CATS successfully conducted its 10th Anniversary Celebrations in Washington DC Metro Area - Announced 10 internships and 5 student scholarships

Washington DC, May2 2015: Capitol Area Telugu Society (CATS) – రాజధాని ప్రాంతీయ తెలుగు సంఘం successfully conducted its 10th Anniversary celebration in a grandeur fashion. The two day celebrations were held on May 1st& May 2nd in Virginia & Maryland respectively with both events sold out.

The celebrations started with Life Members only banquet on May 1st at the KENA Conference Center in Fairfax VA. CATS inaugurated the 10th Anniversary Celebrations with distinguished guests in attendance. The chief guest for the night was Sri. N K Mishra, Honorable Minister for Personnel and Community Affairs, Indian Embassy, Washington DC.

The banquet evening kicked off with a social hour allowing the members to network and revitalize old friendships and making new ones. On this special occasion, CATS honored several contributors to Telugu Community and broader Indian Community. These guests included Sri. N K Mishra, Honoroable Minister for Personnel & Community Affairs, Indian Embassy, Washington DC, Sri. Sridhar Chillara, CEO for TV5 USA / Mana TV, Sri. Ramesh Annamreddy, CEO Sneha TV, Sri. Praveen Shyamala, COO DC-Metro Area Radio Zindagi, Dr.Sri.Sanjay Rai, Senior Vice President and Chief Academic officer Montgomery College Maryland.

CATS also presented its traditional and prestigious awards to prominent Telugus for their contributions. These included Dr. Sankineni Janardhan Rao, for Contributions to Healthcare for his service on the Maryland Health Commission on Men’s Health, Sri.Ganti Bhaskar, CEO of International Software Systems Inc for Contributions to Telugu Culture and Community, Dr. Kuntimaddi Sadananda, Principal Teacher, Chinmaya Mission Northern Virginia for contributions to Community Service, and Late Sri. Ram Poonuganti former Director CATS Manabadi program, Treasurer and Vice President of CATS.

In addition all the sponsors and donors for CATS 10th anniversary celebrations were thanked and recognized for their support of CATS. The sponsors released the CATS 10th Anniversary Souvenir and the CATS 10th Anniversary theme song, the song representing what CATS stands for and its activities over the past decade.

The evening was thoroughly enjoyed by all CATS life members, distinguished guests and dignitaries. Nearly 750 people attended the banquet dinner. From the evening proceedings and members contributions nearly $5000 has been raised to support the Nepal Earth quake relief activities.

Next day, the open event started at the Seneca Valley High School, Germantown MD from 11:30 and lasted through the entire day concluding at 11:00 PM in the night. The event opened with lighting the lamp followed by several competitions that were conducted in parallel and the finals being presented on the main auditorium. This year, youth activities took central stage with several competitions for the youth. Competitions were held in Singing, Dancing, Talent, and Math Competition. Hundreds of kids participated in these competitions. Special attraction to the afternoon cultural program was a fashion show by 90 member group choreographed by Sandhya Bayireddy.

Event program continued later in the evening and was graciously occasioned by distinguished guests to address the attendees and wish CATS for its 10th year celebrations. Chief Guest Congressman Chris Van Hollen Maryland 8th District & Montgomery County Maryland Executive Ike Leggett addressed audience. Mr. Leggett presented an official appreciation certificate to CATS from Montgomery county commending CATS support to the local community. Guest for the evening Mrs. Aruna Miller, Maryland Delegate addressed the audience and congratulated CATS for its 10th anniversary. CATS president Mr. Madhu Kola addressed the audience on this occasion to explain about organization, its services, support to the community and announced that CATS will be sponsoring 10 internships and 5 student scholarships from Telugu owning companies from the area starting 2016 and we are well on our way. This is one of a kind initiative by a regional community organization.

Celebrations continued in the evening to witness a dazzling performance and stage show by Tollywood stars Nikhil, Richa Gangopadhyay, Singers Hemachandra ShravanaBhargavi, Nitya and Simha, Dancers Bhavana and Aadarsh. Audience had an enthralling showcase of performances by artists and everyone dived into the fun and entertainment on the main stage with lights and visual effects. Tollywood anchor Anasuya did MC for the whole evening artist’s presentation. Delicious lunch and dinner were served to all during the event with food catering by Paradise Indian Cuisine Baltimore. Nearly 2000 people attended the event thru out the day to participate in the fun and entertainment provided by CATS.

CATS Secretary Mr. Bhaskar Bommareddy gave the vote of thanks to all and appreciated all the CATS team members who made the event happen. Event was concluded with the singing of the National Anthem. కాట్స్ కార్యక్రమాలను గత 10 సంవత్సరాలుగా ఆదరిస్తూ,ప్రోత్సహిస్తూ అండగా నిలిచిన కాట్స్ జీవిత కాల సభ్యులకోసం మే ఒకటిన KENA కాన్ఫరెన్స్ హాల్, వర్జీనియా లో ప్రత్యేక విందు ఏర్పాటు చేశారు. ఈ కార్యక్రమానికి శ్రీ N.K. Mishra (ఇండియన్ ఎంబసీ, వాషింగ్టన్ D.C.) ముఖ్య అతిధి గా విచ్చేశారు.

CATS తమ తమ రంగాలలో విశేష కృషిచేసిన తెలుగు ప్రముఖులను సన్మానించారు:: డాక్టర్ సంకినేని జనార్ధన్ రావు (Healthcare), శ్రీ గంటి భాస్కర్ ( తెలుగు సంస్కృతి ), డాక్టర్ కున్తిమద్ది సదానంద (సామాజిక సేవ ), కీ .శె. శ్రీ రాం పూనుగంటి ,మాజీ మనబడి డైరెక్టర్ , ఉపాధ్యక్షులు , కోశాధికారి (మనబడి).

అంతే కాకుండా కాట్స్ పదవ వార్షికోత్సవ సంబరాలకు గుర్తుగా సౌవెనిర్ మరియు కాట్స్ గత పదేళ్లుగా చేపట్టిన వివిధ కార్యక్రమాల వివరాలతో కూడిన ఒక మంచి పాటను విడుదల చేశారు. ఆర్దిక సహాయం చేసిన ప్రతిఒక్కరికి ఈ సందర్భంగా కృతజ్ఞతలు తెలియచేశారు. 750 మందికి పైగా విచ్చేసిన కాట్స్ లైఫ్ మెంబెర్స్, అతిథులు అందరు కలిసి నేపాల్ భూకంప బాధితుల సహాయార్ధం 5000 డాలర్లు సమాకూర్చారు.

కాట్స్ దశమ వార్షికోత్సవ , రెండవ రోజు సంబరాలు సేనేక వాలీ హై స్కూల్ , Germantown MD లో ఉదయం 11:30 నుంచి రాత్రి 11 వరకు ఎంతో ఉల్లాసభరితమైన వాతావరణంలో జరిగాయి. జ్యోతిప్రజ్వలనతో ప్రారంభించి , యువతకి పాటలు , డాన్సు , గణిత పోటీలను నిర్వహించి విజేతలకు బహుమతులు అందచేశారు. ఈ పోటీలలో వందలమంది ఔత్సాహికులు పాల్గొని విజయవంతం చేశారు. ప్రత్యెక ఆకర్షణ గా 90 మంది బృందంతో సంధ్య బయిరెడ్డి నిర్వహించిన ఫాషన్ షో నిలిచింది

ఈ కార్యక్రమానికి ముఖ్య అతిధి గా Congressman Mr. Chris Van Hollen Maryland 8th District &

Montgomery County Maryland Executive Mr.Ike Leggett, క్యాట్స్ స్థానికంగా చేస్తున్న సేవలను గుర్తించి ప్రశంస పత్రం తో పాటు జ్ఞాపికను అందచేశారు. కాట్స్ అధ్యక్షులు శ్రీ మధు కోలా అతిథులను ఉద్దేశించి క్యాట్స్ చేస్తున్న వివిధ కార్యక్రమాల గురించి వివరించడంతో పాటు 10 మంది విద్యార్థులకు Internships, 5 మంది విద్యార్థులకు Scholarships అందచేయటానికి డి సి ఏరియా తెలుగు వారు అధినేతలుగా ఉన్న పలు సంస్తలు ముందుకు వచ్చాయి. Mrs. Aruna Miller, Maryland Delegate, కాట్స దశమ వార్షికోత్సవం సందర్భంగా శుభాకాంక్షలు తెలిచేశారు. స్థానిక సంస్థలలో ఇటువంటి కార్యక్రమం చేపట్టడం చాలా అరుదు , అందుకే కాట్స్ వారు చేపట్టే మంచి కార్యక్రమాలకు తమవంతు సహాయం ఎల్లప్పుడూ ఉంటుందని భరోసా ఇస్తూ అభినందించారు.

టాలీవుడ్ స్టార్స్ నిఖిల్, రిచా గంగోపాధ్యాయ్ , గాయకులు హేమచంద్ర , శ్రావణ భార్గవి, నిత్య భయ్యా , సింహ , డాన్సర్స్ భావన ,ఆదర్శ్ ప్రేక్షకులను ఉర్రూతలూగించారు . ఈ కార్యక్రమానికి టాలీవుడ్ ఆంకర్ అనసూయ తన వాక్పటిమతో ప్రేక్షకులను మంత్రముగ్దులను చేశారు. 2000 పైగా విచ్చేసిన అతిథులకు ప్యారడిజ్ ఇండియన్ కుసిన్ , బాల్టిమోర్ వారిచే పసందైన విందు భోజనం ఏర్పాటు చేయించారు.
