Cinematography
is one of the vital components of movies. Cinematographers
work in close conjunction with directors, costume designers,
art directors and the actors. In the process of doing
their job they get to master all the fields of movie
making and its only natural for cinematographers to
slowly graduate to the next level of movie making, that
is direction. Well known cinematographers like Santosh
Sivan [director of: Halo, Terrorist, Asoka],
Rajeev Menon [dir of: Merupu Kalalu, Priyuralu Pilichindi],
PC Sreeram [dir of: Kamal Hassan's Drohi], Jeeva
[dir of: 12B] and our very own Hari Anumolu [dir of:
Police Report], Teja [dir of: Chitram, Nuvvu
Nenu, Jayam etc] have turned towards direction after
working as cinematographers.
Now
its Rasool's turn to take up direction with this
movie after working as a cinematographer for movies
like Gulabi, Little Soldiers, Chitram, Daud, Nuvvu
Nenu etc. Sreeram [of Roja Poolu fame] and
Aarti Chabria [of Tumse Achha Kaun Hain, Aawara Paagal
Deewana fame] make their debut in Telugu through
this movie, which is produced by Kiran under Anandi
Arts banner.
MM
Keeravani, as stated by himself in the audio function,
has definitely tried his best to propel this album into
the bracket of Kshana Kshanam and his other Hindi
albums with captivating melodies. I always used to wonder
why Keeravani does not create the same magic as he does
when he steps into the shoes of MM Kreem and now I have
an answer. When not succumbing to the demand of hero's
image, when not yielding to a director's request for
'flowery' and 'fruit'ful music, Keeravani enjoying his
freedom cleary translates his own enjoyment into our
enchantment. His orchestration in each song of this
album speaks volumes of the change one can notice compared
to his recent albums.
All
the lyrics in this album (except Vellipothe Ela,
which is written by Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry)
are written by Chandrabose, who has formed quite
an inseparable team with Keeravani since Student
No.1 till recent Simhadri. After Chandrabose's
work for Simhadri, the lyrics in this album come
as a welcome change.
1.
Vellipothe Ela
A nice number that attracts you in the very first hearing.
Keeravani mellows down his tone to give this
song a fitting rendition (listen to his voice in Allo
Nerrello song to understand what I mean). Sirivennela's
lyrics that initially say Vellipothe Ela and
then Vellanante Ela, mainly talk about the guy's
enthusiam and eagerness in love. The orchestration in
this song imparts right mood to the song. Shreya
Ghosal can be heard in the background humming.
2.
Nadira Dhinna
This one's a beautiful melody sung effectively by Karthik
and Ganga (though she falters with her pronunciation
of 'Sa' as 'Sha'). But both of them do a good job. Keeravani
adds his beauty to this number with an arresting orchestration.
Chandrabose's lyrics are okay.
3.
Ekkadunnavamma
A cool breezy number about a guy in search of a girl
based on her given name Subbalakshmi. Chandrabose
uses the last names of almost all the persons of Telugu
film industry in this song. His lyrics are impressive
and make this song a different one in its genre - songs
in which the guy is searching for his girl. SPB,
as usual, sleepwalks this song with the ease of a veteran.
4.
Nuvve Na Swasa
This one grows on you on repeating listening. It is
composed caressingly, sung sweetly by Shreya Ghoshal
and worded wonderfully by Chandrabose. While
Shreya impresses with her singing, her improper utterances
of certain words could not be masked by the sweetness
in her voice. Keeravani uses bits of music from
his background score for Jism in this song to a good
effect.
5.
Ghatu Prema
Another impressive number that progresses smoothly from
a medium pace to a fast pace. Sung by Tippu and
Nithya Santoshini. Nithya, for starters she is
the one who sang Na Manasukemayyindi [Nuvve
Nuvve], shines in this song stealing the thunder
from Tippu. Chandrabose's lyrics talk about ghatu
prema of a guy and a girl, whose dil maange more!
6.
Allo Nerello
Sounds more like a situational marriage number that
might look good on screen. Ganga and Keeravani
sing this one. Chandrabose writes good lyrics.
Overall, this album is Keeravani's best work in recent
times. Without many Keeravani trademark beats (like
in Gangotri), without the presence of incoherent
lyrics (like in Simhadri), this album is a must-buy
for music lovers and Keeravani (and MM Kreem's) fans.
While Chandrabose's lyrics are good adding to the beauty
of the songs, Keeravani induces impressive orchestration
into each song of the album. Irrespective of the fate
of the movie, success is destined to embrace this album.
Now, isn't that an example of Okariki Okaru?
