The prestigious Celebrity 100 list released by Forbes annually was finally released recently. And surprisingly, the Telugu celebrities haven't quite made the mark with very few of them even featuring on the list.

The list that had cricketer Virat Kohli on the top, saw Prabhas at 44 and Mahesh Babu at 54. The only other name from the Telugu film industry on the list is director Trivikram at 77. While both the actors earned

35 crore each, the filmmaker earned 21.5 crore in 2019.

But South India did shine overall with Rajinikanth on top at 13 with earnings of 100 crore, Mohanlal at 27 with earnings of 64.5 crore, Tamil actor Vijay at 47 with 30 crore, Ajith at 52 with 40.5 crore, director Shankar at 55 with 31.5 crore, Kamal Haasan at 56 with 34 crore, Mammootty at 62 with 33.5 crore, Dhanush at 64 with 31.75 crore, director Siva at 80 with 12.17 crore and director Karthik Subbaraj at 84 with 13.5 crore.

What's interesting is that the Telugu film industry that has been a top performer for a while now saw the numbers not just dwindle but also trail this year. While eight names from Tamil cinema featured on the list, Malayalam and Telugu had two and three features respectively.

A total of 293.42 crore was the contribution of Tamil stars to the total earnings. Malayalam stars registered 98 crore while Telugu personalities summed to 91.5 crore.

It is worth noting that no female celebrity from south Indian cinema featured on the list. Overall number of personalities on the list also decreased from 15 last year to 13 this year.
