Vijay is producing a film titled Chaitram on Rakesh Circuits banner. Raju Poopati who directed films like Dham and Veedhi in the past is directing this movie. Muhurat of this film was held at Ramoji film city. Rajnikant, Shankar (Gentleman fame) and Sekhar V Joseph did the honors. Rajnikanth sounded the clapboard, Shankar directed the first shot and Sekhar V Joseph switched on the camera.

Producer Vijay said, “Surya is getting introduced as hero with this film. We are also introducing two heroines. The regular shooting will start from 15 May and the movie will be shot in Hyderabad, Karamchedu, Pollachi, Ramoji film city and Malaysia. I would like to thank Rajnikant and Shankar for gracing this occasion.”

Director Raja Poopati said, “I feel fortunate to get my movie inaugurated by great film personalities like Rajnikanth and Shankar. Chaitram film will have the tagline – the season of love. Flowers do blossom in Chaitram season. In out film, love blossoms in this season. We are capturing the phases of school, college and marriage in this movie. It will be a feel good movie with 80% comedy and 20% emotion.”
