August 1, 2006

Swarnabrahma Mani Sharma with his troupe of musicians and versatile singers floored the Michigan audience with a night of musical brilliance. The event was held at the beautiful Walled Lake Northern High School in Commerce, Michigan on Saturday, July 28th to a power house of 1200 musically inclined people who were part of the biggest ethnic community in the United States . It was a remarkable event that prompted school auditorium manager and their technical staff requested Mani Sharma for a photo that they wanted to display in their Musical Souvenir.

Mani Sharma with his singers made the crowd sway to every beat of his lilting rhythms to his popular beats. For the first time, Michigan Telugu audience witnessed a high quality live music show that moved from melody to classical to fusion/pop and mass beat songs.

Mani Sharma has come a long way since his Chiranjeevi starrer "Choodalani Vundi". After the release of Morning Raga, this top music composer has brought Telugu music to the global platform. Instrumental in providing the Telugu super stars a "joie de vivre" image, Mani Sharma has this incredible knack of giving the audience what they deserve as they ecstatically listened to the hits from Stalin, Indra, Khushi, Athadu, Pokiri, Morning Raga and more. The children could not control their anxiety as they moved closer to the stage to dance to the popular hits. The adults completely enjoyed themselves and yearned for more and more. The telugu listeners are frantically looking forward to the yet to be released musical albums of Mahesh Babu starrer Athidi and the launch of Pudmabhashan Dr.Chiranjeevi's son Ram Charan starrer Chirutha.

There was never a silent pause during the event as the music machine kept churning out hit after hit numbers. The highlight of the event was the singer Mallikarjun who presented the much acclaimed Chiru/Lawrence style "veena dance step" while delivering the hit song from the film Indra and Violin Dance from movie Stalin. Another singer who dragged the crowd towards her was Usha who comfortable switched her vocals and made the audience dance to her tunes. Vijayalakshmi, Vinod Babu and Sunitha provided ample support to the electrifying night. Mimicry artist Hari Kishan made the crowd go nostalgic with his funny interludes.

Mr. Krishna Prasad Katragadda, Founder of Katragadda foundation, the leading force behind the Telugu community in Michigan accepted as a Chief Guest for this enchanting evening and he presented mementos to the hot-shot music composer Mani Sharma and his entire orchestra. Mr. Krishna Prasad Katragadda was instrumental in bringing the former President of the United States Mr. Bill Clinton to the TANA event a few weeks back at Washington DC . Mr. Katragadda has successfully launched many welfare projects within and outside the United States.

The first regional music concert in Michigan turned out to be very successful one as Mani Sharma promised to be back next year and also promised the crowd that he would definitely deliver a private album for his listeners. The energetic crowd did not wish for the show to end. One notable highlight of the evening was that the event was organized by two individuals rather than a corporate organization or business. Venkata Pala and Jagadish Boddapati worked behind the scenes to set a precedent for more live music concerts to follow. They generously donated the net proceeds to the Sri Shirdi Sai Samsthan of Michigan. Michigan is one state that has a huge Indian population and this first live concert only proves that the state certainly deserves more.

The prime sponsors of the event were Priya Restaurant, Farmington Hills – authentic and traditional Indian cuisine, miindia.com – the communication pulse line of the Michigan Indian community, , Metro Kars – Transportation service for NRI's visiting Hyderabad ,Real Technologies and Spiders Software Solutions LLC. Anu Gopalakrishnan, Radio Jockey of Rockin' Raaga – North America's first Indian regional radio show in six languages was the MC for this spectacular momentous musical evening.
