Vamsy
and Chakri after delivering a musical comedy
hit Avunu Valliddaru Istapaddaru (AVI), team
up again for Dongaramudu and Party to recreate
the same magic. Srikanth and Laya are
the lead pair in this movie produced by ML Kumar
Choudhary. If Vamsy made Kalyani a star in AVI,
one expects the same to happen to Laya with this movie
who very well deserves it.
Chakri's
melodious music for this album surpasses the melodies
he composed for AVI. With such a good soundtrack,
Chakri's combination with Vamsy shows immense promise
of being compared with Vamsy - Ilayaraja combination
that gave us numerous melodies to hum and harp on. Just
when we were enjoying the enchanting breeze of melodies
that Chakri delivered for Oka Raju Oka Rani,
he comes up with another wonderful album here.
As
many as four lyricists - Peddada Murthy, Tanikella
Shankar, Sai Sriharsha, Bommakanti - write lyrics
for six songs in this album and all of them do a good
job. After a long time, SPB is seen singing almost
all the songs in an album except one song which is sung
by Srinivas. Sujatha also gets to sing
5 songs while Sunitha sings one song. It's really
a pleasure to listen to singers who just sing the songs
and not sink them. This album scores heavily in this
aspect and why not? especially when SPB is singing most
of the songs.
1.
Sirisiri Mallena (Listen)
This song is about the hero, who is a thief, falling
in love. A beautiful number sung soothingly by SPB
and Sujatha. Peddada Murthy's lyrics,
where the guy puts forth his novel and never-experienced-before
feelings and the girl elaborates them and helps him
translate those mushy feelings as love, are good. Chakri's
usage of Sujatha's humming [aaha] both in a sub-dued
and in a normal manner in the pallavi adds a
good effect to the song.
2.
Preme panchami vennela i (Listen)
This one's an instant winner from Chakri. Though the
orchestration sounds typical of Vamsy movie songs, this
song has a winning tune to its credit. Lyrics by Peddada
Murthy talking about prema are sweet. SPB
and Sujatha, with their sweet rendition, add
enough saccharine to this number. The way Peddada defines
love as - leni poni oohalanni premale suma -
is sweet too.
3.
Chalirathiri Vastavani (Listen)
Another melodious number by Chakri which has Srinivas
and Sujatha spreading their singing charm. While
the pallavi and charanams are slow paced,
the music in the interludes is at a faster pace comparatively.
Tanikella Shankar's lyrics are a delight that make this
song sound different from the usual love duets.
4.
Edo edo teeyani daaham (Listen)
This one's a sweet dulcet. Sai Sriharsha, who
has written wonderful lyrics for Vamsy's AVI,
again shows his prowess in this song talking about teeraleni
taapam. While Chakri uses good orchestration to
create fitting mood for the song, SPB and Sunitha,
with their heavenly rendition add life to the song.
The humming by a male voice that adds to the mood of
the song, used in the pallavi of the song is not credited
for. (Is it Chakri's voice?)
5.
Kallallone Nuvvu (Listen)
The way this song starts off and the chorus used in
the song gives a feeling that this is a typical Vamsy
film song. But as the song progresses, that familiarity
feeling recedes. With a slightly faster pace and beats
compared to the other songs in this album, this song
serves to be a dance number. Lyrics by Bommakanti
are easy on ears and SPB and Sujatha sing
this one well. Though this one's an average number compared
to the other songs in this album, it is catchy.
6.
Vannelunna Naari (Listen)
Though this song reminds of some old songs, it nevertheless
is impressive. This is the only song in this album that
has certain Hindi and English words in the lyrics. But
their usage does not come across as forced. Tanikella
Shankar's lyrics which are in a lighter vein talk
about the hero's motives behind robbery and his explanations
for the same. Again, SPB and Sujatha sound
good together.
Over all, the album has melody written all over it.
All the songs are melodious just varying in the degree
of melody. While most of them are instantly likeable,
the remaining ones grow on you in the second hearing
itself. Good lyrics, soothing music, appropriate choice
of singers, which are typical of Vamsy's movies, are
the striking streaks of this album too making it a winner
all the way. Splendid job by Chakri who gives us the
best album so far this year.
