the release of FLAVORS, an exciting new film that promises to

Scheduled
to release in North America on July 16, 2004, FLAVORS - produced
by dreams2reality Films and MAUJ Entertainment, and distributed
in North America by Net Effect Media Inc (NEMI) - has already
created a healthy pre-release buzz both among South Asian filmgoers,
independent film audiences and within the industry.
Entrepreneur-turned-producer
Anupam Mittal, founder and CEO of the popular portal shaadi.com,
says, "There is a world market for movies waiting to be
tapped. I believe the way to do that is by making good, sensible,
yet entertaining, movies. Hopefully, FLAVORS will strike the
right chords and find that world market!"
With
FLAVORS, directors and New Age filmmaking enthusiasts Raj Nidimoru
and Krishna DK have adopted a unique, non-linear format, weaving
multiple intertwining storylines to form an entertaining, fun-filled
experience.

FLAVORS
takes a fresh, witty look at contemporary Indo-American life.
It is a delightful, quirky ensemble comedy with colorful storylines
that ingeniously come together, highlighting the humor in everyday
life.
The
film has the honor of being selected at some of the most prestigious
film festivals around the world: Hamptons, Milan, Cairo, Hawaii,
Durban, Bombay, Bangkok and the San Francisco Asian American
Film Festival.
The
film has also been widely acclaimed: Raj Nidimoru and Krishna
DK were nominated for the Best Emerging Director Award for FLAVORS
at the Asian American International Film Festival, New York.
Earlier, they made the award-winning short feature, shaadi.com,
which was invited to the Commonwealth Film Festival, 2002.
For
her performance in FLAVORS, Pooja Kumar, one of the lead actresses,
won the SAG (Screen Actor's Guild) Emerging Actor Award, at
the St Louis International Film Festival. FLAVORS was adjudged
the Best World Premiere Film at the Fort Lauderdale International
Film Festival in Florida. It was also the San Jose Opening Night
Film at the San Francisco Asian American Film Festival.
FLAVORS
has a distinctive soundtrack composed by some very talented
musicians around the world: pioneer of Indipop Leslie Lewis
(of Colonial Cousins); prolific composer Mahesh Shankar; fusion
vocalist Sandhya Sanjana from Amsterdam and Indian classical
vocalist Shobha Raju. FLAVORS soundtrack, scheduled to launch
on July 2, is a cross-lingual, upbeat and truly eclectic musical
experience.
Its
accomplished cast includes well-known Bollywood actors Anjan
Srivastava and Bharati Achrekar; Reef Karim (host of the new
reality series, House of Clues); Pooja Kumar (the new
'face' of the Broadway musical, Bombay Dreams); popular
VJ and indie actress, Rishma Malik and international model Jicky
Schnee.
The
crew includes Frank Reynolds, editor of the Oscar-nominated
In The Bedroom and M Night Shyamalan's Praying With
Anger; Tom Hammond (sound design), who has worked on projects
like Before Sunrise, Waking Life, etc.
