Bobby
Audio through Gemini TV program
Every
season has a style and fad of celebrating things in Telugu
films. The latest fad of releasing audio is through a program
called 'Aata Kavala.. Paata kavala' from Gemini TV. It started
with the release of 'Sontham' audio a couple of months back.
Then RP and Usha virtually unveiled Gemini's audio a couple
of week ago through the same program. This time, even RK Associates
is planning to release audio of Bobby virtually through this
Gemini TV program on 6th of this month (which falls on Sunday).
The audio would hit stands on 7th of October. So there would
not be any audio function for Bobby this time. Mani Sharma
provides music.
Smita's
live performance in Gulf
Pop
singer Smita
has been invited to perform at Dubai, Qatar and Kuwait. She
is leaving for Dubai on the 29th of May 2002. This is her
second performance outside the country. The first performance
was in USA at TANA in Philadalphia last year. After her return
on the 3rd of June, she will be proceeding to Calcutta and
Bangladesh for similar shows.
Indra audio on 6th June
Mani
Sharma has given six scintillating tunes for Chiranjeevi's
latest offing Indra. One of the songs includes a melodious
song written on the holy city Varanasi. Veturi pens the lyrics
and Hariharan sings that song. The unit of Indra is traveling
to Switzerland to can songs on 16th of this month. Climax
of Indra would be shot in the month of June. This film is
expected to hit the marquee in the 3rd week of July. Sonali
Bendre and Arti Agrawal are paired up with Chiranjeevi in
this film.
Santosham

release of Nagarjuna's film 'Santosham' would be celebrated
in popular style in Vijayawada amidst the cheers of the fans

auditorium for the mega event. RP Patnaik is going to conduct
a musical night on that occasion. He will perform all his
popular songs along with Santosham songs. Santosham sports
six songs and two theme music bits. Incidentally, this is
first opportunity RP Patnaik has got to do music for a big
hero. Sreya and Gracy Singh are paired up with Nagarjuna in
this film. Prabhudeva makes special appearance. Nagarjuna,
Prabhudeva, Gracy Singh, Sreya, Brahmanandam, Kota, Sunil,
Pruthvi, LB Sriram, Ahuti Prasad and Paruchuri Brothers would
grace the audio function on 14th April.

of youth) would be released by Aditya Audio in a public function
to be held in Hyderabad on 20th of March 2002. There would
be six songs in the film composed by Harris Jayaraj (of Cheli
fame). Harris Jayaraj has taken this music love story as a
challenging issue as it makes him inroads into straight Telugu
music field. Venky plays the role of Vasu, who aspires to
become a musician with the help of heroine Bhumika Chawla.
The shooting of entire film is complete except for a song
to be canned on Bhumika Chawla and Venky in Annapurna studios
in the month end. This film is getting ready for the release
as Ugadi special on 12th of April 2002.

2
lakhs of units sold out for Takakri Donga
Mahesh
Babu's 'Takkri Donga' audio, which was released yesterday,
is selling like hot cakes. Mani Sharma's thumping music is
the added attraction as the racks in audio shops emptied by
evening on Monday. The delighted audio maker Sai Vasu told
idlebrain.com that this is the kind of craze only Chiranjeevi
audio generates. The expectations in this film soaring new
heights every day. According to insiders, what is there in
audio is just a tip of iceberg. The real thrill comes out
in terms of rerecording and DTS effect when we watch this
film on the big screen. The audio producer has got repeat
orders on the day one and he is sending second set of audio
pack to all the shops across AP.
Dadasaheb
Phalke Award for Asha Bhosle
Playback
singer Asha Bhosle has been selected for the Dadasaheb Phalke
Award for the year 2000. The award carries a cash price of
Rs 200,000, a shawl and a swarna kamal [golden lotus], an
official announcement said on Thursday. The award was instituted
in 1969 to commemorate the outstanding contribution to the
Indian film industry of the late Dadasaheb Phalke, the country's
first filmmaker. President K R Narayanan will give away the
prestigious award at Rashtrapati Bhavan later this year. In
Telugu, Dr. Akkineni Nageswara Rao received this award in
the past.
Snehamante
Idera audio on 6th of October
Audio
of Nagarjuna-Bhumika Chawla combination film 'Snehamante Idera'
is going to be released on 6th of October. This film is expected
to hit marquee on 26th of this month as Vijaya Dasami special.
Shiva Shankar, who has given melodious music for Priyamaina
Neeku, did score music for Snehamante Idera. Sumanth and Pratyusha
are also acting in this film. RB Chowdary is producing this
successful Tamil remake on Supergood films banner. Aditya
music is releasing the audio albums. Bala Sekharan of 'Priyamaina
Neeku' fame is directing this film.
Nuvvu
Naaku Nachav platinum disk function
The
music of Nuvvu Naaku Nachav is acting like a slow poison as
the release date of the film is approached. The net savvy
producer Sravanti Ravi Kishore, who does not want to be left
behind on the cyber front, informed idlebrain.com to mention
about the official web site http://www.nachchav.com
to the visitors of idlebrain.com. In the platinum disk audio
function held by Aditya Music, the unit of 'Nuvvu Naaku Nachav'
celebrated the selling of 3 lakhs of albums. Koti has given
music. Venkatesh, who is back from his month long USA trip
looked refreshing in the function. This film is slated for
released tomorrow (6th September 2001).
Varma's
Deyyam tune for PTKK
Talk
about recycling! In the earlier article we have talked about
the songs of Prema Katha being recycled into Varma's Hindi
films Jungle and Ryar Tune Kya Kiya (PTKK). Here is another
revelation. The title tune of Varma's horror film 'Deyyam'
is used to tune the title song of 'Pyar Tune Kya Kiya'. This
tune underlines the psyche of the neurotic character played
by Urmila in that film. Is Verma running out of good tunes
or is he having narcissism with his past works?
5
lakhs of Kushi albums sold
Aditya
Music Company that is come to existence way back in 1991 has
recorded and sold more than 700 albums so far. Kushi, the
latest offing from Aditya Music has sold more than 5 lakhs
of album so far. Aditya has organized a triple platinum disk
function at Sandhya 70 mm in Hyderabad on 13th May 2001. Kushi
is the highest selling album from Aditya so far. According
to unofficial sources, Nuvve Kavali audio is the most sold
album in Telugu Cinema industry so far. It has sold more than
10 lakhs copies so far. In Kushi audio, no single singer was
repeated in the songs, which added enormous freshness, which
came as a welcoming change from Pawan Kalyan who has monotonous
tone of Ramana Gogula for his past two films.
Varma
lifts Prema Katha songs
There
are a few films in Telugu where the songs created a rage and
the film turned out to be a damp squib. Prema katha is one
of them. But the director of this film, tried to give these
tunes a second chance to be an integral part of a hit film.
One of these songs is 'Hungama' song, which is used in Jungle's
Tiger Ranch song. The second one is 'Devudu Karunistadani'
which is translated and used in the recently released varma's
film 'Pyar Tune kaya Kiya'. This song comes in the second
half of the film between Fardeen khan and Sonali Kulakarni.
For the starters, 'Pyar Tune Kya Kiya' is a free make of Hollywood
flick 'Fatal Attraction'.
Koti
lifts two tunes for Nuvve Kavali
Talk
about the plagiarism. In the last week, we talked about SA
Raj Kumar. Lets take on Koti this week. We do aware that Koti
got a new lease of life after the staggering hit of Nuvve
Kavali film and audio. But the dark secret of the audio is
that the most popular tunes 'Anaganaga Akasam Vundi' and 'Shukriya
Shukriya' are lifted from it's Malayalam original 'Niram'.
Jesudas sang these two songs in original and Telugu music
director Vidya Sagar gave the music for that film. It's ironic
that our Telugu directors are unable to get the right tunes
from the Telugu indigenous music directors and these people
are proving their prowess in other languages. The latest Telugu
direct film for which Vidya Sagar scored music was Chakri's
Suri.
SA
Raj Kumar - turns the copy cat
SA
Raj Kumar is the most sought after music director in Telugu
cinema industry after Mani Sharma. But, unfortunately, he
could not deliver goods for the producers other than RB Chowdary.
And he is failing miserably to score fast paced music. Only
Kalisundam Raa is an exception for which he has given racy
hit tunes. When forced to give racy tunes, he is content in
lifting tunes from Hindi films. The latest example is 'Akka
Bavekkada'. Surprisingly, all the six songs in this film are
the products of blatant plagiarism. The most astonishing thing
about SA Raj Kumar is that producers are still thronging to
him to get him score music for their films. Other talented
music directors like RK Patnaik and Sri are waiting for the
opportunities. But our producers are more interested in lifted
insipid tunes by SA Raj Kumar than giving opportunities to
the budding music talent of AP.
Kushi
sells like hot cake
The
proprietor of Vijaya Madhuri electronics in Ongole was beaming
with smile when we visited his shop on last Sunday. Making
a cool profit of Rs 12,000/- by selling 4000 cassettes (margin
per piece being three rupees) of Kushi on last Friday was
the smiling factor for him. It's not just in Ongole, the audio
of Kushi was sold like hot cake all over Andhra and Umesh
Gupta, the supreme of Aditya audio, declared that three lakhs
of copies were sold on the day one. Incidentally, the Hindi
song in that album became more popular than other numbers.
Murari
triple platinum disk
Murari
audio achieved the feat of selling 3 lakhs of albums. A triple
platinum disk function was held at YuvRaj Theater in Vijayawada
to celebrate this occasion. Supreme Audio and Sri Laxmi Pictures,
who has taken the distribution of Murari in Krishna district,
organized this function. Mahesh Babu has selected Mr. Satish
as the winner of Muari Jeep among the 1.8 lakhs of participants.
Mahesh Babu, Nandigam Rama Lingeswara Rao, Mani Sharma and
Sivaji Raja attend this function. Krishna Vamsi, the director
of the film, is conspicuously missing just like the 'Abhinandana
Sabha' of the film.
Raja
Vannemreddy turns singer with Akka Bavekkada
Raja
Vannemreddy, who gave a blockbuster 'Kshemamga velli Labhamga
Randi' and a blooper 'Choosoddam Randi' in the last year is
directing a film for Taranga Subramanyan in which Chakri,
Raasi and Asha Saini are playing main leads. This film is
titled as 'Akka Bavekkada'. Kovai Sarala is playing the ambitious
mom of Chakri. Another speciality of this film is going to
be a copied version of 'mehabooba mehabooba' song of Hindi
blockbuster Sholey. This song is going to be sung by the director
Raja Vannemreddy. This film is supposed to belong to the genre
of comedy of errors. Talkie part of this film would be completed
by 14th of this month. The entire shooting would be over by
15th Feb 2001.
Balu
gets a raw deal!
As
the Sankrathi season is dawning upon Telugu cinema, the audio
releases are happening at frantic pace. If we observe the
audio of Devi Putrudu, Narasimha Naidu and Mrigaraju, we find
Balu singing only three songs out of 18 songs. The most surprising
thing is that for the first time Chiru has avoided a song
by Balu in his 134 films career. Devi Putrudu sports two songs
by Balu and Narasimha Naidu has one song by Balu. On the contrary
the non-Telugu trio Shankar Mahadevan, Udit Narayan and Sukhvinder
Singh sung at least a song each for this film. In an interview
to idlebrain.com (to be appeared on this web site soon), Gudipoodi
Srihari (a senior telugu cinema critic) mentioned that Udit
Narayan is paid around 60,000/- per song. Sukhvinder Singh
demands around Rs 20,000/- per song. Where SP Balu gets a
paltry amount of Rs 10,000 to Rs 12,000 per song. This is
the situation of Telugu cinema songs in the new millennium.
For Mrigaraju, Udit failed to utter the starting lyric 'Ele
Elele' properly. We sincerely hope that Balu, Mano and other
upcoming native Telugu singers strike back and get the Telugu
cinema music the good old days!
