KS Rama Rao as Film Producers Counsel President
Popular producer KS Rama Rao - who gave many super hits in the combination of Chiranjeevi and critically acclaimed blockbusters like Punya Sthri, Chanti and Matrudevobhava - is elected as the new president of Telugu film producers counsel. M Arjuna Raju and Vadde Naveen would act as vice presidents. C Kalyan and Burugapally Sivarama Krishna are secretaries. KS Kumar and Naga Babu are joint secretaries. KC Sekhar Babu is the treasurer. The list of executive committee members include Allu Arvind, Sunkara Madhu Murali, Jigini Naga Bhushanam, KL Narayana, Chalasani Ramesh, PV Ravi Kishore, M Shyam Prasad Reddy, Vajja Srinivasa Rao, D Suresh Babu and P Venkat Subramanyam Varma (Vijay Varma).

Tarun in Dil Raju's film
Tarun's latest film Sakhiya is nearing completion. He is currently doing a film in the direction of Allari Ravi Babu with Arti Agarwal as heroine. Tarun is recently signed to play hero in a film to be produced by Dil Raju. Dil Raju has bought the Telugu remake rights of successful Tamil film 'Alagiyathiye'. This film was produced by Prakash Raj in Tamil. A youth director would direct this film in Telugu.

Gopika with Bala Krishna
Gopika who made her debut in Ravi Teja's Naa Autograph is recently signed by the producer who is making film with Bala Krishna as hero. She is currently acted in SV Krishna Reddy's Letha Manasulu and Sravanthi Ravi Kishore's '4 the people'. She is also expected to act in SV Krishna Reddy's film with Rajendra Prasad as hero.

Vijay Kanth in Allu Arjun's film
Tamil mass star Vijay Kanth is acting in a direct Telugu film for the first time. He would be playing an important and pivotal role in VV Vinayak's mass film with Allu Arjun as hero. This film would go to floors in the 1st week of October 2004.

Srikanth ready to play the second fiddle
Srikanth is playing an assistant to Chiranjeevi in Shankardada MBBS. He would also be playing a younger brother role to Venkatesh in Supergood's Sankranthi. He is also signed a film to play a role in Nagarjuna's next film in the direction of Puri Jagan. In addition to these three films, he has solo hero roles in a few films as well.

Letha Manasulu and Giri on 1st Oct
SV Krishna Reddy's film with Srikanth, Gopika and Kalyani in the main leads would be releasing on 1st October. This film is a remake of Tamil blockbuster 'Alagi'. A dubbing film directed by C Sundar (husband of Kushbu) with Arjun and Reema Sen in the main leads is also releasing on 1st October.

Vijayendra Varma audio on 7th October
3rd Generations of Nandamuri - NTR, Taraka Rathna, Kalyana Ram & Chaitanya Krishna - along with 4th Generation Nandamuri Hero Mokshagna would be the chief guests of audio release function of Bala Krishna's latest film Vijayendra Varma on 7th October 2004 in Shilpakala Vedika, madapur. This function would be celebrated among the 1000's of Nandamuri fans. Koti scored music. Later on the unit would move to Switzerland to can a song each on Bala Krishna & Ankita and Bala Krishna and Laya from 11th to 22nd October. Swarna Subba Rao directs this film on Aditya productions banner.

Shriya saves lives of four
There is foundation called Save A Child Heart (SACH) which takes care of getting heart surgeries done for poor and needy children. Each surgery would cost anywhere around Rs. 70,000/- to Rs 1 lakh. Actress Shriya came forward and took care of the expenses of 4 Telugu needy children named Jyostna (6), Ravi Teja (6), Koteswara Rao (11) and Sai Eeswar (4). 7/G Brindavan Colony - Ravi Krishna's debut film as hero - would be releasing on 14th October 2004. Selva Ragahva - of 'Kadal Kondein' fame - directed this film, which based on his childhood memories of incidents happening in his colony. Yuan Shankar Raja provided music. Lux - which is always associated with cine blitz and advertises its soap with a tagline 'cine taarala soundarya rahasyam' - would act as main sponsor for Cinemaa awards which would be conceptualized and organized by Rhythm Media Works. The Cinemaa awards function which was held for the first time during last year met with huge success. This time, the nominations for Cinema awards are strictly restricted to direct Telugu films (no remakes and no dubbed films). These awards would be presented at a function arranged on 10th of next month. MAA TV would live telecast this function.

Enter The New Dragon in 4 languages
Enter The New Dragon has been dubbed and released simultaneously all over India in 4 languages (English, Telugu, Hindi and Tamil) on 24th September. The advertisements of this film claim that the terrific martial arts sequences it sports does not have any dupes, graphics or threadwork. This film started with lukewarm response and is gaining momentum with positive talk about the film spreading. This film is yet to release in North India and Hollywood.

Rajendra Prasad's socio-fantasy flick

Minor injury to Sadaf

Ravi Teja in 'Nenanthe'
Jothi Krishna - who made his debut with Tarun's bilingual film 'Nee Manasu Naaku Telusu' - would be directing another bilingual film on his father AM Ratnam's banner Sri Surya Movies. Shankar Dada MBBS on 8th October
Shankar Dada MBBS is having tremendous pre-release buzz. As per the latest information, Chiranjeevi's Shankar Dada MBBS would be releasing on 8th October (Friday) instead of on 6th October 2004 (Wednesday). Audio of this film has already created records by selling highest number of cassettes in short span of time. Jayant C Paranji directed this Telugu remake of Hindi blockbuster 'Munna Bhai MBBS'. This film would have simultaneous release on 8th October in USA as well.

Prabhas trims down
The character Prabhas is playing in 'Chakram' film needs him to slim down to considerable amount. Prabhas has taken special precautions to make sure that he sheds a good amount of weight. Prabhas is looking extremely handsome in his get-up in Chakram.

20 extra prints for Gowri
When Telugu film industry is going to slump, here is one film that has added 20 prints after the release. This film was not released directly in Cudappah town due to non-availability of a decent theater. By releasing 14 days late, Sumanth's Gowri collected an impressive share of 4.35 lakhs in seven days in single theater of Cudappah. The other reason for increasing prints is to counter the video piracy by making the film reach as many movie lovers as possible before pirated VCD storms the market.

Rampant video piracy in Karnataka
Due to the 7-week moratorium for the direct release of non-Kannada films in Karnataka, the pirated VCDs of latest Telugu films are rampantly storming the market. Around 50,000 pirated VCDs including that of latest releases Arjun and Gowri were found in go-downs. The Telugu film lovers are also happily lapping them up as they can't wait for 7 weeks to watch the latest films in theaters. A few cable networks aired recently released Arjun film in Bangalore as well. Let us wish that Karnataka government would put an end to this chaotic situation and lift moratorium on non-Kannada films as soon as possible.

Shooting of Chakram - Krishna Vamsi's latest flick with Prabhas and Charmy in the main leads - is going on at a fast pace in Hyderabad now. This film would be releasing for Sankranthi of 2005. Prabhas's Varsham went on to become a big hit after releasing for Sankranthi 2004. Keeravani is scoring music for the first time for a Krishna Vamsi's film. C Venkat Raju and C Sivaraju are producing this film jointly on Geeta Chitralaya banner.

Giri for NTR's next film
Giri - who is currently producing Alludu with NTR as hero - would act as coordinator for NTR's next venture in the direction of SS Rajamouli. SS Rajamouli has registered his production banner as Viswamitra Creations. He would produce that film. Vijayendra Prasad provides story and MM Keeravani scores music.

Matinee show release for Sivaji film
For a strange reason Sivaji's forthcoming film 'Mr. and Mrs. Sailaja Krishna Moorthy' would be releasing with matinee show on 22nd October 2004 on the eve of Dussera. Sivaji and Laila are playing lead roles. Siva Nageswara Rao directs this film. Shooting of this film is currently going on in Araku valley. Shooting part of this film would be completed by 26th September. Rohitraj - a protégé of MM Keeravani - is making his debut as music director. Senior producer Atluri Purnachandra Rao is producing this film.

Allu Arjun's next film on 3rd Oct
Allu Arjun's latest venture in the direction of VV Vinayak would start on 3rd October. This film would also sport a big mass hero of Tamil Nadu in a crucial role. Devi Sri Prasad who scored music for Allu Arjun's Arya would be scoring music. M Satyanarayana Reddy would produce this film on Siri Venkateswara Productions banner. Allu Arvind presents this film. Rajendra Kumar (dialogues), Chota K Naidu (camera), Gowtam Raju (editing) and Ashok Kumar (art) would handle the respective technical departments. Jagapati Babu is known for his choosiness in selecting subjects. It is very difficult for any director to convince Jagapati Babu with his storyline. Jagapati Babu took a considerable gap after his last flick 'Pedababu'. His next film would go to floors from 1st October onwards. Valluripalli Ramesh Babu gave a couple of hits (Avunu Valliddaru Istapaddaru & Kabaddi Kabaddi) in the last two years. A new director would make debut through this film.

Mahesh Babu obtains bail
Hero Mahesh Babu traveled to Warangal today to obtain bail against the alleged charges of assaulting and kidnapping a video shop owner for selling pirated VCDs of Mahesh Babu's latest flick Arjun. Mahesh Babu and Guna Sekhar are given bail today on surety of Rs. 5000/-. He is returning back to Hyderabad now and expected to participate in a press meet in an hour.

14 prints added to Gowri
Producer Sravanthi Ravi Kishore had to order for 14 extra prints for the last week and this week to meet the demand for Sumanth's latest successful flick Gowri. With this, the total number of prints reached to 84. Sumanth's Gowri is still going great guns withstanding the onslaught of big releases.

Bala Krishna's song in Golkonda
Shooting of a solo song on Bala Krishna is going on currently at Golkonda Fort for 'Vijayendra Varma' film. Seenu master is choreographing this song. Later on a fight would be pictured on Bala Krishna. This schedule would continue till 23rd of September. Later on a song would be canned on Balakrishna and Ankita in sets erected at Annapurna and Padmalaya studios. Then the unit would move abroad to can 2 more songs. This film is going to release in October 2004.

85 lakhs worth set for Subhash Chandra Bose
Producer C Aswini Dutt is lavishly spending for pre-independence film 'Subhash Chandra Bose' with Venkatesh as hero in the direction of K Raghavendra Rao. An outdoor set worth approximately Rs 85 lakhs was built near Vuravakonda recently. The second schedule of this film is going on currently at that set.

Robbery attempt at Jagapati Babu's house
The servants at Jagapati Babu's house planned to rob Jagapati Babu's house and tried to rope in the security guard Chiranjeevi to help them as an accomplice. Chiranjeevi immediately alerted Jagapati Babu about it and Jagapati Babu lodged police complaint about the same. Jagapati Babu rewarded Chiranjeevi with a cash prize of Rs. 25,000/- for being honest and loyal.

Nitin brightens kid fan's life
Youth hero Nitin has a kid fan named Roshan Teja (8 years) who is suffering from dengue fever. The doctors at Rainbow Hospitals declared that Teja's blood is turning into poison and kept him on ventilation for 12 continuous days. The doctors advised parents of Teja to fulfill his wishes so that it would keep him happy, which in turn would help him recover. Taja is a huge fan of Nitin and he wanted to meet Nitin. Responding to the request, Nitin visited Teja with a flower bouquet and entertained him. Nitin also had photo session and promised Teja to show his latest release Sri Anjaneyam and next release Sye. Let us hope that Teja recovers fast with the happiness of meeting his matinee idol Nitin.

RP's Amrutha Varshini
RP Patnaik composed music for a devotional album on Sai Baba titled 'Amrutha Varshini'. SP Bala Subramanyam rendered his voice to the songs. This album was released today at a function organized in Film Nagar Daiva Sannidhi. Mohan Babu - an ardent devotee of Sai Baba - released the audiocassette. MAA President Murali Mohan released the audio CD.

Gowtam to direct Raja Sekhar
Gowtam Menon - the director Gharshana film - would be directed Raja Sekhar very soon. Raja Sekhar would produce this film on his home banner. Raja Sekhar is currently acting in a film titled 'Aptudu' in the direction of Muthyala Subbaiah. This film is also being produced by Raja Sekhar himself.

Rajamouli Vs Vikraman
There seems to be some kind of coincidence in the release dates of Raja Mouli and Vikraman films. Their last films Simhadri (9th July 2003) and Vasantham (11th July 2003) were released in the same week. Their latest films Sye (23rd Sep 2004) and Cheppave Chirugali (24th Sep 2004) are also releasing in the same week. Sye has Nitin and Genelia in the main leads and Cheppave Chirugali has Venu, Abhirami and Ashima Bhalla playing main roles.

Chiranjeevi visits Durgamma temple at Vijayawada
Chiranjeevi along with his family members paid a visit to the famous Kanakadurga temple at Vijayawada and performed poojas today afternoon at 12. Later on he visited Mallikharjuna Swamy temple.

Ram Gopal Varma's Marri Chettu
Ram Gopal Varma is producing another bilingual film titled Marri Chettu (Vastu Sastra in Hindi) with JD Chakravarthy and Sushmita Sen in the main leads. Marri Chettu is a horror flick that revolves around the Marri Chettu that is located in the backyard of the house in which the lead pair lives in. Amar handles music and Sachin handles camera. Saurabh Narang directs this film. Marri Chettu is slated for the release in the second half of October.

Hero Sumanth is in Vijayawada to shoot for his latest film 51. The director Surya Kiran is shooting a few vital college scenes in Vijayawada's famous 'Loyola College'. Bombay girl Saloni is making her debut as heroine in '51'. This film is a action based love story.

Nagarjuna's Vizag sentiment
Nagarjuna is currently shooting in Vizag for his latest film Mass (Dammunte Kasko). Nagarjuna's last two films 'Shivamani' and 'Nenunnanu' were also shot in Vizag and these films went on to become blockbusters. Famous choreographer Lawrence is directing this film. This film is slated for the release by the end of December 2004.

ANR to enter 80

60 lakhs Guntur share for Gudumba Shankar
Pawan Kalyan's Gudumba Shankar collected an amazing share of approximately 60 lakhs in Guntur territory in a span of 7 days. This kind of opening is unheard of when a film generated mix talk and mix reviews. The situation is similar in other areas as well.

The Telugu film heroines seem to be in news more for their non-filmy activities. The heroines like Ankita, Shriya, Charmy and Katrina Kaif are in city in this week to open garment selling shops. And they do charge a hefty amount for doing the same.

Ravi Teja in Suresh productions
Mass hero Ravi Teja is said to have signed on dotted lines for a film to be produced on Suresh Productions banner by D Rama Naidu. Dasarath is expected to direct this flick. This film marks the comeback of D Rama Naidu as producer after a stint as politician.

3 films this weekend
This week (Friday and Saturday) is witnessing release of three films. Two dubbing films Pothuraju (Kamal Hassan, Abhirami - Ilayaraja) and Manasantha (Sreeram & Trisha) are releasing on Friday (17th September). Soggadi Saradalu (Santosh Pawan and Haritha) - a sleazy film from the producers of Sorry Naaku pellaindi - would be releasing on Saturday (18th September).

Samba 100 days in 5 centers
NTR's latest film Samba ended up in 100 days in five straight centers. It is nice to see NTR for not pushing Samba for 100 days for prestige sake. VV Vinayak directed this film. NTR's next film Alludu would be releasing in the end of December 2004.

Venky's Sankranthi details
Supergood films that gave blockbuster remakes like Suryavamsam and Raja with Venkatesh as hero are all set to repeat the magic by remaking their own Tamil film Anandam (2001). Mammootty played the lead role in Tamil version. This film deals about a close knitted lower middle class family of four grown-up siblings. Muppalaneni Siva - who directed Raja - would direct this remake. SA Raj Kumar provides music.

Alludu release for the year end
The current schedule of NTR's Alludu is going on in Annapurna 7 Acres now. The current schedule of this film would be completed by the end of September. The unit would move to abroad to can a few songs. Alludu is expected to release either on 18th of December 2004 or Sankranthi 2005.

Cinema halls closure in Bangalore
A few prominent cinema halls were forced to close the shops due to the new rule imposed by Karnataka Government that non-Kannada films cannot have simultaneous release in Karnataka. The exhibitors need to wait for 7 weeks (almost 50 days) for a film to be released. There are certain theaters that are dedicated to only Telugu, Hindi and English respectively. All these theaters are either closed down or temporarily running 50-day old non-Kannada films.

Kalyani to wed Soorya Kiran
Film actress Kalyani is all set to marry successful Telugu film director Soorya Kiran (of 'Satyam' fame). This marriage is going to be love cum arranged marriage. Both Kalyani and Soorya Kiran are Malayali Nairs and have roots in film industry since they were kids. If things go well, their marriage is slated to happen in either January 2005 or February 2005.

Sumanth is back in action
Sumanth's 'Gowri' opened with splendid openings by making the producers and buyers happy. Sumanth has landed in Hyderabad after completing honeymoon in Greece on 5th of September. Sumanth has seen the 'Gowri' film amidst public crowds in Arjun theater of Kukatpally. Sumanth participated in the 2nd schedule of his latest film '51' today. Shooting of this film would continue till the completion of film. The birthday of director Surya Kiran was also celebrated in the sets.

Gummadi heads Nandi committee
Veteran Telugu film character artist Gummadi is spearheading the Nandi Awards Committee 2003. 30 features films, 5 children films and 4 national integration films are being considered for screening among the films that were released in 2003. The other members in the committee are CS Rao, VSR Swamy, Chatla Sreeramulu, GS Varadachari, YK Nageswara Rao, Vasiraju Prakasam and Sarath Kumar. With a honest men like Gummadi at the helm of affairs, we can expect fair awards this time.

Anjali Devi's grand daughter as heroine

Audio of Shankar Dada is selling like hotcakes with extremely good report on the audio scored by Devi Sri Prasad.

Amisha doubles up with Chiranjeevi
Amisha Patel is signed in two of forthcoming films of Chiranjeevi. She would be playing one of the heroines in Chiranjeevi's film in the direction of Seenu Vytla in which Chiranjeevi would be doing dual role. Amisha would also be the leading lady in Aswini Dutt's film in the direction of Vijaya Bhaskar in which Chiranjeevi would be starring. Amisha is currently acting in a film with NTR as hero in the direction of B Gopal.

Puri finally fixed on Srikanth in Nag's film

As per the informal sources, Venkatesh would be doing a film titled 'Sankranthi'. This film would be a remake of Tamil blockbuster. This film is expected to go to floors in the month of October 2004.

TFI comes to grinding halt
Telugu film industry came to a grinding halt on 5th September. The Telugu film producers counsel had a brainstorm session. There had been several flops in the last 3 months and Telugu Film producers counsel has met to discuss about how to make the things better. Several related issues like stars remunerations, budget control, excessive usage of film software by private TV channels and ratings in websites have also come up in the discussions.

Chiranjeevi would be traveling to Munnar, Kerala on 14th of this month to take a holiday. He would then travel to Ooty on 16th September to participate in the shooting of 'Pattu Pattu' song of Shankar Dada MBBS. Shankar Dada MBBS is all set for a worldwide release either on 29th of September or in the first week of October.

Rajendra Prasad with SVK
SV Krishna Reddy who directed two consecutive hits in terms of Rajendrudu Gajendrudu and Mayalodu with Rajendra Prasad a decade back is finally making another film with Rajendra Prasad as hero. This film is tentatively titled as 'Bahumati'. After Mayalodu film SV Krishna Reddy made the most of his films with Srikanth and Jagapathi Babu as heroes. More details later.

Meera Jasmines dubs her voice in Gudumba Shankar
National award winning actress Meera Jasmine has dubbed her voice in Telugu for her forthcoming film Gudumba Shankar with Pawan Kalyan as hero. It is good to know that non-Telugu actresses like Sadaf, Charmy and Meera Jasmine are trying their level best to speak in Telugu when our Telugu actresses still depend on dubbing artists.

Vijayendra Varma in October
Shooting part of Bala Krishna's Vijayendra Varma film is complete except for a few songs. A song would be picturized in Annapurna studios between 15th September and 20th September. During that time audio of Vijayendra Varma would be released. The remaining songs would be canned in abroad from 25th September to 6th October. This film would be releasing in the second week of October. Bala Krishna is playing the role of RAW officer. This film has three heroines - Laya, Ankita and Sangeeta.

Boy fan dies in Arjun tour
In a mishap, a 15 year old lad Allam Nuka Raju died due to unexpected exploding of firecrackers in Kakinada when Mahesh Babu was touring Kakinada town. Mahesh Babu and the unit expressed deep shock over this unfortunate incident. Mahesh Babu and Guna Sekhar announced a compensation of Rs. 1 lakh and Rs 25,000/- each respectively to the family of deceased boy.

Protests over Madyahnam Hatya
Madyahnam Hatya created furor even before its release yesterday as student activists and women activists protested the message the publicity of this film is carrying. An effigy of director Ram Gopal Varma was burnt as a protest against the film which carried anti-family message that says - 'meekeppudaina … mee bharya chachipothe bagundanipichinda?'

Prabhas's functions details
100 days function of Prabhas's Adavi Ramudu would be held on 12th of September 2004. The 175 days function of blockbuster Varsham would be held on 23rd of October 2004 on the eve of Vijaya Dasami (Dasara) festival. Incidentally 23rd October is also happens to be the birthday of Prabhas.

Arya function on 8th September
Allu Arjun's Arya would be celebrating its 125 days run by holding a function at public gardens in Hyderabad on 8th September 2004. This film has recently completed 100 days run in 56 centers. Dil Raju - the producer of this film - would also be announcing his future projects at the same venue.

Mahesh takes holy dip
Prince Mahesh took holy dip along with Guna Sekhar and Aswini Dutt at a ghat near Kanaka Durgamma Varathi in Vijayawada while taking part in the success tour of Arjun film yesterday. This ghat is a closed one, but a special provision was made for Prince Mahesh. Mahesh Babu had both swamy karyam (holy dip) and swakaryam (meeting fans) in this tour. In his speeches, he gave more emphasis on eradicating the video piracy of Arjun.

Bru associates with Anand film
A good caption might get an unexpected bounty, just like Anand film had Bru Coffee. Anand film is captioned as 'manchi coffee lanti cinema'. Impressed by the caption Bru coffee has come forward to sponsor outdoor publicity of 'Anand' film in terms of vinyl banners and backlit hoardings. TV promotions of the same would be aired from 10th September onwards. Anand film - directed by Sekhar Kammula - would be releasing in this month.

Open Air Theater in Vijayawada
Rhythm Driven - Andhra Pradesh's first and only drive-in open air theater - is going to be re-opened in Vijayawada on 10th September 2004. This open theater is spread across 3 acres at Vundavalli center near Krishna Barriage. The open area accommodates 85 cars and the gallery has the seating capacity for 250 patrons. There would be two shows everyday - one each at 7 pm and 10 pm. The ticket is priced at Rs 40/- per patron. This theater opens with Pawan Kalyan's Gudumba Shankar. Vishnu of Rhythm Events own this theater.

Cinemaa Awards on 10th Oct
Cinemaa Awards, which took off in a great style last year at Hitex, is going to have its year 2004 awards function on 10th October at the same venue. Rhythm Events would organize the function and manage the show. MAA TV would sponsor the event and do the live telecast of the same.

Pani Rakshasudu - Pawan Kalyan
Pawan Kalyan is said to have come to Rama Naidu studios yesterday morning (31st August) at 11 am. He has been working since then. He started balance part of dubbing at 3 am today morning (1st September). He finished it by 7 am and then he slept off on a simple bench in dubbing studio itself after strenuous work. Pawan Kalyan is known to be a workaholic at work and a simpleton in leading life. And this incident only proves it.

Gudumba Shankar censoring today
Pawan Kalyan's Gudumba Shankar is going to censoring today afternoon. As per the guidelines, no film producer should announce the release date in print and poster publicity before film got censored. Since 2nd September is the birthday of Pawan Kalyan, the producer wanted to give out the paper advertisement by showing the release date of Gudumba Shankar as 10th September. Hence, Gudumba Shankar is going for censoring today.

Dubbing for Sairam in 143
After getting stringent criticism from all quarters about the own dubbing of Sairam Shankar for 143 film, Puri Jagan has corrected it by making music director Sri dub the voice of Sairam Shankar for 143 film. Sri has given his dubbing voice to the actor Akash (Anandam fame) earlier. We have to wait and see if this changed dubbing would make world of good to 143 or not!
