Doondy - famous producer of yesteryears – died on 1st January 2007. AP Film chamber organized a condolence meet on the evening of 3rd January which was attended by seniors of Telugu cinema like Krishna, Vijaya Nirmala, D Rama Naidu, KL Narayana, G Adiseshagiri Rao, C Aswini Dutt, KC Sekhara Babu, Ashok Kumar, Burugapally Sivarama Krishna, VB Rajendra Prasad, Victory Madhusudhan, Tripuraneni Maharadhi, Tammareddy Krishna Murthy, Kaikala Satyanarayana, Balayya and MS Reddy.

Speaking on the occasion hero Krishna said, “Doondy is like my elder brother. He was a big producer when I went to Chennai to act in films. At that time I met him and asked him to give me some character in his films. He assured me that he would make me hero. Later of my first film got release. Doondy offered me the hero role in Gudachari 116 film. He had opportunity to make that film like NTR and ANR. But he preferred a newcomer like me. Since then I never looked back. I acted in majority of films produced by Doondy later. He has keen acumen for talent. During the shooting of Poratam he noticed Mahesh Babu. He was not aware that Mahesh is my son. He then predicted that Mahesh Babu would become number one which eventually became true. Doondy’s death is a personal loss to me.”
