Sundance Film Festival is the largest Independent cinema festival in the United States, held every January in Park City, Utah. This year we have an Indian entry in the form of 'Peepli Live'.

Produced by Aamir Khan and his wife Kiran Rao, the movie is directed by Anusha Rizvi. The movie revolves around a poor farmer, Natha, who plans to commit suicide to take advantage of Government's dole for the affected families.

Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao and Anusha Rizvi are here between January 23rd and January 30th to promote the movie. After the screening on 26th January at Broadway Theater in Salt Lake City downtown, Aamir and director Anusha took questions from the audience and emphasized that the intention of the movie is not to high light the farmers suicides in India but is rather a satirical take on the media exaggeration and political drama that prevails in India.

The movie got a good response from the audience at the premiere and was rated as entertaining and hilarious.

One being asked if he planned an Indian commercial release, Aamir responded that he has not given a thought to it and he first wanted to gauge the response of non-Indian, world wide audience to that kind of subject.

On a humorous side note, when an Indian lady asked him as to why Indian movies portray only problems and not present solutions, he spontaneously responded by asking her if she had not seen '3 Idiots'. The audience burst out in to laughter and applauded him for his riposte.

After the Q&A, Aamir obliged the local Indian crowd by giving autographs and taking pictures with them.
