Morning Raga
People from a small village in South India are on a bus journey
to the city filled with varied aspirations oblivious to the
tragedy that is about to befall upon them. An accident on
the way leaves many villagers coping with the loss of their
loved ones.
Morning
Raga is the story of three such lives inextricably linked
by this tragedy an how they come to terms with their loss
of by a strong uniting forc - Music.
Swanalatha
was a talented singer with a burning ambition to perform in
the city. She lost her child and friend in the accident that
fateful morning. She believes that she is cursed and holds
herself responsible for the tragedy. She now spends her time
in a self composed exile never daring to leave the village.
Abhinay
survived the accident but lost his mother, who was an amateur
musician in his village. His strained relationship with his
father drew him to the city where he is now a successful advertising
jingle composer. Not satisfied with manufacturing music to
sell bubble-gums, he decides to compose music that will withstand
the test of time. One day, Swarnalatha returns his violin
to him
Pinkie,
a young urban girl finds her self drawn to the same village
as she is also affected by the tragedy and discovers an unfortunate
truth about the accident. It is now imperative that she redeems
herself of the wrongs from the past by helping Abhinay succeed
in his musical endeavors.
Will
Abhinay succeed in getting Swarnalatha to sing with his group
in the city? Can Swarnalatha and Pink come to terms with their
past and held Abhinay fulfill his dream?
Morning
Raga is about meeting of worlds, It is a story that brings
the modern and traditional together, unites the past with
the present, Carnatic music with western music, after and
coincidence with individual choices. It is a story of our
times.

Morning
Raga now in Telugu
Morning Raga film is now being dubbed and released in Telugu
and Tamil languages. Sai Babu Jagarlamudi (one of the
producers of Sambhavami Yuge Yuge) is dubbing this film. He
is planning to released the audio in month of end of January
and the film in 1st week of February.
Director
Mahesh Dattani said that he takes more pride in the
fact that this film is being dubbed in Telugu and Tamil compared
to the achievement of being considered as unofficial entry
to Oscar nominations. Morning Raga is vying for nominations
in various categories (best film, best music, best actor,
best editing, best cinematography and best screenplay) under
Mainstream section of Academy Awards.
Hero
Prakash Rao Kovelamudi said that there would be more
potential for this film in Telugu as it is made with Rajahmundry
background and has the sensibilities that will be liked by
Telugu film lovers.
