Ad Club of Hyderabad elects new committee
The old certainties of ad making and the triumphalism of the new-age communication and marketing have already given way to an ever-shifting ways of advertising; in this three-decade journey, Ad Club, Hyderabad have been the mirror to the flux. August 26th saw a new beginning, The Ad Club, Hyderabad AGM, ad fraternity’s most anticipated evening calling for the change of guard at the executive committee and the roadmap for the future.
The conclave, more than lived up to the tradition as the evening had the finest minds in advertising and marketing witness the new committee members take oath and office. The Rain Club Lounge Banjara Hills, perched on the 7th floor, provided for the perfect backdrop and the mood was celebratory.
With outgoing president, the suave and articulate, Mr. Ratnakar Rao of Breeze Advertising taking center stage with his reflections on the year that was. The 31 year old club saw a renaissance of sorts in the year 2010 with more corporate entities joining the club, the last count saw close to 50 corporate members by the year end. The parting shots of his speech had a glint of hope as the new committee saw Young Turks in the driver’s seat. Mr. Ratnakar opined “It was a worthy effort by the team with lots of help and support from senior ad pros. We hope there will be no looking back and my best wishes to the incoming Executive Committee”
The new members of the Ad Club, Hyderabad include; P.K. Sahgal (Branch Manager, Lintas) as the President; Ranga Reddy, (Regional General Manager - The Hindu) as Vice President; Sanjay Reddy (Business Head – Gemini TV) as Secretary and Nitin Muley, (General Manager - OTS) as Treasurer.
After taking charge Sanjay Reddy, the incumbent Secretary said “I stand here in front of three stalwarts of media , Mr. Anil Kumar, Times of India (my first boss); Mr. Ratnakar, Breeze Advertising, Mr. I. Venkat – Eenadu Group, who’ve shaped my views on advertising, as I stand here I know the responsibility and hope to live up to it”
P.K. Sahgal the incumbent President of Ad Club said “My responsibility is to continue the momentum that Mr. Ratnakar (ex-president) has unleashed. These are indeed big shoes that I am stepping into, I promise to fill them the best I can”
The other Committee Members include Kulwinder Singh, CEO, Postnoon afternoon daily; Lenny Emanuel, Ace lensman of Premier Studios; Ramu Srinivasan MD of Wide Reach Advertising ; K Ramana Kumar, DGM of Sakshi Newspaper.
The Ad Club Annual General Meeting, Secretary’s Report was upbeat as the year began with a firm resolve to accelerate the Club’s activity starting with an aggressive membership drive. The Executive Committee responded to the call and successfully enrolled new members whilst renewing current memberships.
Activities of 2010 and 2011 - The first activity was a brilliant presentation by Paritosh Joshi, CEO Star CJ Network India on a very current topic “The new egalitarian – the new outspoken consumer”. Newer ways of connecting and dealing with the emerging consumer in a competitive market environment were illustrated eloquently.
Next in the series of initiatives by Ad Club, Hyderabad was a fantastic presentation to a packed audience was made by Saurav Chakraborthy, Head of Digital Direction, Mumbai - Digital is not alien but the future was a journey into the fabulous ether of digital communication and its marketing applications. This was followed by a full day workshop on digital media tools and their versatile applications online; eleven agencies and other organisations benefited from the presentation.
Gyaan from the retail Guru - This saw Sandip Tarkas – President, Customer Strategy, Future Group and CEO Future Media making a brilliant presentation on what makes you succeed in retail marketing.
This was followed up by “What hails the new media?” Ravi Kiran – Former CEO Starcom MediaVest Group and a giant in the media arena thrilled the audience with his incisive presentation on the emergence of new media – how the classical newspaper industry is being shaped and moulded by the digital revolution. It was truly an eye opener for the media planner of emerging India
Entertainment Blockbuster! - From academic presentation to unadulterated Tamasha - The TV9 Blockbuster 2010 was a grand evening packed with professional entertainers and celebrity performers
With the last in the Ad club, Hyderabad event where creative excellence took center stage and it was time to crown the king of advertising - creative excellence at ADEX 2010, over 70 awards were presented at the well attended evening of the year. |
