Telugu audio market. Lahari audio that was omnipresent at one point of time is washed out from the Telugu audio market. Audio of MAMOMACM will be launched in December.
Telugu cinema CD price settles down at Rs. 99/-
It's been two years the digital revolution started in Telugu cinema audio industry. Telugu cinema CD's are initially priced at Rs 250/-. The first step to decrease the price was taken by Nag, when he made the CD's 'Prema Katha' available at a price of s 150/-. Following the success of CD's sales at economical rights, most of the other films had to resort for Rs 150/-. But Chiru released his 'Iddaru Mitrulu' CD for Rs 250/-. He could not help lowering the rate of his 'Annayya' CD to Rs 150/- to get more sales. The second step of economizing the CD was taken by Supreme audio, when they released the CD of Vamsi for a paltry sum of Rs 50/-. It clicked though the intentions of Supreme were different. Next Azad released its CD for a price of Rs 100/-. But it's Jayam Manadera that set the right price of Rs 99/- for its CD. And other films followed. Most of the films that are being released now are priced at Rs 99/- (example College and Maa Annayya). But HMV is making no changes to its CD prices as it's still maintaining the stubborn Rs 250/- range. Usha Kiron's Mayuri audio is pricing its CDs at a rate of Rs 110/-. But the ultimate winner is going to be the Telugu cinema music lover and the penetrative market of CD players in Andhra.
Devi Putrudu audio on 6th of December
After the festival release of 'Jayam Manadera', now focus shifts to Venky's next release 'Devi Putrudu'. Devi putrudu is releasing for Sankrati on 11th of January. Audio of this film is slated for release on 6th of December. Mani Sharma is providing music for this film. Interestingly Mani Sharma will be put under heavy inspection as all the releases of Sankranti have Mani Sharma as the music director. The films are Mrigaraju (Chiru), Devi Putrudu (Venky), Narasimha Naidu (Balayya) and Murari (Mahesh). Devi Putrudu is the costliest film for Venky so far and is having Venky doing two roles as a tappori and Archeologist. This film is being released in Tamil as 'Paapa' simultaneously. Soundarya and Anjala Zhaveri are playing female leads. Kodi Rama Krishna is the director.
Venky on a song
Venky is on a song following the huge success of 'Jayam Manadera'. The producer of Jayam Manadera has organized triple platinum disk function at 'Vishwanath Theater', Kukatpally on Monday. Vandemataram Srinivas, who has composed 80 films so far, has done music for any of the top four heroes with this film for the first time. Venky felt that the character of 'Mahadeva Naidu' is the finest and most powerful character done by him so far. Vandemataram Srinivas sung a couple of songs to enthuse the Kukatpally Engineering college students, who came in hoards. The lyricist Chandrabose too sung a song to the delight of audience. The other celebrities who graced the event include Shankar (director), Suresh Babu (producer), Paruchuri brothers (writers) and Siva Parvati.
Vamsi platinum disk function
Vamsi's audio has finished selling 3 lacs of copies. On this occasion, Padmalaya movies is dishing out yet another reason for Mahesh Babu fans to smile. They are organizing a grandeur function at CR Reddy college grounds in Eluru. We are tipped of that this audio function may turn out to be a massive public function to show of the fan following and prove the charisma of Mahesh as the future Megastar. Incidentally, Vamsi is deprived of good publicity both in print and TV media as Superstar Krishna was touring USA till 11th of this month and Vamsi was busy with Murari. As Superstar is back in India, we can expect a huge promotion to boost up the record creating collections of Vamsi. Another reason to choose Eluru is being it was the Superstar Krishna's constituency, which has made him an MP earlier. It is also being the hometown of Ambika Krishna, who is going to produce a film with Mahesh in future. Ambika Krishna is making no stone unturned to show his loyalty to Mahesh by taking the onus of function organization. Incidentally the price of Vamsi CD is hiked from Rs 50/- to Rs 75/-.
Jayaprada does an 'Anuradha Padwal'
Jayaprasa who sang for few films like 'Seetaramulu' in the past is going to repeat the act. She is going to sing for a devotional albun of Shirdi Sai Baba. This album is going to be produced by Vasu Multimedia. Sai Laxman is providing the music. Out of 7 songs in this album, Jaya Prada would sing 5 of them. She is planning to do a video for a song. 40% of the profits on the album would go to Jayaprada Charitable trust and Shirdi Sai Baba Trust each. Seetarama Sastry, Sai Laxman and Vithal are writing songs for this album.
Azaad triple platinum disk function
This how it works. First the audio cassettes/C's would be released into the market. And after a week, the producer of the film arranges a press meet and announces that the album of their film was sold out in the four days of release and we are going to organize the triple platinum disk function. And the producer makes it sure that the triple platinum function is arranged in the early days after the release of the film so that they can celebrate it in the theater in which film is running. Thats what is happened to 'Azaad'. Sai Baba, executive producer has announced that 3 lac copies of their film's album were sold. The earlier films used to celebrate their platinum disk functions in RTC crossroads theaters. But for a change Vyjayanti film is opting for Vijayawada. They are going to organize the Platinum disc function in Swarna Palace theater of Vijayawada. The guests who are going to grace the occasion includes Nag, Soundarya and Prakash Raj.
Rajasekhar's film audio sold for 18 lacs
SA Raj Kumar is the happening man in Telugu Audio industry. His blockbusters of the year Kalisundam Raa, Nuvvu Vastavani and Ninne Premista made his latest audio album with Rajasekhar sold of Rs 18 lacs. It's a remake film of 'Vanattai Pola'. Incidentally 18 lacs is ighest amount paid for any of Rajasekhar starring films audio rights. Earlier highest paid amount for Rajasekhar's film audio rights was 8 lacs for Ravanna. His earlier films Okkadu Chaalu and Manasunna Maraju fetched 4 lacs and 6 lacs respectively for audio rights. Songs of this film will hit the market during Vijaya Dasami.
HMV procures 44 audio rights in 2 months
HMV audio is back with audio rights grabbing spree. It has cornered the audio rights of 44 films in the gap of three months in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil. The prominent Telugu film audio rights it grabbed are 'Baachi', Sri Srimati Satyabhama', 'Tirumala Tirupati Venkatesa', 'Tenali', Sridevi Aryts (Balayya film) and Sri Manjunatha. HMV has restricted itself to the high profile Tamil dubbed films in Telugu for audio rights like 'Premikula Roju', 'Narasimha', 'Sakhi', 'Priyuralu Pilichindi' and 'Rhythem' in the past. Now HMV attacked the direct Telugu audio market by grabbing the rights of 'Baachi', 'Tirupati Tirumala Venkatesa' and 'Sridevi Arts film'. Aditya and Supreme are the reigning kings of Telugu audio market so far. HMV may turn out to be a potential competitor to them if HMV comes out of Rs 250/- a CD brackets to Rs 150/- a CD. HMV's latest offing in Telugu, Rhythem sold 3 lacs of cassettes in a short span, because of AR Rehman's music.
Manjunatha Audio sold for 1.2 crores
Manjunatha, a film on the super God of Kannadiga is making waves in Kannada audio by getting sold for 1.2 crores to HMV for Kannada, Telugu and Tamil audio rights. And 1.2 is a highest amount grabbed by any Kannada film. K Raghavenrda Rao, who brought the famous Annamayya to screen in Telugu, is directing this film. Nara Jayasridevi, who is producing Vandemataram with Vijayashanti is the heroine. The main cast of Manjunatha includes Chiranjeevi, Arjun and Soundarya. This film will sport 12 songs and a few slokas. Hamsalekha, a popular Kannada music director is composing the music for this film. Megastar Chiru is acting in this film as Lord Shiva. The shooting of this film came stand still for the past one and half months due to the unfortunate kidnap of Dr. Raj Kumar.
