Smt Purandhareswari urges NRIs to promote educational tie ups…

In a meeting held at Hotel Swagat, San Jose, California, Smt Purandhareswari, Minister for HRD, Govt of India has urged the NRI community to promote educational standards in India by arranging tie ups from reputed Universities in USA and abroad for Universities India so the educational standards. Speaking on the same, she said that India is recognized as the emerging super power, fasted growing developed country by world and it has almost 25% of youth population available for utilization.

She also said that the gross enrollment in Higher education is 60% in USA, 40% in Europe, 20% in China and only 10% in India and Govt of India along with State Governments is trying hard to increase this 10% to 15% or 20% by 2012. Under this plan only, India is increasing more Central Universities, more IITs, more Colleges etc and also fighting with the problem of shortage of faculty and facilities. It is in this regard, Mrs Purandhareswari, as Minister for Human Resource Development, Govt of India has asked NRIs who have already made their mark in USA in Education to work for developing tie ups with Universities, Educational Institutes where they work or have good relation for the Universities and Institutes in India and this will help developing the educational standards in India.

Earlier to Mrs Purandheswari, Sri Mandali Buddha Prasad, Minister for Animal Husbandry, Govt of AP has appreciated the NR Telugu community for preserving and promoting the rich telugu culture, language in USA even after it left the mother land long back. He expressed his complete satisfaction on the way the families are bringing up the children in USA and they are becoming the role models to parents in Andhra Pradesh. Dr Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad also spoke appreciating the NRIs.

Mr Jayaram Komati, President Elect, Telugu association of North America (TANA), who arranged the Felicitation function at Hotel Swagat, San Jose on the eve the arrival Smt Purandhareswari has welcomed the dignitaries saying that it is not ant political meeting but a cultural exchange and get together. Dr Ramesh Japra, President, Federation of Indian Associations ( FIA ) of Northern California and his team, and Sri Satish Chilukuri and other TANA leaders, Sri Srini Tiruveedhula, President, BATA ( Bay Area Telugu Association) have felicitated Mrs Purandhaswari and other dignitaries. The Meeting ended after a long question and answer session when Mrs Purandhareswari answered several questions.
