National-award winner Priyamani and Raashi Khanna are on board to play key roles in Sharwanand’s next with lyricist-turned-director Krishna Chaitanya, idlebrain has learnt from multiple sources. While Keerthy Suresh was initially attached to the project, a People Media Factory production, her busy date diary meant that Chaitanya had to look for other options. He later zeroed in on Raashi who gave her nod instantly after hearing the script. “For Raashi who is experimenting with her roles of late, this is another challenging portrayal. Like Priyamani’s part, she has a full-length role and needs to speak the Godavari dialect. Both of them have signed on the dotted line. Looks-wise, Raashi will go for a transformation,” sources said.

The still- untitled film is a political drama with a generous dose of humour. “It is set in the backdrop of Godavari belt and narrates the rags to riches journey of a commoner (played by Sharwa). The principal photography will kick off in August, with schedules set to take place in Hyderabad, Rajahmundry and Karaikudi. Sharwa is completely focused on this project alone right now,” sources add.

Right now, Priyamani is looking forward to the June 17 release of Venu Udugula’s Virataparvam, where she played a supporting role, while Raashi has Pakka Commercial and Thank You lined up to unspool back-to-back in the first half of next month.
