'Darbar', coming in the direction of 'Ghajini' and 'Thuppaki' helmer AR Murugadoss, has the legendary Rajinikanth in the lead. Presented by Subaskaran of Lyca Productions, which bankrolls huge movies, this film has the Superstar in the role of a cop named Aditya Arunachalam. To hit the screens as a Sankranthi treat, it will be released by the famous producer NV Prasad in the Telugu States.

Most recently, the film's rocking first number, 'Dhummu Dhooli', was unveiled. Composed by Anirudh Ravichander in a fitting way to suit Rajini's stellar image, it's written by Ananth Sriram and sung by the legendary SP Balasubrahmanyam. The song has been slaying it on the chartbusters, besides garnering 8 million views in Telugu and Tamil.

Speaking about the reception to the song, lyricist Ananth Sriram said, "My heart-felt pranams to the Telugu audience. I am extremely happy with the rousing reception. The Telugu version has clocked 2 million views already. The first song of Rajinikanth garu's movies is always special. I was fortunate to write such a song ('Marana Mass') for 'Peta' as well."

About SPB's contribution
"If the 'Peta' number was jointly rendered by SPB garu and Anirudh, this one has been exclusively sung by SPB garu. If the lyricist takes 50 steps, with his classy rendition, SPB garu takes a song another 50 steps ahead on his own. With the music and lyrics falling into place, his voice has only heightened the experience. The Telugu audience have proved once again that they readily embrace any song regardless of whether it is from a straight film or otherwise."

About experimenting with lyrics
"I have done some experimentation in terms of lyrics. For example, the line 'Nalupu rangunna simham vacchesindu!' Another example is, 'Inupa rod alle chethulu kattuku koorchunte thuppu patti pothav. Adhe kanuka pani chesthunte naala eppudu young ga untav'. I have tried to convey a strong message through the Rajini song. By blending massy vibes with message-oriented lines, I have tried to delight the audience."

Happy to be writing for Rajinikanth garu
"It was for 'Kathanayakudu' that I wrote for Rajinikanth garu for the first time; it's titled 'Superstar'. It was a hit. I have since written for 'Vikrama Simha', '2.0' and 'Peta'. I thank the listeners for warming up to each of them. The songs 'Bulliguvaa' and 'Priyamavu Priyamavu' from '2.0' were big hits."

For Chiranjeevi garu then, with Rajini garu now
AR Murugadoss garu's films are message-driven, entertaining. He doesn't try to prove his intelligence for the sake of it. His films are endearing, as they can be understood easily by one and all. 'Darbar' is an amazing cop story. I wish that this one will be a blockbuster like his previous movies. I had worked on 'Stalin' for Murugadoss garu for the first time. 'Parare Parare', Chiranjeevi garu's intro song in that movie, was by me. After all these years, I have penned an intro song for Rajinikanth garu under Murugadoss garu's direction. I hope this association of ours will continue.

The producers are lovely to work with
Lyca Productions has been making movies with Rajini garu. At the same time, they are encouraging small movies as well. They are very good producers who respect their technicians and artists. I hope that 'Darbar' becomes their biggest hit in Telugu. NV Prasad garu is going to present it to the Telugu audience and I wish him the best.

*ఎస్పీబీ గొంతు తోడవడంతో...*
'పేట'లో పాటను ఎస్పీ బాలసుబ్రమణ్యంగారు, అనిరుధ్ రవిచంద్రన్ కలిసి పాడితే... 'దర్బార్'లో పాటను ఎస్పీ బాలుగారు ప్రత్యేకంగా పాడారు. ఆయన పాట పాడటం అంటే... మనం సాహిత్యం ద్వారా పాటను 50 మెట్లు తీసుకువెళితే, ఇంకో 50 మెట్లు బాలుగారి కంఠం తీసుకువెళుతుంది. ఈ పాటకు సాహిత్యం, సంగీతం బాగా కుదిరాయి. బాలుగారి గొంతు తోడవడంతో పాట ఇంత ప్రజాదరణ పొందింది. సాహిత్యం, సంగీతం బావుంటే... అభిమాన తార అయ్యుంటే... అనువాద చిత్రం అని చూడకుండా పాటను విజయవంతం చేస్తారని తెలుగు ప్రేక్షకులు మరోసారి నిరూపించారు.

*ఈ పాటలో ప్రయోగాలూ చేశా!*
ఈ పాటలో మంచి మంచి ప్రయోగాలు చేయడం జరిగింది. 'నలుపు రంగున్న సింహం వచ్చేసిండు' అని! అలాగే, 'ఇనుప రాడ్ అల్లే చేతులు కట్టుకు కూర్చుంటే తుప్పు పట్టి పోతావోయ్. అదే కనుక పని చేస్తుంటే నాలా ఎప్పుడూ యంగ్ గా ఉంటావ్' అని రజనీగారితో సందేశం ఇప్పించాను. మాస్ పాట అయినప్పటికీ... కొన్ని సందేశాత్మక వాక్యాలు, అందరినీ ఉర్రూతలు ఊగించే వాక్యాలు ఈ పాటలో రాశాను. అందువల్ల, 'దుమ్ము ధూళి' పాట ఇంత విజయవంతం అయ్యింది.

*రజనీగారికి వరుసగా పాటలు రాస్తున్నా!*
రజనీకాంత్ గారి విషయానికి వస్తే... ఇంతకు ముందు 'కథానాయకుడు'లో తొలిసారి ఆయనకు పాట రాశా. ఆ పాట పేరే 'సూపర్ స్టార్'. అప్పుడు మంచి ప్రజాదరణ పొందింది. తర్వాత 'విక్రమసింహా', '2.0', 'పేట' చిత్రాలకు పాటలు అందించాను. అన్నిటినీ ప్రేక్షకులు ఎంతగానో ఆదరించారు. ముఖ్యంగా '2.0'లో 'బుల్లిగవ్వ', 'ప్రియమవు ప్రియమవు బ్యాటరివే' పాటలు. రజనీకాంత్ గారికి వరసగా పాటలు రాయడం నాకు చాలా సంతోషాన్నిస్తుంది.

*దర్శకుడితో అప్పుడు చిరంజీవిగారికి... ఇప్పుడు రజనీకాంత్ గారికి!*
ఈ చిత్రం గురించి చెప్పాలంటే... దర్శకులు మురుగదాస్ గారి గురించి చెప్పుకోవాలి. ఆయన చిత్రాలు, కథలు పరిశోధనాత్మకంగా ఉంటూ, ఎంతోకొంత విజ్ఞానాన్ని మనకు అందిస్తూ... వినోదాత్మక భాషలో ఉంటాయి. ఏదో నేను తెలివైనవాడినని చెప్పడానికి ఆయన ప్రయత్నించకుండా... కొత్త విషయాన్ని అందరికీ అర్థమయ్యేలా, ఆకట్టుకునేలా చెప్తారు. ఆయన ఒక అద్భుతమైన పోలీస్ కథతో 'దర్బార్' తెరకెక్కించారు. ఆయన గత చిత్రాలు విజయవంతమైనట్టుగా, ఈ చిత్రం విజయవంతం అవుతుందని ఆశిస్తున్నాను. నేను ఇంతకు ముందు మురుగదాస్ గారితో కలిసి 'స్టాలిన్'కి పని చేశా. చిరంజీవిగారి పరిచయ గీతం 'పరారే పరారే' రాశాను. అది కూడా మంచి విజయవంతమైంది. ఇప్పుడు ఈ 'దర్బార్'లో రజనీగారి పరిచయ గీతం విజయవంతమైంది. ఈ సంప్రదాయం ఇలాగే కొనసాగుతుందేమో చూడాలి. అంతా దైవేచ్ఛ.

*నిర్మాతలు అందరినీ గౌరవిస్తారు!*
