Face/Off: Rakshita's reaction to Teja's statement

30th June 2003
tell a friend

Recently director Teja appeared on Gemini Television and stated that Rakshita is not the heroine of the film Nijam. The real heroine is Talluri Rameswari. The scribes have got hold of actress Rakshita at the muhurat of 'Prem Nagar' and asked about her reaction. Here are the excerpts....

Have you come across the statement by Teja that Rakshita is not the heroine in Nijam?

I too saw Teja appearing on the Gemini TV and saying that Rakshita is not the heroine. It does not matter. Because, the film was released and its doing OK. I have done my best and I am happy about it. At the end of the day, it's my film! The mother character in the film has better footage and exposure in the film. Mother's character is really good.

Did you have any problems with Teja, while working for the film Nijam?

No. I never had any kind of real problems during the making of the film.

Are you comfortable doing the paper balls scene?

My character in Nijam is that of very innocent and small girl, who tries to do anything she can to impress the hero. She is just a small girl and she is not bothered about what people think.

On the first day of the shooting, I was asked to do the paper balls scene. I felt really uncomfortable. But Teja has got me through it. Teja told me not to bother about the 100 people seeing me on the sets. He asked me to imagine 10,000 people seeing it in theater. I really respect him for what he is. But at the end of the film whatever he said (that Rakshita was not the heroine in Nijam) was really offending.

Did Teja slap you while making of the film?

The first day when I entered the sets, I told him that I heard about him slapping heroines. Then Teja said that he does not mean to slap anybody. But he does it to get the right kind of emotions out of the actors/actresses. I guess I made it clear to him on the day one itself that I do not want to be slapped.

What are you planning to do regarding the statement of Teja?

More than me, the people close to me (the directors and heroes I worked with) are offended by the Teja's statement that Rakshita is not the heroine of the film Nijam.

I guess fighting back about this issue is big stupidity. I am just concerned about what audiences think about me, but not Teja. I have done justice to my role. Even Teja knows about it. I am not bothered about what Teja says.
