After a busy week schedule, you tend to relax a bit, try to do something
different that you keep doing the whole week. Some play tennis,
some watch football, some go out for dinner and many go out to watch
a good movie. One day back in Hyderabad, I just went to watch a
movie with one of my friends, it was a tightly packed theatre, the
movie was a bit serious. In one of the scenes in the movie, the
hero threatens the heroine's acquaintance and goes away, the heroine
just sees the whole conversation. In the next scene the words said
by the hero keep echoing in her ears. Suddenly one of the front
benchers in the theatre yelled " Nuvvu hero anna maatalu pakkaku
petti .. mundu dream song paduko amma" and that's it the whole
theatre burst in laughter, and in the next scene the audience saw
a dream song. That really surprised me, how could that guy predict
that scene, he could not have seen that movie before 'coz it was
a first day, first show , the only reason which I could think of
is because of the fact that there are many scenes like that which
the audience see in many films. Let us try to have a look at those
routine scenes today.
Observing a bit, we see that these routine scenes are usually seen
in family scenes, mythological/folklore, romantic and climax
scenes. Let us try to see how Telugu Movie directors use the
same old trusted scenes. In the family scenes we usually come across
scenes where the family splits because of some character in the
family tries to fill the ears of other characters in the family,
when the family splits or when the hero/hero's family moves out
of that home, we usually hear a song in the backdrop. We see some
people wiping their tears in the theatre for those kind of scenes.
In the mythological/folklore movies it is a bit different. The audience
usually come across some scenes where the minister close to the
king deceives him and tries to kill the whole royal family, but
one among the royal family somehow escapes, grows up into
a handsome guy, falls in love with the minister's pretty daughter
and somehow takes revenge on the wicked minister. In some other
folklores, we come across scenes wherein we see some occult practitioner
( manthrikudu ) etc who somehow takes control of the hero/protagonist
and ultimately gets killed.
In the romantic scenes, it is much sweeter. We can give innumerable
examples of movies wherein the hero starts teasing the heroine,
the initial resistance of the heroine turns into unstoppable , irresistible
love for the hero etc etc, all of these are followed by dream
songs. In the same cadre comes the triangular love stories
wherein there are two heroines and one hero ( oops…. I'm not referring
any hero here) , the hero loves one and marries another, in some
incident he meets the first heroine and ultimately one among the
heroines gets killed for some reason.
In the climax scenes, we see the hero beating the villain and his
gang black and blue, and ultimately before he is almost killing
the villain we see the police coming and arresting the villain.
Incidentally, this scene wherein the cops come after everything
is over is not only seen in Telugu movies, but in almost every
language that you could think of. Hindi and English are some examples.
The other scenes usually seen are kidnapping the hero's family etc,
hero's best friend coming in front of the bullet before it hits
the hero are a few of them.
One thing to be noted here is although there are many routine scenes
that we typically watch in a Telugu Movie , the artistes and their
acting make it different. Needless to mention, the Director's
treatment along with the music director's hit songs is what
makes the movie interesting for the audience to watch. |
