Happy Days Arrived in Dallas

A typical big telugu movie opens in Dallas with 500-700 people on a opening night. What happened on this friday (september 28th) in Hollywood Theaters (Touring Talkies) has changed all of that for ever. 1157 people have seen Happy Days on friday. In comparison, New jersey got about 700 and bay area about 500 people for Happy Days for Friday. 1157 is the biggest attendence ever for a telugu movie in any city in USA on a opening night. Dallas created history in US telugu cinema. Sekhar Kammula attended Godavari 50 days celebrations in Dallas, which is again the first ever 50 days celebrations in USA. Dallas responded in a fitting manner for the tribute Sekhar paid to NRIs by releasing Happy Days in USA .

As we write this article at 11:15 PM saturday night ( local Central standard time) a total of 2055 tickets were sold.

Pre-Plan:
1. A promotion plan was put in place with a target of 1000 for the opening night.
2. The Release was scheduled and posted by 18th September.Advance booking opened 1 week early.
3. The no.of shows were increased to 4 for friday night from usual 2.
4. Increased the capacity .1600 capacity for opening night.
5. Promotion in Radio Salaam Namaste FM 104.9 6. Audio premiers, curtain raiser special programs in Ananda Lahari, the most popular telugu show.
7. Pre-sold 300 Tickets to the IT companies

On Friday:
1. Happy Days RV - Went around the town. RV stationed in front of the theaters with 600KW music blasting Happy Days songs from 7pm-11 pm.
2, There was a special happy days program aired at 6 PM Monicca Sharma drive time radio show.
3. 320 Happy Days Audio CDs were given away at the RV / Theater to the audience.
4. During the first 3 shows, crowds were seen calling their friends and telling how good the movie is. Many came for next show based on mouth publicity.
5. Idlebrain Review brought in good number of audience. Happy Days fans printed Idlebrain.com review on the T-Shirts and were seen in theater.
6. HAPPY DAYS GROUP formations, photo flashes, TV interviews created festive mood and made it most happening place in town.

There are so many more., like Sekhar Kammula's good will, Clean family entertainment niche he created among NRIs, New theaters with high- Fi sound system, Stadium seating which gives true telugu movie watching experience. All the above factors have worked because, HAPPY DAYS movie is GOOD. Period!! It took audience on a pleasure ride through their college days. Every one who walked in, walked out with a HAPPY face after the show. Obviosly new records were created !!
