Veteran actress Manorama (78) died on the night of Saturday (10 October) due to multiple organs failure at a hospital in Chennai. Her real name is Gopi Santha. She started her career with stage and then migrated to big screen. She has worked for many Telugu films as well and is very popular among Telugu movie lovers. She has worked with five film personalities who later became chief ministers (NTR, MGR, Jayalalitha, Karunanidhi, Anna Durai). Government of India has honored her with Padma Shri title in 1995. She was also bestowed with Life Time Achievement Award by Filmfare. She has worked for over 1000 stage shows and 1500 films.
