tell a friend

Many people know Swapna Dutt (daughter of popular producer Aswini Dutt) as an aspiring producer but very few know that she is very genuine and a compassionate person. It would be appropriate to say that the young lady had made her public debut on a charitable note. On the 17th July evening at Ravi Narayana Reddy auditorium near Lotus Pond, she along with her friends have organised a programme called the Bliss, bringing a smile. Donations from this will go to the less fortunate in the orphanages. The young ladies Swapna Dutt, Shilpa and Rakhi have been a Santa Claus in turns, organised work shops for the children from three orphanages - St Theresa's, All God's Children and Radhakrishna Homes, brought out the talent in them to the fore, gave them an opportunity to come out of the four walls and above all brought cheer in their routine. At the end of the day one could see an angelic smile on the children whose parents have left them for good for no fault of theirs.

It is ironic that when celebrities in Hollywood do something noble they get good publicity, but in India when actors, page 3 people and celebrity kids do something for a social cause they get tagged as publicity hounds. But one should understand that getting media attention is not a difficult thing for these people and if they are really involved in it, they are meaning to and not doing it for publicity. But the bottom-line is it helps when they do it and it is essential to create awareness.

Well, the sultry evening took off on a colorful note with Sri Kondal Rao and Smt. Surekha Chiranjeevi lighting the lamp and a girl from an orphanage Apurva invoking the gods in a prayer song. That was followed by some classical dances by Mrs. Usha Rani, Shilpa, Dharini, Swapna Dutt, Meena Nataraj, Raaga, Akhila, Trisha, Apoorva, Rakhi and Praveena. A short film on special children of orphanages was also screened. Mrs. Aswini Dutt spoke about God’s children and Shilpa gave vote of thanks. Charmee and Uday Bhanu and other matinee idols sprinkled some glamour while a very low profile and motley group of audiences looked on. Swapna Dutt and her friends danced too. The highlight was the children's display of talent. They had apparently learnt all the dances in a span of ten days and what an ovation they'd got! Praveena choreographed the dances and was the silent crusader of the show.
