Fresh off of their highly successful, widely acclaimed Hindi film, Shor In The City, filmmakers Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK have finally decided to go local!
Known for their unique, refreshing films with a signature style of humour, the duo along with their creative partner, Sita Menon, have decided to go back to their roots in Andhra Pradesh, producing their first Telugu film, tentatively titled 'The Dopidi', a hilarious, smart and clutter-breaking comedy.
Produced by Raj and DK's D2R Films and by their long-time pal, Venkat Ravi Kiran, starring Varun Sandesh, Sundeep Kishan, introducing the gorgeous New York based actress, Melanie Kannokada, featuring Tanikella Bharani in a sparkling role, the film is written and directed by debutant Siraj Kalla, who earlier assisted Raj and DK in Shor In The City.
Raj and DK have earlier made Flavors, which is now a cult classic with Indian expatriates, and the Hindi film, 99, which became a sleeper hit. They are now finishing up India's first Zombie film with Saif Ali Khan, Kunal Khemu and others.
"For years, our friends and family have been asking us to make a Telugu film. It's been on our minds forever too, since we grew up on a diet of Telugu films! So when Siraj approached us during the filming of Shor with this idea, we thought it was a terrific film to launch our production in Telugu. This film appeals to our sensibilities and is the kind of film our production company would like to nurture and foster. We loved the script and kept laughing through it, and we believe the audiences will love it too!" say Raj and DK.
The film is under production currently, and is slated for release later this year.
