Balayya came down on other heroes and accused them as cowards who do not know how to utter a single Telugu dialogue with right accent in Public (click here for those cuttings 1 and 2). Everybody was agog with Balayya's bold statements. They were just waiting for the Narasimha Naidu to bomb at box office so that they can take on him.

But Narasimha Naidu was released with great aplomb on 11th of January 2001. It has got super hit talk right from the show number one. The other films released for Sankranthi bombed miserably, mainly due to the pathetic handling of film and partly due to success of Narasimha Naidu.

Narasimha Naidu has earned the tag of movie-eater and made sure that no other movie was a hit for the next 50 days after the release (till Murari came into the scene). It set all the cash registers ringing and is acclaimed as the industry's number one grosser.

The main asset of the film is Balayya, B Gopal and Chinni Krishna. Mani Sharma's racy tunes helped in getting repeated crowds. Balayya's dances were flawless and are as entertaining as that of popular Govinda dances in Bollywood.

Most of the doomsayers thought Samarasimha Reddy was a flash in the pan. But Narasimha Naidu proved that Balayya has finally rediscovered the mantra of success that suits his strengths. Another important aspect of the film is giving equal importance to the heroine character played with ease by Simran.

Though different figures are floating around in the market, Narasimha Naidu is undoubtedly the best grosser of Telugu cinema so far and is in the 20 crore + club (along with Kushi). Narasimha Naidu has increased the market of Bala Krishna rapidly in the area of Nizam, though trade pundits accuse this film of dragging in Devi 70mm for 175 days. This film did also act as a catalyst to the political aspirations of Bala Krishna if the 100 days function and unveiling function of NTR statue are any indicators. With a couple of hits of this magnitude, Bala Krishna is sure to make Chandra Babu Naidu feel dizzy on his CM seat as the next assembly elections approach.
