Audio of Ram Gopal Varma’s Aggi (Aag in Hindi) was launched at a grand curtain-raiser arranged in Taj Krishna hotel in Hyderabad on the night of 23 August. This function was attended by Amitabh Bachchan, Ram Gopal Varma, Nisha Kothari, Sushant Singh and Prasanth.

Ram Gopal Varma launched the audio and gave the first unit to Amitab Bachchan

Speaking on the occasion Ram Gopal Varma said, “I watched Sholay film for 26 times within four months of release of the film Sholay in the same theater. It’s been more than 30 years since the film is released. The technology is advanced and world is modern now. My Aag is a tribute to Sholay. Gabbar Singh character became an icon. When I asked Amitabh to play this role, he felt that I was joking. When I narrated my interpretation of Sholay film, he agreed to play the character. For me Gabbar Singh character is not a negative one, but an entertaining one.”

Amitabh Bachchan said, “I feel humbled when I hear how much Sholay film inspired Ram Gopal Varma. It was a great experience working with Ramu for this film. Aag is Ram Gopal Varma’s interpretation of the classic Sholay. Most of you might not be aware that I desperately wanted to play to the role of Gabbar Singh. But it went to the legendary actor Amjad Khan. Hyderabad city has always been very kind to me. People of Hyderabad are hospitable, kind and generous.”

Aggi film is being produced by Money Tree Entertainments. Ravindra Reddy is the director and Gaurav Sharma is the CEO.

Ravindra Reddy (Money Tree CEO) said, “Money Tree aspires to be a premiere South Indian movie production and distribution house. We already have distribution offices in Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chennai. We had a tie-up with Storm Pictures for four films. A film with Madhavan as hero in the direction of Kona Venkat is one. Homam - directed by JD Chakravarthy and starring Jagapati Babu, JD, Mamata Mohandas and Mahesh Manjrekar is the second one. We are also in talks with Ram Gopal Varma to distribute his future films.”
