Nara Rohith is making a comeback after more than five years with Prathinidhi 2, the trailer of which was released on Friday by top-drawer director Sukumar. The film is a spiritual sequel to the 2014 successful film Prathinidhi, which also starred Rohith as the protagonist. Pratinidhi 2, meanwhile, is directed by journalist Murthy Devagupthapu.

Playing out over two minutes and 44 seconds, the trailer opens with an upright journalist (played by Rohith) quizzing a politician about amassing hordes of wealth à la Arjun in Oke Okkadu. “Rasthraniki appulu peruguthunte, mee aasthulu ela peruguthunnay (As the state is reeling under debts, how is your wealth increasing)?” He is later seen questioning a common man who is hospitalized following the death of his beloved leader. ‘Has he become more important than your family?” Rohith asks him. The trailer then cuts to present political scenario in the state as the ruling party members believe that it will be difficult to win the polls this time around despite the number of welfare schemes they’ve adopted. There are glimpses of characters played by Indraja and Sachin Khedekar, who is playing a seasoned leader. A character played by Udaya Bhanu believes change will usher in if news is published without distortion. We later see an investigating officer (Jisshu Sengupta) arresting Rohith and questioning how he’s able to break news before everyone. He is curious to know, so do we. But for that to happen we need to wait until April 25 when the film arrives. The trailer ends with Rohith’s powerful monologue to citizens to choose their leaders astutely.

Rounding up, the trailer keeps the audience hooked with dramatic clips without revealing much about the central plot, while promising an intense political drama. It sure seems to be a journalist’s fight to expose political corruption, while striving for a better society. Nara Rohith is honest, while Dinesh Tej, Ajay Ghosh, Ajay, Indraja and Khedekar seem to have got well-rounded supporting parts.

A joint production venture between KumarRaza Bathula, Anjaneyulu Sri Thota and Surendranath Bollineni, Prathinidhi 2 has music by Mahati Swara Sagar.
