It can be a little agitating to read or watch false news about yourself, especially when it's the kind that can tarnish your image. And it seems like the recent reports by certain news houses about an alleged raid in the houses of anchors Anasuya Bharadwaj and Suma Kanakala really rubbed them on the wrong side.

A visibly irked Anasuya took to social media to rubbish the talk in a note where she wrote: "Media is meant to give information.. not to give personal assumptions or views.. We in the entertainment industry make a lot of sacrifices to be where we are and to earn the respect and name .. and Media as a powerful house should focus in doing good and lead the society to be good and not injure or impair one's hard earned personality.. (sic)"

She also pointed out the need to check on facts before reporting.

Suma also put out a strong word in a video which she captioned: "There is a news that gst raids have happened in my house . Which house ? Where? I have been a prompt payer of gst. I have worked hard to reach this position. Why don’t some newspapers and channels check the authenticity before posting such rubbish about me. #behuman#beresponsible (sic)"

This incident throws light on the problem of leading newspapers and TV channels using YouTube videos and websites as a source of news with zero fact checking.
