Farzana putting on extra kilos
At a time when heroines are starving to keep a fit figure onscreen, heroine Farzana, who registered her entry hit with Bhagyalakshmi Bumper Draw in Telugu, is seen on the verge of losing shape. The heroine was last seen in the film – BBCS of Srinivasa Reddy and costarring EVV Naresh. Currently, she does a female lead in Sarath Kumar's Tamil movie 1977. Though she looked slim on the posters displayed at a function related to the film, she looked different off-screen with extra pounds on her. Time for her to shed the weight!

Writers clash on June 6
Two movies Somberi and Adyaksha, in the direction of lyricist Jonnavittula and dialogue writer Marudhuri Raja respectively are hitting the marquee on June 6th. Sombheri stars Ali in the lead, while Adyaksha is a satire on the prevailing political and social conditions. The former is banking on Ali's comedy strength; with Marudhuri Raja hopeful of the title and the subject that he had dealt with.

John Abraham in Hindi AFBA
John Abraham is likely to play the lead role in the Hindi remake of A Film By Arvind (successful suspense thriller in Telugu). Many a time, it was in the news that the film would be remade in Bollywood, but so far it didn't materialize. Sekhar Suri might take up the project next year. Kangana Raunat, who was the original choice in Telugu version of the film, is said to be showing interest in Hindi remake.

Politics not bed of roses: Sarath Kumar
Politics and glamour are different from each other, said Tamil hero Sarath Kumar. When asked whether he holds any suggestions to actor Chiranjeevi, whose political party is coming up in August, he said: "I will give many, if he asks me. It is very difficult to survive in politics. Everything will look rosy, but once we see the reality, it will be shocking." Reacting to the possible entry of other actors like Balakrishna into politics, he said: "I welcome it. Politics is people's ultimate weapon. Anybody can join politics and wield his weapon."

Ex-model Geetanjali declared sound
Former model Geetanjali is declared free from drug abuse. She will be reaching Hardwar today to live with her relatives. So far, she has been put on medication and surveillance at a rehabilitation centre at Hissar in Haryana. Based on her willingness, the Mahila commission would initiate steps for sending the model to their parents. To note here, Geetanjali was found begging in the streets of New Delhi a few months ago. Later, she was diagnosed with drug abuse, which rendered her mentally and physically weak. As Geetanjali sprints towards normalcy, she awaits revival of her lost career.

PK-Surya film to roll June 23
Unit of Pawan Kalyan-SJ Surya combine film with its current title as Puli in public circles awaits the start of the regular shoot from June 23rd. Produced by Singanamala Ramesh, for the first time India's musical sensation AR Rehman will be scoring the music. Reports already came out that the actor too plays the role of a cop, first of its kind in his career.

Shilpa's flash visit to Tirumala
Closely guarded by a dozen private security guards, Big Brother sensation and Bollywood damsel Shilpa Shetty trekked the 16-km-long serpentine footpath from Alipiri to Tirumala and had dharshan of Lord Venkateswara at predawn today. TTD authorities guided her entourage for a smooth visit. This slim and long-legged beauty took three hours to reach the hill shrine from the foothills, while an average trekker would take four to four and half hours. En route, she took a brief halt at Lord Hanuman junction. Her visit was so sudden and kept under wraps that neither the media nor the general crowds had any idea of it; till they saw her by an accident checking into a posh guesthouse.

Seenu Vytla's Ready on June 19/20
Seenu Vytla-directed film Ready, staring Ram and Genelia, is racing ahead for a June 19/20 release. Produced by Sravanti Ravikishore on his home banner, it has music by Devi Sri Prasad, which got released recently, to a good response. Ace comedian Brahmanandam, who plays a lengthy role from the start to finish in the film, recently reiterated that Ready would a full-length Seenu Vytla kind of film on the lines of his earlier blockbuster Dhee. Words of this senior comedian seem to hold some weight as he played the unforgettable Chari in Dhee.

Hero Rajasekhar for Congress theerth
Post Telengana-battle results, hero Rajasekhar and his talkative spouse Jeevita have today met Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy at his chambers. The 20-minute parley was said have dwelt on issues like Telengana sentiment and the couple's willingness to get into active politics. Coming out, the hero made it clear that if he were to join a political party, it would be none but the Congress. "Despite the Telengana wave, people believed in YSR government and voted in favor of it. My desire to become a Congressman doesn't mean that I am after power or position," he maintained.

Charmme gives a slip to lensmen
Actress Charmme today gave a slip to the photographers when they sought to have a photo-session with her. She was here shooting for the film 16 Days. The title announcement got delayed by an hour thanks to her late arrival. When a photographer said that the media was waiting for her since an hour, Charmme said: "I came here half an hour back. But, what can I do? I am also waiting for you." After the media briefing, she was reluctant to pose for the photographers, saying: "Not now, please. You see. I am in a casual dress. The dress doesn't match my hairstyle. See you next time." Saying so, she left the venue. Earlier, looking at her picture on the poster there, she exclaimed: "Very nice."

The media too went obsessive over the details and the channels competed with each other in flashing the details, without getting it confirmed. However, the act is staunchly defended by the media – that the details were leaked from the actor's inner circles. Allu Arvind and Nagababu who officially confirmed Chiranjeevi's decision to form a party, rejected the rumors surrounding the party's name, parameters of the flag, symbol and agenda. Chiru is people's man: Sarath Kumar
Tamil actor Sarath Kumar, said that Chiranjeevi is a man of the masses. He is currently in Medak busy shooting for his Tamil film titled 1977. Responding to the news of Chiru's decision to float a political party, he said: "In a democratic country like India, anyone can play active role in politics. He doesn't need to be a mere film star, but doctors, engineers, lawyers and elite of all vibrant walks. I have all confidence that Chiru will work for the poor and needy." Sarath Kumar said he would be fielding the candidates of the party AISMK in all the Lok Sabha constituencies in Tamilnadu in the general elections next year.

Gummadi regrets vulgarity in films
Veteran actor Gummadi Venkateswara Rao deplored that the present day Telugu film industry is going off track. Speaking as guest at a function in city, Gummadi said in the name of entertainment, vulgarity and violence were promoted in a big way. Another guest Dr. C. Narayana Reddy criticized the way in which comedy tracks in films are run with 'double-meaning' dialogues and crude episodes. He advised the present day writers not to miss the decency factor while dealing with comedy, which he termed as a tonic to audience heart.

Chiranjeevi’s Labor party on 22 August
Allu Arvind officially confirmed that Chiranjeevi’s party will be announced on 22 August on the eve of his birthday. The party name, emblem and agenda will be made public on the same day. Labor party is expected to be the name of the party with Rail being the party symbol. The colors of the flag will be blue and red. The letterings of the party name will be in green color. The next elections are expected to happen in November 2008 and Chiranjeevi aims to have just 3 months for canvassing. The announcement is expected to happen in Ichapuram, Srikakulam district.

Row over NTR statue in Vizag
The 8-ft bronze statue of late NT Rama Rao in the getup of Lord Krishna, erected at the busy 7-Hills Centre at Visakhapatnam, turned into bone of contention for some political and intellectual groups. The statue was unveiled by NTR's daughter and Union minister Purandareshwari on May 28th, celebrating the birthday anniversary of the late leader. The opposing sections argue that it would result in religious divide, prompting other groups to try their options and depicting human leaders in the forms of Gods. They said a request would be placed with the central and state governments not to allow arranging statues of late leaders in divine forms when they are intended at public places. The state government had already issued some stipulations over keeping statues at public places.

Fans of Balakrishna have built a temple for Lord Panduranga in Vijayawada, in connection with the actor's latest release Pandurangadu. A 100-day special puja was launched in the temple, hoping for the film to run successfully.

Rly. Station set for Krishnavamsi film
Unit of Krishnavamsi's untitled film, starring Tarun and Genelia, created flutter in Rajahmundry. In view of strict rules of the Railways for procuring railway stations and trains for film shootings, the local Anam Kalakshetram got converted into a railway station set. The scene in which Genelia comes running out of the station and fleeing with hero Tarun on a motorbike was shot. Big crowds thronged the location to have the glimpse of the fleeing pair and other artistes. It became difficult for a while to control the crowds, who later dispersed voluntarily on the request of the production personnel.

Superstar Krishna birthday today
Superstar Krishna celebrates his 65th birthday today. Born on 31st May, 1943 in Burripalem (Guntur district), he became one of biggest stars. He is credited for introducing many technical advancements in Telugu movies including first cinema-scope and 70mm. He also became the first actor to don cowboy and detective roles in Telugu films earning him the nickname "Andhra James Bond". Krishna is widely acclaimed for his daring experiments and his performance (in and) as Alluri Seetarama Raju is regarded as one of the defining moments in the Telugu film industry. Dasavataram on June 13th
Kamal Hassan's much-awaited Dasavataram is officially hitting the screens worldwide with over 1000 prints on June 13th. Previously the flick was scheduled to release on June 6th, which date later got shifted to June 12th. The latest shift by a day is due to delay in the subtitle works meant for languages other than Telugu, Tamil and Hindi, according an official statement. Also a big relief prevails among the film unit with the Chennai court quashing a petition filed by a religious group against the film.

Chiru flouted EC norm: Minister
State Information Minister Anam Ramnarayan Reddy said that megastar Chiranjeevi had violated the election commission norms by posing or photographs and expressing his views influencing the voters at a specified polling booth at Jubilee Hills on May 29th. Talking to reporters at Tirupati, the Minister sought the EC to proceed against the actor for making a breach of its code. To note here, some of the security and polling personnel joined the actor for photographs.

AMAV remake in Hindi soon
Aaduvari Matalaku Ardhale Verule is going to be remade in Hindi with a top hero. This Venkatesh-Trisha blockbuster created waves with its Tamil remake. Producer of Jagadam – Aditya Babu – starring and producing the film in Kannada. "There is a good demand for AMAV Hindi rights. But, we have decided to do the Hindi version on our production house (Saideva Creations), soon," according to one of the producers, Sanam Naga Ashok.

Producer Jayakrishna's son ends life
Suicidal death of Muddukrishna, the only son of producer Jayakrishna, shook the film fraternity in Hyderabad. The 28-year-old youth doing shares business is said to have loaned an amount of Rs. 40 lakh to his Chennai-based friend and his mother, but failed to recover it despite repeated appeals. It resulted in Muddukrishna incurring huge financial losses, besides piling up of the interest, according to the suicide note found on the deceased. Jayakrishna earlier worked as makeup man to senior artistes Krishnamraju and Jayasudha. He also produced lots of films. The sight of Jayakrishna weeping profusely moved one and all. Some of the senior film persons like Chiranjeevi arrived at the crime spot and consoled the family members.

Rajasekhar office theft
Actress Jeevita Rajasekhar expressed serious doubts about the theft at their new office in Film Nagar, Hyderabad. The burglars who broke open the door from the rear and took away some key documents pertaining to a film production, a film script, CDs, besides damaging the computer system. She contended that there was no necessity for habitual thieves to do so. The police registered a case and took up investigation.

Stay away from Prakash Raj: TFPC
An advertisement from the TFPC (Telugu film producers counsel) appeared today (May 30th) in the newspapers, seeking the Telugu film fraternity, not to utilize the services of actor Prakash Raj. It informed that a resolution to this extent was inked in this regard at a coordination meeting of the TFPC and Movie Artistes' Association, dated March 19th, 2008. The decision was in tune with the allegation against him, the notice said. It also clarified that TFPC will not be extending any assistance to those producer who opt for the services of Prakash Raj.

Rajnikanth in CBSE syllabus
A new lesson on Friendship has come up in the CBSE (VI) syllabus. The lesson titled From Conductor to Film Star narrates the real life incidents in the superstar's career as a bus conductor in Bangalore. Raja Bahadur was the driver on 10A bus route while Rajni, the conductor. Bahadur recognizes the talent in Rajni and predicts that he would become a great actor. That friendly prediction helped Rajni determine to become a hero; and the rest is the hallmark of fame. Truth is stranger than fiction. Hence, Rajni found a place in the academics.

Sivaji-Kaveri Jha for Mauritius
Lead pair of the film Naa Girlfriend Baaga Rich - Sivaji and Khaveri Jha – will take part in the shoot of a couple of songs in Mauritius, from June 15th. Directed by Nagendra Kumar and produced by Kumar Brothers, the flick has music by Anand of Mantra fame. The first schedule of the film got finished today with a song on the heroine at a specially erected set in Hyderabad. The subject is stuffed with equal doses of comedy, sentiment and love, according to its director.

Bhale Dongalu, Kalidas turn 50 days
Tarun-Ileana starrer Bhale Dongalu and Sushanth's Kalidas have today finished their 50 days run. The former was directed by Vijayabhaskar, a droop of Bunty Aur Bubbly; and Kalidas came as the launch pad for yet another hero from Akkineni family. Tarun is currently engaged to a Krishnavamsi film. Sushanth recently finished his Thanks tour all over the state.

Dasavataram release postponed to June 12
Dasavataram, a Kamal's multi-lingual film, is postponed to June 12th. Two unconfirmed reasons are purported to be behind this latest development. 1) Amitabh-Ramgopal Varma's starrer Sarkar Raj is releasing on June 6th. As such, the Big B himself had personally sought producer Oscar Ravichandran to haul Dasavataram's release till a week (Big B was present at the music launch of Dasavatharam too). 2) The printing work is being handled by Adlabs. The film is said to be hitting the marquee worldwide with more than 1000 prints. Seen from the side of this gigantic number of prints, it seems unsure to prepare the bulk in a week's time from now. Anyways, post the audio release by Jackie Chan, the publicity for the film touched the maximum levels.

Tirupati show confirmed at 7.a.m
Midnight shows of Pandurangadu are cancelled in Tirupati. The opening show will be screened at 7.00 a.m, reliable sources said.

Dilemma over Pandurangadu midnight show in Tirpuati
Tirupati, the one and the only pilgrim centre notorious for its midnight and early pre-dawn shows of the films belonging to heroes with frenzied public demand, gets ready for the rare experience for NBK's Pandurangdu, which is officially hitting the screens in Andhra Pradesh, in the next 10 hours. In all five theatres are spruced up for the breaking shows, possibly between 12.30 and 2.00 am. However, reports said the prints had not yet reached the centre, latest by 11.00 pm. The chances of the pre-dawn shows getting cancelled at any moment is not ruled out, in the wake of a sentiment factor attached to Nandamuri Balakrishna. Meanwhile, it is said that both Balakishna and NTR would be jointly watching the preview of the film at Dr. Ramanaidu building Complex, in the wee hours of tomorrow.

Kajal is Big C brand ambassador
Kajal Agarwal, the new sensation in the queen-dom of Telugu film industry, took up the reigns of Big C as its brand ambassador. Her entry marks the close of Charmi's 18-month-long stint with this multi-brand mobile selling company. Currently, Kajal is paired up with Ramcharan Tej for his second film in the direction of SS Rajamouli.

Banyan tree in dream bungalow - Suhasini
Actress Suhasini, who made her debut as TV anchor in Telugu, said that her dream house, a palatial bungalow, is getting ready at the sizzling hill station Kodaikanal in Tamilnadu. "In two or three weeks, it will be ready for occupation." She further said that it had been a fervent dream her hubby Maniratnam to have a giant banyan tree in the dream house.

Megastar's bungee jump recalled
Megastar Chiranjeevi would not have done that famous 1200 feet bungee jump for the film Bavagaru Bagunnara, but for his lakhs of fans. He is the richest man even beating Bill Gates with priceless love from crores of people, said Nagababu. He addressed a public meeting at Nandyal, where he arrived to take part in a film shoot. "In the service of people, we are ready for any sacrifices," he stated, stressing the need for further strengthening activities like blood and eye donations. Later, when the media asked him about the possible date of Chiru's political entry, he said that that would be announced soon. "I know people recognized me as the public representative of Chiranjeevi. But, I prefer the announcement from him, directly." A big crowd thronged the venue and cheered Nagababu.

German song in Telugu film
Debut director Revanth came up with a psychological subject on the celluloid, giving it the title Hitler – The Indian Connection. Revanth contention is that though Hitler's oppression was gone with II World War, its existence could still be seen elsewhere in the world. He complains that the film actors have built an imaginary world around them and are spreading social evils like violence. This is one such trait of Hitlerism, he says. In order to justify his comparison of the mindset of the film personalities with the Nazis, Revant said he has introduced a German song in the film. Before this flick, he ventured into industry with the film titled Varnam, which is yet to release.

Music merchant's film from Aug 1
Sridhar Reddy of audio company Madhura Entertainments is making his debut as director. With tentative Snehageetam, the flick will have all the new cast for which a talent hunt will be organized, seeking entries globally. The film will be launched on August 1st. Sources confirmed that the film is about a romantic love story. Of late, Reddy is seen taking active part in several of film functions.

Not ready for politics: Taraka Ratna
Nandamuri Taraka Ratna said that the time is not ripe for him to enter the politics, but expressed his readiness to jump into the rut as and when the same is demanded. Talking to reporters at Kurnool, where he is shooting for his latest film Venkatadri, he predicted that TDP would rule the roost in the coming elections. Regarding his film, he said it is a complete mass film with action, comedy, sentiment and love, suffice to make a blockbuster.

Aryan Rajesh tryst with 40 fighters
A stunt-sequence with Aryan Rajesh and forty fighters is under progress for the newly-launched film of the actor, costarring Srihari. Launched on Living Legendz Creations banner, the film was launched on May 19th and so far finished some vital portions of talkie and a four-day fight and chase sequence in various locations of the city. "Apart from stylish stunts, Rajesh will also be entertaining the crowds with energetic dance numbers. The chase sequence is not introduced just to give hype to the hero, but it comes naturally in tune with the script. It is going to be a major highlight in the film, and bring the break to the hero," said its executive producer Ravikumar. Ramakrishna directs the movie.

I will campaign for TDP: Balakrishna
Actor Nandamuri Balakrishna today announced that he would be taking active part in the campaign for Telugu Desam Party for the ensuing general elections in the state. "I will soon take a decision on joining the TDP," the actor said. Talking to reporters at Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital, he said that he was not a stranger to the activists of the TDP. When asked whether he would be inviting his sister Purandareswari into the TDP, he said there would be no such gesture directly from him. Interestingly, Purandareswari's husband Daggupati Venkateswara Rao was seen accompanying Balakrishna. The actor was seen in an upbeat mood, on the eve of his latest film Pandurangadu's release.

Ready to canvass for Chiranjeevi: Suman
Hero turned current-on-screen villain Suman said that he was ever ready to take up campaigning for the party of megastar Chiranjeevi. Talking to the media at the fort town Bobbili in Vizianagaram district, Suman hoped that under Chiranjeevi's leadership, women and the downtrodden sections would be benefited. Regarding films, he said that he looked forward to do more and more devotional films.

Kalyanram launches book on NTR
Nandamuri Kalyanram today launched a book on late NT Rama Rao, to commemorate the latter's 86th birthday celebrations. The publication is titled Nayakudu-Kathanayakudu, written by Todupunuri Friends.

40 huts gutted at Film Nagar
Fire gutted about 40 thatched houses at Tarakarama Nagar in Film Nagar, Hyderabad, on Tuesday evening. The fire broke out all of a sudden that by the time the fire-fighting equipment arrived, already the damage was optimal. A vehicle belonging to Ramanaidu Studios and some pushcarts were also gutted.

Asin’s housemaid safe in Mumbai
The Chennai police received a complaint from a woman, mother of actress Asin’s housemaid, stating that her daughter was missing. Bhulya (24), has been working as domestic help for the last five years at Asin’s house at Golden Apartments at Chetpet area. As per the complaint, the girl used to visit her house thrice in a week, but didn’t turn up for the last since a week. The woman further alleged that when she went to enquire at the actress’ house, she was threatened by the security guards. Following the complaint, the Chennai city commissioner ordered the area police to look into the matter. At last, the actress was contacted on her mobile. She confirmed that the housemaid was safe with her in Mumbai; and sympathized with the old woman, for her motherly-tension.

Clean U to Pandurangadu
K. Raghavendra Rao-directed Nandamuri Balakrishna starrer Pandurangadu on RK Film banner underwent censor formalities last night and obtained a clean U certificate. The film is set for release on May 30th. Though it’s a devotional film, it film is said to have some passionate streaks of romance between Tabu and Balakrishna, who plays dual roles.

Ram - Hansika - Tamanna's Josh?
Producer MS Raju was so passionate about his forthcoming venture, starring Ram, Hansika and Tamanna under the direction of B. Gopal. For this film, he has registered a title Josh. The film awaits launch soon.

Kamna ready for two more films
Kamna Jetmalani, who plays heroine for Raja in Andamaina Abaddam, was last seen onscreen in bilingual film Toss in Telugu and Kannada, last year. When asked why she took a long gap, she retorted, saying: “It was released ten months ago. How can you say, it’s a long gap.” She told Idlebrain that she heard half-a-dozen scripts; and would be doing two Telugu films, soon.

Chilakalapudi in Pandurangadu fervor
Chilakalapudi is not a sleepy village these days. It is all spruced up to welcome the release of Pandurangadu, the devotional film of Nandamuri Balakrishna, on May 30th. Ever since the launch of the film's audio, the number of devotees visiting the temple of Lord Panduranga, is increased by twenty percent on a regular basis, a priest maintained. Special pujas would be performed on May 29th and 30th on the special request of devotees. A devotional procession with the participation of women and youth is planned from the village to the releasing theatre in Machilipatnam. The village is said to be in the grip of a festive atmosphere. It is not an exaggeration that Tallapaka in Kadapa district was not known to many till the release of KRR's Annamayya. After the release of his Ramadasu, the number of visitors at Ramadas Bandhikana at Golconda Fort has increased by leaps and bounds.

Krishna plans B'Day with fans
Superstar Krishna will be celebrating his birthday on May 31st in Hyderabad amidst his fans, said the representative of Padmalaya Studios. At present, Krishna is in Ooty and will be arriving in Hyderabad in a couple of days. The actor has been following the tradition of celebrating the B'Day with his fans for the last several years. After Swagatham, a movie intended for family crowds, Dasarath geared up for a romantic entertainer. "I call this – The Journey of a Boy. A boy attaining the age of 14 thinks that he got matured in society and he is fit for anything. My concentration is about the growth of a boy between 16 and 24 I hope to deal the phases meticulously. I am going to introduce new artistes in tune with the script. A small college backdrop will be there," Dasarath said. The movie will be officially launched on June 13th. When asked whether he was inspired by a movie like Happy Days, Dasarath rejected any such influence. Mickey J. Mayer is likely to be the music director for this flick. Being a very delicate and youthful subject, music is said to have its lion's share.

MAA Music gets ready for test run
MAA Music, extension of popular entertainment channel MAA TV, is going to have its trail run from May 30th. The full-fledged commercial operations are likely in the coming couple of months. Swapnesh Chintala – a passionate music lover and an youngster – heads the operations of this channel.

Thoorpu Padamara, an NRI love story
Shoot of a crossover film titled Thoorpu Padamara, starring new faces Arun and Ramita Shetty, is finished but for two songs. Produced and directed by Ramesh Tummala (who earlier starred and made the film Neeli Meghalu), it is coming up as a romantic entertainer. "An NRI chap comes to India to get married. He falls in love with a girl here. What happened later following differences between their individualities forms the crux of the subject," Ramesh said. Music is by Gorantla Krishna. Post production works are going on at a brisk pace. Canning of the left-out songs will be finished in the first week of June. "We re going to premiere the film at the forthcoming ATA conclave in July," Ramesh is hopeful. Prassad Konda, Padmini, Sahadev, Meena Singh, Ganga Narasimha Reddy, Suresh, Bharath Raj, Baby Pravalika and others form the cast. Rajesh Katuri is the cinematographer.

Nagababu sees larger role by youth
Actor and megastar's brother K. Nagababu underlined the urgent need for the youth to take to active participation in social service. Inaugurating a blood donation camp at Bhagyanagar locality in city, the actor said: "Social service is an effective tool which the youth could use for creating a great deal of public awareness on various ills such as corruption. This will also bring them fast recognition," he said. Nagababu's frequent participation in public programs organized by the fans assumes significance in the backdrop of wide reports about his proposed political entry.

Rangeela producer passed away
Jhammu Sugandh, senior Bollywood filmmaker and financier, has today breathed his last at a private hospital, Zuhu, Mumbai, after suffering from a severe blood leak in the brain, followed by cardic arrest. In his late 50s, Sugandh produced some of the popular films like Rangeela with Ramgopal Varma, Hum Dil Chuke Sanam of Bhansali, Aks of Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra and and Kaalpurush of Buddhadev Dasgupta. Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na, starring Imraan Khan, Aamir Khan's nephew, was his last venture. In the last couple of years, Sugandh incurred huge losses on the film. After the film got stalled for a year, it was Aamir Khan who got the production resumed. It is touching to note that the film is set for release on July 6th. Several Bollywood biggies expressed condolences on the sudden demise of Sugandh.

Kodi creates Happy Days flutter
Unit of Kodi Ramakrishna's latest film got thrilled to have surging crowds at the shooting location – a college at Panyam in Kurnool district. The shoot is on since a couple of days there. The film stars Dheeraj, Samrat and Vijay. Gayatri (one of the heroines in Happy Days) is playing the second heroine, with plume female lead by a Mallu girl. What's the reason for throng of big crowds at the venue? Passing on from ear to ear, it got to a wild spread in the surrounding villages that Happy Days heroes and heroines had arrived at Panyam. The youthful crowds seeing the three heroes were shocked that they didn't know any of them at all. However, they heaved a sigh of relief for their gasping trip – with the sight of Gayatri. Nandamuri Balakrishna's ready-for-release devotional film Pandurangadu is being dedicated to late NT Rama Rao, as a tribute to his blockbuster of the mid 50s Panduranga Mahatyam, according to director K. Raghavendra Rao. He said the film would be hitting the screens on May 30th all over the world. Its music by MM Keeravani is doing well in the market, recently celebrating the double platinum.

Saikumar defeated in K'taka polls
Dialogue king Saikumar, who contested from the Bhagepalli assembly constituency in down south of Karnataka as BJP candidate, has lost to his Congress rival Sampangi. His defeat comes as a big surprise both in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, where he enjoys good fan following. Bhagepalli borders with Anantapur district, wielding a big share of Telugu-speaking population, besides housing the native place of his mother. To note here, the actor, a couple of months ago, said that he had been leaving no stone unturned in his constituency to impress on the voters. However, the whirlwind election campaign of Chief Minister Dr. YS Rajasekhar Reddy in this Telugu belt in Karnataka, worked against the hopes of Saikumar.

Kucheludu likely on July 18th
Shoot of Kucheludu, a bilingual film of superstar Rajnikanth, is under brisk progress. Directed by P. Vasu and produced by Ashwini Dutt, the flick's tentative release date is set as July 18th. Director Vasu is said to be determined on the date and thus has speeded up the work on the sets. Rajni plays the real-time role as superstar in the film, costarring Sneha, Nayantara, Mamta Mohandas, Jagapati Babu and Meena for Telugu version. Reports say, Rajni will appear in as many as twenty getups in a song sequence.

Jayam sentiment for Nitin's Victory
Plans are afoot for the release of Nitin's latest Victory on June 14th. Exactly on this date, six years ago (2002), Nitin's debut film Jayam with Teja as director ripped out youthful sensation all over the state. Till now we are familiar with such sentiment with release dates of previous blockbusters infused among the family circles of Chiranjeevi and NTR. Balaadur likely title for Ravi Teja film
Ravi Teja-Anushka combine film in the direction of Uday Shankar with D. Suresh Babu producing it is likely to have a mass title Balaadur. The film is in the last leg of its production and is likely to hit the marquee in June last. Interestingly, info about the film's progress is little known to the public after the tragic incident of Ravi Teja's dupe getting killed in the river mishap near Rajahmundry, recently.

Chiru in Ali's Sombheri
Megastar Chiranjeevi is going to appear in Ali's latest starrer Sombheri (with tagline Sobhanaaniki Kuda Baddakasthude). Produced by Y. Venkat Rao with debut direction by lyricst Jonnavithula Ramalingeswara Rao, the film has a song on creating awareness over killer disease AIDS, with sharing steps with a busy dancer from Mumbai. As the song goes on, the audience will see the picture of Chiranjeevi in one shot, with next frame followed by that of Mother Theresa. After the film's audio release by AR Rehman, the publicity prompted director Jonnavittula to step up the hype. The film was scheduled to release in the second week of May, but it didn't happen. Latest, the film is likely to hit the screens next week.

MS Raju's debut as actor
Words spoken in the lighter vein could turn into deeds, sometimes. Star producer turned director MS Raju is set to play a cameo in Vinayakudu, the new film starring Sonia (Sravanti of Happy Days) opposite a debut hero Krishnudu. During the launch of the film's logo at a star hotel in city on April 13th last, MS Raju was a guest, who said that he was popularly called as Vinayakudu in Telugu film industry. When producer Prem Kumar sought Raju to do a role in his film, the latter didn't confirm. Now, Raju will be seen making his debut as an artiste, sparing a day of his schedule for the film.

Dr. Nagabhairava hospitalized
Popular film writer Dr. Nagabairava Koteswara Rao (77) is undergoing emergency treatment at a corporate hospital in city. He has been suffering from cancer and diabetic-related ailments. A close associate of late actor and former chief minister NT Rama Rao, the writer penned the script for the film Brahmarshi Viswamitra, apart from writing lyrics for a good number of movies. Telugu university conferred honorary doctorate on him in 90s. During a career spanning over three decades, he had introduced 200 upcoming lyricists to the film and literary circles.

In-house meet of Chiru fans
An in-house meet with representatives of megastar Chiranjeevi's statewide fans associations is going to be held this evening (May 24th) at RNR auditorium, Hyderabad. Allu Arvind and Nagababu are likely to address the sessions with participation of about three thousand select delegates. This development assumed significance in the wake of Chiru's proposed political entry.

Warner Bros film with Mahesh Babu
The combination of Mahesh Babu and Puri Jagan is going to be repeated very soon. This film will be produced by Warner Bros. Pictures India and Ocher Studios jointly. This film is going to be a trilingual film in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi. Ocher Studios is owned by Soundarya – daughter of superstar Rajnikant. Soundarya is currently directing an animation film titled Sultan (10 million dollar project) based on her father’s life story. This film will be launched in April 2009 and will be released in December 2009.

Parugu collects 21 crores
In a press meet held today producer Dil Raju said that his latest film Parugu has collected a gross of 21 crores in just three. He also said that Parugu is going to collect more than what Bommarillu and Desamuduru collected in the past. This film is made with family crowds in mind, and Dil Raju says that 60% of the crowds are family audiences in Parugu theaters.

Adlabs acquires 25 screens in AP
Anil Ambani’s Adlabs Cinemas has bought 25 screens in Andhra Pradesh. The 3-screen Adlabs Goldspot multiplex in Hyderabad is launched today. Adlabs will have three more multiplexes in city at Emar Megaplex, Maheswari-Parameswari complex and Shiv-Ganga theater complex. These three multiplexes will together host 14 screens. Adlabs will have 4 screen multiplex in Warangal. It is also building 2 screen theaters in Tenali and Vijayanagaram.

Adlabs Hyderabad is going to be opened for public from 23 May onwards. Aamir Khan visits Kadapa
Aamir Khan who is in Hyderabad to shoot for the Hindi remake of ‘Gajini’ in the direction of Murugadoss has taken a day off to visit the famous darga in Kadapa yesterday. Charmme in and as Manorama
Eshwar Reddy, the successful director of the film Mee Sreyobhilashi, is tucking his loins for his next titled Manorama. Charmme, who unleashed punch into the realm of female-oriented films with Mantra, is going to be the heroine. M. Srinivasa Rao is producing the film on the newly-flaoted Sri Pavitra Arts banner. A Rs. 40 lakh set is getting ready for the film, to be shot through a single schedule commencing in July, and continuing into August and September. Koti scores the music. Jeevita talks politics in Tirumala
Actress Jeevita today made her political ambitions crystal clear. "I am ready to accept the responsibility as state Mahila Congress chief, if the party high command wants to me through." She worshipped at the famous hilltop temple of Lord Venkateshwara at Tirumala. After dharshan, she spoke to the media personnel, who met her, outside the temple premises. "I always wanted to take active part in politics, which I felt, the effective platform for social service." She further reeled out her achievements for the poor and downtrodden through a trust floated by her family. When asked whether she would join the proposed party of megastar Chiranjeevi, she cleverly quipped, saying: "I will join a party with political experience." With regard to the film Gorintaku, which stars her hubby Dr. Rajasekhar, she expressed confidence that the movie would become a blockbuster. Tirumala is widely viewed as a sacred place, where talking about politics is considered a sin. There have been objections from time to time about talking politics in Tirumala. Though ace film personalities like Ambitabh Bacchan and Rajnikanth visited Tirumala several times, they never uttered single word about politics. We have to wait and see whether there would be any protest to this Jeevita's turn of things.

Bujjigadu previewed to Mohan Babu family
Bujjigadu – Made in Chennai, the latest film of Puri Jagannath, starring Prabhas and Trisha, got previewed today morning at Prasad Labs, Hyderabad. Veteran actor Dr. Mohan Babu, who played a key role as heroine's brother, watched the preview along with his family members, including Vishnu and Manoj. They are said to have expressed their satisfaction at the result, predicting a big hit out of it. Meanwhile, the film is releasing all over the state on May 22.

Ramyakrishna in Mr. Gireesam
Actress Ramyakrishna is said to have accepted to play a vital role in the film titled Mr. Gireesam, which stars lead comedian Krishna Bhagwan in the title role. Viswaprasad, who worked for a good number of TV serials, is making his debut as director on the big screen with this film. Interestingly, sources maintained that the title and the combination of Ramyakrishna and Krishna Bhagwan might make one expect a romantic between them on the lines of a John Appa Rao 40 +. But, Ramyakrishna will be playing the role of a politically influential woman, while Krishna Bhagwan plays the confidante to her. Also, there will not be any song sequence between the two, sources said. The film is also expected to be finished in just a four-week schedule. Further details are awaited.

Bhumika turning producer
Reports say topnotch heroine Bhumika Chawla is turning producer and her hubby too is said to be encouraging the actress to accomplish the task of new avatar. It was further mentioned that Bhumika had already met her colleague Charmi and sought her to be the heroine in her bilingual film in Hindi and Telugu to be made on the proposed banner Downtown Films. A youngster who worked with some f the popular directors is likely to wield the megaphone for this venture. However, there is no official confirmation in this regard.

Paruchuri Ravi's new film
Paruchuri Ravi, screen heir of Paruchuri Brothers, is busy shooting for his new film on Leo Entertainments banner. This project is not Junction, which was launched in December last year. It is altogether a new subject thoroughly worked upon by Paruchuri brothers, with new director Anil. Shoot is currently going on silently at Ramanaidu cine village, Nanakramguda. To note here, Ravi's launch pad Junction went off the sets four months ago. Premraj, the disciple of ace dialogue writers, was introduced as director for that film. It is widely believed that the film is being shelved.

Vishnu reduces weight

Annadanam for Kantri release
C Aswini Dutt has done annadanam for 50 days and 100 days of his blockbusters Indra and Subhalagnam. With the confidence he has for the success of Kantri, he will be doing Annadanam in all major centers on the release day itself. Kantri is all set to release all over the world with 300 prints. NTR, Hansika Motwani and Tanishaa played main leads. Meher Ramesh directed the film.

Actor Sharvanand who got good critical acclaim for his films like Amma Cheppindi and Gamyam seem to have attracted the attention of Tamil film industry. Jakir who did one of the roles in Bachelors film is directing a film titled ‘Idi Asalu Katha’ which features Avin and Akanksha in the main leads. Jakir is also doing a vital role. The talkie part of the film is over. Jakir says that he got inspired from Alfred Hitchcock films to make this thriller.

NTR’s Bharata Natyam in Kantri
NTR has been a trained and professional classical dancer since his childhood. Though he acted in 15 films so far, he never did Bharata Natyam in any of those films. He is doing Bharata Natyam in Kantri film which is all set to release on 9 May. Meher Ramesh is directing this film and C Aswini Dutt is producing it.

Ravi Teja’s film songs at Russia
The unit of Ravi Teja’s latest film went to Russia now to can a couple of songs on Ravi Teja and Anushka. Suresh Productions is producing this film in the direction of Udaya Shankar (Kalisundam Raa fame). This film was recently in the news for the death of a junior artist who acted as dupe in Ravi Teja near Rajahmundry.

Srihari’s Samrajyam
Srihari is going to act in a film titled ‘Samrajyam’ in the direction of Veeru K. As the title suggests this film deals with faction and mafia elements. Sameeksha and Malavika are doing female leads. Deva composes music. This film will go to floors on 12 May. Producer Muthyala Anjaneyulu is planning to release the film on 8 August.

Kantri on 9 May
NTR’s Kantri is all set to release on 9 May. The shooting is complete on 30 of April. The date is confirmed today. Hankita Motwani and Tanishaa are doing female leads in this mass entertainer with six songs and abundant fights. Meher Ramesh directs this film. Mani Sharma composed music. C Aswini Dutt produces it.

Mohan Babu plays saint in Pandu Rangadu
Mohan Babu did the role of a saint who is instrumental in converting Pundareekudu (played by Bala Krishna) into devotee. Bala Krishna does two roles of lord and devotee. This film is based on classic Panduranga Mahatyam. Tabu, Sneha, Archana and Suhasini are doing female leads. This film is expected to release on 30 of May.

Vinayakudu shooting started today
