On the occasion of 70th birthday of He-Man Shobhan Babu, we are presenting some interesting facts of his career best year 1975, and in fact, that year for him is such that no other hero never had such a great year in their career.

He-Man acted in 8 films in that year. All films are directed by different directors.

MANY MILESTONE RECORDS WERE CREATED IN THAT YEAR.

Some of them are:

1. 1975 is the first year in which a hero acted in 8 color films in a single year. (Previous record was 6 color films in one year. That is also held by Shobhan in 1974). Among 8 films, 4 films are mass films and 4 films are class films. Also among these 8 films, four films are on hero’s title role and the rest are general titles.

2. 1975 is the first year in which a hero acted in 4 color films in a year on title role (Babu, Jebudonga, Gunavanthudu, Soggadu)

3. All 8 films had direct 50 days run in at least one center in the state. As a single hero, this is an all time record (a hero should at least act in 7 films in one year). This is an everlasting record among color films.

3. All 8 films had minimum respectable run in at least 15 centers each which is an everlasting record among color films.

4. Seven films had minimum respectable run in at least 20 centers each which is an everlasting record among color films (except Gunavanthudu all others).

5. A hero’s 6 color films had 100 days run in a year which is for first time in telugu film history.

6. Shobhan is the first hero to have 6 100 days films in one year in Hyderabad (Devudu Chesina Pelli, Babu, Jeevana Jyothi, Balipeetam, Jebudonga, and Soggadu).

7. Shobhan is the first hero to have 6 color 100 days films in Vijayawada (Devudu Chesina Pelli, Babu, Jeevana Jyothi, Balipeetam, Jebudonga, and Soggadu).

8. Five films had direct 100 days run in at least one center in A.P. which is an all time record as a single hero as far as color films are concerned.

7. Shobhan is the first hero to have 5 color 100 days films in Vishakapatnam (Babu, Jeevana Jyothi, Balipeetam, Jebudonga, and Soggadu).

8. Shobhan is the first hero to have 4 direct 100 days color films in a single year in two centers. (Hyderabad and Guntur) [After 20 years, Victory Venkatesh equaled this record in 1996).

9. Shobhan is the only hero to have 4 direct 100 days color films in a single year in Guntur. This is still a record.

10. Shobhan is the only hero to have 4 direct 100 days color films in a single year in Hyderabad.

64. In a single year, In Andhra Pradesh, He-Man is the first hero to have direct 50 days films in as many as 70 theaters on title role in first release. It took long time for any other hero to achieve this record.

65. He-Man Shobhan's another unqiue record is he has the maximum total run (sum of all direct runnings of films in the main theater released in a year) for color films. which can never be surpassed by another hero. One year total running 644 days in 1975. (Apart from the 7 direct 50 days films, we have to add Andaroo Manchivare - 42 days in Sudarsan 35 mm).

66. He-Man is the only hero to have direct 100 days on title role in one A.c. theater and one non-A.c. theater in a same year. This is a unique record. (1975 - A.c. - Sangam - Jebudonga; non-A.c.-Basant - Soggadu).

67. Soggadu is the only color film which had a direct 100 days run in a nonA/c theater on titlerole in Hyderabad (Basant).

68. He-Man is the first hero to have two direct 100 days films on title role in a single year (1975 - Jebudonga and Soggadu).

76. For the first time, two color films released in the same month had 70-day direct run in 4 centers (Babu & Jeevana Jyothi) (May 1975).

77. All 8 films in Hyderabad main theaters, were houseful for first 10 days which is a splendid record and cannot be surpassed by any other hero in future also.

78. The total gross of 8 films in twin cities in 1975 was more than 50 lakhs which was a tremendous record in those days (including side theaters).

79. He-Man is the first hero to collect 3 lakhs in as many as 20 theaters across the state in a single theater which was a sensational record as previously no other hero did have at least in 5 theaters in a single year.

80. He-Man is the first hero to collect 4 lakhs in as many as 8 theaters across the state in a single theater which was a sensational record as previously no other hero did have at least in 3 theaters in a single year.

81. All 8 films in 1975 collected 3 lakhs; seven films collected 3.5 lakhs; six films collected 4 lakhs; 5 films collected 5 lakhs in Hyderabad main theaters which is a record for long time.

82. When Shobhan has direct 100 days in as many as 21 centers in this year, no other leading hero has in at least 8 centers.

83. When Shobhan has 2 direct 100 days films in 10 centers in this year, no other leading hero has in at least 2 centers.

INDIVIDUAL FILM FACTS

DEVUDU CHESINA PELLI

This is the first film of Shobhan in this year.

91. This film created history among class or ladies or sentimental films by collecting 25 lakhs in 25 days which is a huge amount in those days in par with big mass films level.

92. This is also the first film for which only ladies were allowed on one day in third week for all shows.

ANDAROO MANCHIVARE

This film is the second film of He-Man in this year.

93. A remake of Kannada film “Bhoothayaa na maga,” was the first telugu film in history for which a village set was erected with a cost of 6 lakhs. This film was a flop. Still it had terrific run throughout Andhra Pradesh due to He-Man’s stardom.

BABU

This film is the third film of Shobhan in this year.

94. This film is the first telugu film which was produced with a budget of 25 lakhs. It was described as “1975 Rangula Vaibhavam.” This film is the debut film of Ace director K. Raghavendra Rao.

95. This film is the first telugu film which collected more than 15 lakhs in its first week in A.P. itself.

96. This is the first film in telugu film industry which completed one week run in 2 theaters in as as many as 20 centers. It took long time for any other hero to achieve it.

This is the eighth and last film of He-Man in this year.

166. One more fact is that as He-Man won 8 best actor awards in one year, he was felicitated by Nadigara thilakam Sivaji Ganesan fans in a public meeting. This is probably only incident of a hero felicitated by fans of another hero from another language.

So in any aspect, 1975 is the best year for not only Shobhan but also comparably for any hero forever.
