On
April 9th 2005 Telugu Association of Greater Chicago, popularly
known as TAGC celebrated the famous Ugadi Festival at Samarathi
Auditorium of Hindu Temple of Greater Chicago(HTGC).
More
than thousand participants attended the celebrations. The
traditional Ugadi Pachadi was served followed by the fabulous
dinner catered by the famous PRIYA RESTAURANT of Schaumburg.
The cultural program started with the introductory speech
by the president. In his speech Dr. Daram Hanmanth Reddy requested
everyone to become a member and support TAGC in its activities
and finances.
He
also promised to give good programs in future. Keerthi Reddy
a Youth committee member spoke about the importance of Ugadi.
The program started with Invocation and Panchanga Sravanam
by the priest from the temple, Sri Hari, Samudrala followed
by the fantastic Kavi Sammelanam in which local talent along
with special invitees Dr. Afsar (University of Wisconsin)
and Smt Kalpana Rentala from Madison,Wisconsin participated.
Dance
Choreographers, Prasuna Vootkur, Sobha Thammana and Lalita
Kavuri gave their best talent to organize and conduct dances
by young artists. Youth commitee chair Keerthi Reddy &
Sai Nettem produced excellent movie dance with the youth (the
song Mass from the movie Mass). Skits Manava Seve Madhava
Seva directed by Sundaravalli Malladi and Couple's Facts produced
by Dr. Jayanthi Subbarao were great. Kodite Kottali Six Kottali
a hip-hop dance was applauded by the audience. The rhythms
on Drums played by Venu Vinod Damaraju inspired the audience
of all ages. Dr.Susarla's Hindi songs made a difference. The
program ended with vote of thanks from the secretary Navuduri
Sriram. Damaraju & Prasuna Vootkur did a wonderful job
as Masters of ceremony for the program
