I watched trailer of upcoming Telugu movie: Uyyala Jampala - loved the teaser!! It seem to have all right ingredients like Asthma Chemma movie, even the name rhymes the same way. Looks like another clean entertainer from makers of Asthma Chemma movie. Ram Mohan P. partnered with media-mogul D. Suresh Babu and Akkeneni Nagarjuna for this movie. Although lead actors and director are new comers, I am sure this is going to be another blockbuster entertainer.
Telugu movie goers never get tired of enjoying good comedy, clean entertainment with nativity. This genre always clicks with Telugu audience. When the movie has good dose of wholesome fun for the family, the cast and crew does not matter. Astha Chemma is a good example - even recent blockbusters, Attharintiki Daredi and Dukudu are successful mainly because of clean comedy and tasteful presentation. Of course, having super stars like Pawan Kalyan and Mahesh Babu can boost box-office collections and help to set new industry records.
Uyyala Jampala movie teaser seems to have all the right ingredients to be a successful family entertainer, I am sure it is going to be a hit at the box-office. Ram Mohan debuted as producer with Astha Chemma, this was a perfect business school case-study on movie budgeting, analyzing the market potential and the return-on-investment. Unfortunately, too many Telugu movies are produced at high production costs; there is no chance of decent return-on-investment for producers and distributors. They can barely recover investment if the movie is a blockbuster. Considering less than 10% success rate for Indian cinema, the profitability model simply does not allow producers and distributors to sleep well in the night!
Being IIM graduate, Ram Mohan artfully brought engineering and economics to Telugu movie production. Although he had a bit of let-down with his earlier movie, Golconda High School, he wisely decided to go back to proven successful genre of clean-family entertainer. In general, horror and inspiration genre do not work well with Telugu audience. We watch movies purely for the entertainment purpose not for the enlightenment. I wish lot of success for Uyyala Jampala team and look-out for another wholesome family entertainer!
