Silver Jubilee Celebrations in Toronto
Three day event Friday, Saturday and Sunday

Friday:
The Telugu Cultural Association of Greater Toronto (TCAGT) organised its three day 25th Anniversary Silver Jubilee celebrations with great zeal in Toronto. Many Telugu people joined the celebrations held at Pearson Convention Center 2638 Steeles Avenue East, Brampton, Ontario, Canada. Several Telugu families from surrounding cities Buffalo, Brampton, Mississauga, Scarborough, Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Hamilton, Milton, Markham, Richmond hill and other areas have also joined the program that is packed with music, drama, dance, comedy and many more.

The Friday Banquet Gala Celebrations has begun with “Deeparadhana” and Canadian National Anthem. Hon. Justice Nooti Ramamohana Rao, High Court of Andhra Pradesh, Hon. Vice-Chairman Sri Dr. Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad, Central Institute of Hindi, TCAGT President Anitha Bezawada, Secretary Sailaja Payidiparty lit the light and Silver Jubilee Celebrations convenor Jagan Payidiparty provided greetings and started the event. Co-Convenor Surya Bezawada delivered the welcome address. President Mrs. Anitha Bezawada introduced Rupa and Radhika as the master of ceremonies.

Traditional Ganapathi Prayer Song Ganeshaya Dheemahi was performed by Akhila Rachakonda, Jakkula Purandhari, Kuchipudi dance performance by Jayalakshmi Haridasu, Mahishasura Mardhini, classical performance by Nadiya Shaikh, Sagara Sangamam dance by Aishu, Bollywood Medley By Uday Kalluri, Lyrical Hip-Hop/Semi Classical/Contemporary By Charan Rayapureddy and Sajini Sivamohan as the highlights of the evening and enjoyed it all the ages.

President Anitha Bezawada introduced the founder members and applauded their vision to serve the Telugu community in Canada by starting TCAGT 25 years ago. Initiated Grand felicitation to TCAGT Founder members Vijay Rao & Jyothi Bobbil, Rao & Saroja Komaravolu, Bose & Rani Vemuri, and Prabhu & Lata Kundurpi by Justice Nooti Rama Monhan Rao, Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad, Hon. Ontario Health and Long term Care Minister Dipika Damerla, and Dr. KVR Krishnaji, Chairman R.R. Lions Eye Hospital.

Ontario provincial Health and Long term Care Minister Dipika Damerla congratulated the committee in organising huge 25th anniversary celebrations and shared her happiness. Recalled her involvement and participation in this association for the past decade and the associations tremendous growth in numbers and numerous activities.

She brought the message from the Ontario's 25th Premier Hon. Kathleen Wynne, and presented the premiers certificate of appreciation to the TCAGT President Anitha Bezawada.

Harish Chandra Prasad Yarlagadda, Chairman, Malaxmi Group & Former Chairman CII-AP chapter attended as the Guest of Honour and informed that there is tremendous trade opportunities between Canada and Andhra Pradesh. Invited them to participate in the business summit on Saturday at the same venue.

Mr. Naval Bajaj, former president, Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC) acknowledged the Government of Telangana, and Government of Andhra Pradesh for the warm welcome to the Canadian Business Delegation that visited this January 2014. He reiterated the untapped trade opportunities in South India and Informed that the Canadian Business delegation is planning to Visit South India in the months of September and October this year.

He felicitated the South Indian Trade delegates Surya Bezawada, Abu Becker, Balasubramanian Khandaswami, and Kanmani Dhana Sekhar who were instrumental to bring the Canadian Delegation to South Indian cities Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam and Chennai. He appreciated for all their excellent and productive efforts to get the South Indian Businesses to the Canada-India file.

Indian Music with Non-stop entertainment. Melodious Musical Singing Performances by visiting play back singers Hema Chandra, Sravana Bhargavi, Sandhya, Hima Bindhu, Mallikarjun, Gopika Purnima and Simha take audience to the highest level of happiness, fun and excitement.

Delicious traditional authentic dinner was freshly prepared and served by the Banjara Restaurants. Participation and volunteer certificates distributed. Jagan Payidparthy provided the vote of thanks and the Friday banquet gal event concluded with Indian National Anthem.



Saturday:
The Saturday Celebrations has begun with “Deeparadhana” by Kalartna KV Satyanarayana garu, executive committee members and trustees lit the light and Silver Jubilee Celebrations convenor Jagan Payidiparty provided the welcome address.

Several music and dance programs were performed. Some of them are Kids Medley Dance by Neha Jarabandi, Sumedh Sastry, and Akhil Jarabandi, Medley Dance By Charan and group, Fusion Dance By Arush Mukkara.

TCAGT Organised Business summit on Indo-Canada trade relationships and business opportunities. Surya Bezawada, Co-Convenor welcomed the distinguished guests Hon. Vice-Chairman Sri Dr. Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad, Sri Harish Chandra Prasad Yarlagadda, Chairman, Malaxmi Group & Former Chairman CII-AP chapter, Mr. Naval Bajaj, former president, Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC).

Sri Harish Chandra Prasad Yarlagadda chaired the Business Summit. He elaborated the immediate need on Canada and South India trade relationships. Specifically brought the attention on building newly formed Andhra Pradesh state and the plenty of new business opportunities for the Canadian Business Investors to come and look into. Special category status will help many businesses to have huge bottom line growth. Invited Indo-Canadian Chamber of Commerce business delegation to come explore the emerging business opportunities.

Such as renewable energy sector, Dairy by-products and technologies, Agro Business-Food parks in India for food processing , Cold storage and Packaging, Energy Projects, Venture Capital Investment Projects in both Canada and India, Infrastructure development, Mining and many more.

Dr. Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad, explained on the huge opportunities in Education. Twinning of Universities between India and Canada, Student Exchange programs, and Joint venture opportunities in bringing the best in Skill development and Human Capital training which will be of great help in rebuilding the newly formed states.

Mr. Naval Bajaj, former president, Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC) responded to the invitation to bring Canadian Business investors to Andhra Pradesh. Reiterated that South India will be a great help in reaching the Honourable Prime Minister Stephen Harper's goal to increase the trade from $5b to $15b.

There was a huge interest from Canadian business people to invest in South India, and this summit is the first step to expedite the trade relationships between Canada and India.

Telugu Literary Program was conducted. President Anitha Bezawada invited the guest speakers and introduced the Master of Ceremonies Smt. Saroja Komaravolu and Smt. Madhu Bala Karavadi. Dr. Vasa Prabhavathi and Dr. Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasadm were attended as Guests of Honour.

Various literary topics were discussed. Guest speakers reiterated the need to preserve and promote Telugu Literature. Newly emerging social media technologies enhance the literary work and content to reach to the global communities in a short time span. Acknowledged that there is a huge literary talent in Canada that needs to be promoted by community organisations and literary groups. Both the Guest speakers answered the various questions from the participants.

TCAGT organised Continuous Medical Education (CME) Seminar. Co-Convenor Surya Bezawada welcomed the Guest speakers Dr. Rama Koneru, Dr Sachi Voruganti, and Dr Ananta Murthy to conduct the Medical Education Seminar. Dr. KVR Krishnaji, Chairman R.R. Lions Eye Hospital, attend as the Chief Guest and delivered the key note address. He presented the various charitable activities that were conducted by RR Lions Hospital. He applauded the sponsor organisations TANA and TCAGT for funding many programs in India.

Dr. Rama Koneru, lead the session and presented the developments in Oncology. Dr. Sachi Voruganti continued the presentation and educated the participants on dos and don'ts when they are in Cancer Treatment. Dr. Ananth Murthy answered many questions and concerns on the intensive care and educated the participants.

TCAGT and Participants appreciated all the doctors for their time and efforts to help the Telugu community in Canada.

Evening program started with Kavya Nayakalu, Classical Dance Ballet By Kala Ratna KV Satyanarayana and team. More than 20 participants participated in the Ballet, brought the Telugu Glory on the stage. It was an amazing performance and experience to all.

Hon. MP Joe Daniel, Member of Parliament, Canada and Mr. Prit Pal Singh, Consul, Consulate General of India Toronto honoured and applauded the Kala Ratna KV Satyanarayana and his team. Presented them with TCAGT mementos.

TCAGT Awarded the life time achievement award to Dr. KVR Krishnaji, Chairman R.R. Lions Eye Hospital. Convenor Dr. Jagan Payidiparthy accompanied Dr. KVR Krishnaji, and co-convenor Surya Bezawada provided the various charitable activities, achievements and international awards received by Dr. KVR Krisnaji and that made TCAGT to select him for this Life Time Achievement Award. Dr. Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad and Hon. MP Joe Daniel, Member of Parliament, applauded the significant achievements of Dr. KVR Krishnaji and felicitated with a Shawl and the memento. Dr. KVR Krishnaji expressed his happiness to receive this award and thanked all the organisers.

Dr. Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad provided his greetings, and spoke in Telugu. Applauded the activities and services by TCAGT for the past 25 years. Appreciated the founders, and all the current and previous committees for their commitment to preserve our Telugu Language and culture in Canada.

Hon. Justice Nooti Ramamohana Rao, High Court of Andhra Pradesh delivered the key note address. He touched on the importance of International relationships and specially the collaboration between India and Canada. He was so happy to see the cultural heritage and promotion of Telugu activities by TCAGT in Canada. Hon. MP Joe Daniel felicitated Hon. Justice Nooti Ramamohana Rao and his wife with a shawl and a memento.

Dr. Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad felicitated and Hon. MP Joe Daniel, Member of Parliament. In his address Hon. MP Joe Daniel, Member of Parliament shared his memories from the India Mission 2014 visit to Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam this January 2014. He applauded the TCAGT for their commitment to serve the Telugu Community in Canada. He is looking forward to welcome the South Indian delegation to Canada in the Month of September 2014.

Mega Live Musical Show with Non-stop entertainment by SS Thaman and his team of Melodious play back singers Hema Chandra, Sravana Bhargavi, Sandhya, Hima Bindhu, Mallikarjun, Gopika Purnima and Simha enthralled the audience with melodious and mesmerising musical latest numbers.

Dr. KVR Krishnaji, Chairman R.R. Lions Eye Hospital and Kala Ratna KV Satyanarayana felicitated SS Thaman and his team for the amazing musical show.

Secretary Sailaja Payidiparty provided the vote of thanks and the event ended with Indian National Anthem.

Sunday:
The final day Sunday Celebrations has begun with “Deeparadhana” by Telugu Seniors Ratna Sastry, Saroja Komaravolu, executive committee members and trustees lit the light and Silver Jubilee Celebrations co-convenor Surya Bezawada provided the welcome address. Invited Jayalakshmi Haridasu as the Master of Ceremonies.

Several music and singing programs were performed. Some of them are Kids Medley Dance by Neha Jarabandi, Sumedh Sastry, and Akhil Jarabandi, Medley Dance By Charan and group, Fusion Dance By Arush Mukkara.

Teugu Musical Show By Dhiraj Barla, Suresh Nittala, and Sandhya stood as the highlight of the evening.

TCAGT organised Telugu Matrimonial service. Bose and Rani Vemuri coordinated the session. Various brides and bride groom profiles are received. Collected various recommendations and ideas from the participants and committee members to secure the private data. Many participants were so happy to this imitative and they requested TCAGT to play a constructive role to help identify the best matches for their sons and daughters who have been living Canada and US.
