Rajni trips at Kathanayakudu premiere
Superstar Rajnikanth today lost his balance and was about to fall, but steadied himself in a moment. This happened at Adlabs theatre, Hyderabad tonight when he was returning after cheering the crowds at the premiere of his Kathanayakudu. After alighting from the lift to the ground floor, he found a huge gathering of pubic and media photographers waiting to have a glimpse of him. Insufficient barricade and comparatively thin number of the security personnel led to a jostle. The sudden gush of men fell on the actor and the few escort personnel. With this, Rajni lost his balance and almost tilted towards the ground, but got back to his feet. The police swung into action and controlled the situation.

Ms. Anonymous worries Kota
Screen-versatile Kota Srinivasa Rao was a worried lot at a function held tonight at FNCC, Hyderabad. As and when he got into the venue, his mobile started ringing repeatedly. While addressing the media (Press Meet of Charmme starrer 16 Days), the caller (lady) called him twice, asking the actor who he was. Perturbed, Kota sought excuse from the media for a while and shot back. "Evaramma thalli nuvvu? Naaku phone chesi nanne evaru ani aduguthunnavu? Neeku Dhandam thalli. Phone petteyi." When the lady asked one more time, Kota said again: "I am Circle Inspector, Punjagutta." Saying so, he switched off the mobile.

Rajni watches Kathanayakudu
The preview of Kathanayakudu, Rajnikanth's bilingual movie, was held at Prasad labs theatre, Hyderabad this evening. The preview started at 4.00 p.m. Rajnikanth, producer (Telugu version) Ashwini Dutt, Jagapati Babu, K Raghavendra Rao and Rama Naidu are among those attended the show. The film is releasing tomorrow all over the world with 1200 prints.

RGV to launch Homam Music
Ramgopal Varma will be launching the audio of Homam, a Jagapati Babu starrer, on August 3rd in Hyderabad. This film is directed by the actor JD Chakravarthy and production is by Kiran Kumar Koneru. Nitin Raikwar scores music. Theatrical release is planned in the last week of August. The logo and posters were launched in April during the final match of Indian Cricket League. JD Chakravarty also plays another vital role. Mamata Mohandas plays the female lead.

Gunde Jhallumandi music on Aug 3
Music of Gunde Jhallumandi is going to be released on August 3rd. The film stars Uday Kiran and Adhti Sharma (debutant). Madan, who came into limelight as storywriter of Aa Nalugu is the director. Music is by MM Keeravani. At a media meet a couple of months ago, Keeravani said that though he had scored music for more than 200 films, he would carry just 25 of the albums with him to listen to them frequently, and claimed that his score for Gunde Jhallumandi was one among them. For the first time, Keeravani scores for an Uday Kiran film.

Baladoor movie on Aug 14
Baladhoor, starring Ravi Teja and Anushka, on Suresh Productions banner with Uday Shankar directing it will be releasing worldwide on August 14th. Tri Color Movies is releasing the film overseas with 14 prints. The audio with music scored by KM Radhakrishna was released yesterday and is declared an instant chartbuster. After Vikramarkudu, the lead pair has come to repeat their performance in Baladhoor.

TRS stir against Padmalaya
Activists of Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) led by its leaders Harish Rao and Ramalinga Reddy stormed the premises of Padmalaya Studios, owned by Telugu superstar Krishna's family. They alleged that YSR government gave back the land to the studio management as the Congress government is keen on using the family for the party campaigning. They demanded that the government should immediately take back the land which the studios had sold out to a private party. When the leaders said they would take over the land and distribute it to the poor, there prevailed tension and the police took them into custody.

Posani's Mental Krishna
Mental Krishna, the latest film produced and directed by Posani Krishna Murali, is under brisk shooting schedule in and around Hyderabad. The director himself plays the lead role in the film, with Satya doing the heroine. "This is a full-length family entertainer, with emphasis on the problems faced by the women. The film projects the solutions as to how the women could troubleshoot the issues." Earlier, Posani's film Operation Duryodana was mired in controversies, but could garner good revenue. Nagababu also plays a vital role in the film.

Narayanamurthy's Koothurikosam
Red star R. Narayanamurthy's latest film is Koothurikosam. Its shoot is currently going on at Rajahmundry and surrounding locations on the banks of Godavari. From his debut film Ardharatri Swatantram to the recent Erra Samudram, he tried to project revolutionary themes. The film is about a father and daughter and their in the contemporary social perspective. Further details are awaited.

Party on Aug 22: Chiru to Aides
The month-long ambiguity over the political entry of Chiranjeevi today received some clarity. He spoke to some journalists that his political party would be launched in the third week of August. The clear signals as per media reports: Chiranjeevi himself is said to have told his close aides that the party would be going public, between August 15 and 28, mostly projected on Aug 22, being the birthday of Chiru. After announcement of the party, a massive public meeting is planned at Dwaraka Tirumala, in West Godavari district, apart from whirlwind tours and road shows covering the state. However, Chiru circles took extra precautions not to jet out info with regard to the Party's name, flag, agenda and alliances. A big list 20 names are under scrutiny as of the party name. They also quoted Chiranjeevi as saying that he is confident of winning over 225 seats in the ensuing elections and he himself is ready to contest in anywhere in the 294 constituencies in the state. Youth segment is being given the lion's share in the party activities and in the selection of candidates and at the same time the elite and politically-experienced people would get their due prominence in the party, the circles added. Reports also said that Chiru wanted the journalists not to report his words, but the same got flashed continuously since late in the evening.

Gopichand's flick is Sowryam
Gopichand-Anushka starrer on Bhavya Creations is titled Sowryam. It is produced by V. Anand Prasad in the direction Siva, a debutant. Producer said that the film is about the exploits of a daredevil youth who finally achieves a powerful goal. But for three songs, the film's shoot if finished. Songs will be canned in Swiss from Aug 10th and the film is planned to release in the second week of September. Gopichand is hopeful that the film would surpass the expectations of his previous films. Music is by Mani Sharma. Camera is handled by Vetrivel and dialogues are by M. Ratnam.

Puri-Adityaram film in Nov
Puri Jagannath's film in the production house of Aditya Ram Movies, starring his brother Sairamshankar, will be going to the floors in November. A communiqué said, quoting Puri Jagannath that "the film is a salmagundi of action, love, comedy and sentiment." "It comes under the category of filmnoir," Puri said. For this film, Sairam Shankar has developed six pack abs. Further details of the cast and crew would be made available soon.

Ashta Chemma on September 1
The film Ashta Chemma is going to be released on September 1st, according to its producer. Starring anchor-turned actress Swathi, the film has music by Kalyani Mallik. The audio was recently released through Big Music. Indraganti Mohana Krishna directs the film.

Yasho Sagar with Sekhar Kammula?
Sekhar Kammula is going to direct Yasho Sagar's next film, sources said. BC Somu, the hero's father will produce the flick on their home production Amrut Arts banner. Earlier, at a press meeting, the producer himself said he was interested to make a film with Sekhar Kammula. Further details are awaited. Currently, Yasho Sagar's debut film Ullasanga Utsahanga in the direction of Karunakaran is into its sixth day run today.

18 Kathanayakudu prints overseas
Kathanayakudu has been censored with U certificate, 2 hours and 35 minutes is the running time. Rajinikanth appears for 60 minutes, Jagapathy Babu plays the main hero role with Bramanandham and Sunil donning comedy roles. 18 Telugu Prints are being shipped from Hydrebad to US on Tuesday, the movie will release on Friday August across major cities. Expectations are high as the malayalam version was the highest grossing movie last year, in addition to Rajinikath co-starting with Jagapathy babu. Last 20 minuets, climax of the movie talks about friendship and is very emotional between Rajinikanth and Jagapathy babu, which will be highlight and stay in audience heart and mind for a while.

Short circuit in RFC
An electrician named Saidulu is said to have lost his life following a short circuit leading to a fire mishap at shooting spot at Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad, today. Similarly, four others received injuries and they were treated at a private hospital nearby, after giving first aid at the dispensary at RFC. Reports further maintained that the film city management has not made any complaint with the police. To note here, a few weeks ago a person lost his life during a mishap involving the blast of a hydrogen balloon during the shoot of a film sequence.

Nayantara starts Kuselan publicity
Hot heroine Nayantara flagged off a mobile publicity van of Kuselan in Chennai. A big van with posters of Rajni in stylish attires fixed to it both sides will reach all the arterial junction in the metropolis, before taking to the overall state tour. The launch comes in the wake of the film's release on August 1. Inside the van, rare pics of Rajnikanth from the yesteryears film Apurvaragangal to the present day Kuselan has been displayed for public viewing. Director P. Vasu was also present at the function.

Jagapati Babu's flicks in progress
Jagapati Babu's film in the direction of Jonnalagadda Srinivas tentatively titled Bangaru Babu is under brisk progress with its last leg of shoot. Ever since its launch, the unit remained aloof from media publicity. Meera Jasmine is the heroine. Similarly, the actor's horror film Raksha on RGV production house with Akella Vamsikrishna directing it is set to finish its shoot soon. Kalyani does the heroine in this flick, with its subject on black magic. Raksha is set for release by August end.

Sunil's Banthi from Jan 2009
The buzz over SS Rajamouli's proposed film with comedian Sunil with its title in unofficial circulation – Banthi, was gone a couple of months ago. But, it has surfaced again that the flick would be launched in January 2009. It is said that star writer turned mass director Trivikram Srinivas has readied the script for this film. Though the name of Surender Reddy also surfaced in the past that he would direct the film, it didn't happen as Reddy was said to have opted out fearing being branded as comedy director. The title Banthi is based on the name of Sunil's character in Nuvvu Naku Nachchav.

Dasarath's film with Prabhas?
Dasarath is going to be the captain of the ship for a film with hero Prabhas with Dil Raju producing it on his Sree Venkateswara Creations banner, sources said. Dasarath known for his soft and family-oriented subjects is said to have prepared the outline of his project with lighter vein elements, unlike Prabhas' out and out action flicks with serious tones. Though Prabhas did such soft roles in films like Krishnavamsi's Chakram, it didn't click commercially, but brought critical acclaim for him. Further details are awaited.

Sarath Kumar’s daughter as heroine
After Kamal's daughter Shruti Hassan to make it to the tinsel world with Bollywood flick costarring Aamir Khan's nephew Imran Khan, now it's the turn of Varalakshmi, Sarath Kumar's daughter to follow suit. The girl, whom Sarath got through his first wife, is making her debut as heroine opposite Silambarasan in the film titled Poda Podi. Shanaya Films will make this film, with an extensive shoot planned in Toronto. Varalakshmi pursued her studies in microbiology in India, and later did course in business management at Edinburgh University.

Manjari in Maska?
Manjari Fadnis, one of the two heroines of and Allari Naresh's yet-to-be released film, is going to be one of the two heroines in MS Raju's film Maska, starring Ram as hero, it is learnt. The other heroine is already fixed as Hansika Motwani. B. Gopal directs the film. Manjari, who came into limelight with Jane Tu Ya Jane Na, recently, now made her debut with Siddhu from Sikakulam. Earlier, she debuted into Bollywood with the film Rok Sako To Rok Lo (2004).

Allari Naresh tilt towards direction
Busy comedy hero Allari Naresh said that though he is breathlessly enaged to film after film as hero, his ultimate passion is for direction, which he would take up at a later stage in his career. Talking to reporters at Vizag, he said that he didn't want to retain himself to just comedy roles, but was desirous of proving himself in all angles of histrionics as he did in a Visakha Express or Gamyam. Replying to a question, he said his marriage was likely in 2010, after that of his brother Aryan Rajesh's. "My father, who is so careful in selection of heroines for me in films will definitely get a good heroine for me in real life," he maintained. He further said he would make it a point hereafter that all of his forthcoming films should have a schedule in Vizag, "which I like most and attached to sentimentally." His latest Siddhu from Sikakulam is ready for release on August 14.

Suhasini Maniratnam, who ticked the memory line of the Telugu audiences with her presence in Bommarillu - a TV game show in the recent weeks, is going to head the women wing of Megastar Chiranjeevi's ready-for-launch party in August, sources said. At a time, when Congress party's women wing is additionally powered with Jeevita Rajasekhar, considered a good speaker, its rival TDP has Roja, with a peculiar tinge of audacity in her voice. It was a rare occasion when Smita met Suneeta Rao, yet another Pop sensation who has her roots from A.P. on NDTV’s “Good Morning India” show this morning. Smita was live from Hyderabad at NDTV studio and Suneeta Rao was live from the Bombay studio. The host of the show interviewed Smita and later connected Smita to Suneeta Rao for a chat. Suneeta Rao wished Smita in Telugu saying “Nuvvu Chala bagunnavamma” and wished her all the very best. Smita later said to Suneeta Rao that she really loved her song “Pari Hoon Main” to which Suneeta Rao said to Smita that she looked like a Pari (angel) herself. Producer KS Rama Rao (of Creative Commercials) is today elected the new President of the Andhra Pradesh Film Chamber of Commerce, which elections for the new body was held today. B. Ramachandra Reddy is elected the Vice-President. C. Kalyan is elected the Chairman of Producers' wing, while it is Chakrapani for Exhibitors sector. MC Bose is the Chairman for the Distribution sector and P. Kiran Kumar is for the Studio wing. Memoir of Gollapudi released
Sacramento resident and famous cardiologist Dr. Gopal Nemana released the autobiography of Gollapudi Maruti Rao aptly named "Amma Kadupu Challaga". A popular production house is said to be making ground for its big-budget film in the combination of hero Ramcharan Tej and director Seenu Vytla. The buzz assumed immense significance in the wake of RCT's mind-blowing business record with his very debut film Chirutha, coupled with Seenu Vytla's hatrick run. Gemini Film Circuit with NBK
Gemini Film Circuit, which made Chiranjeevi's Shankar Dada MBBS, is said to have readied a suitable subject for a film with Nandamuri Balakrishna. Pawan's Puli on Dec 19
Pawan Kalyan's underproduction film Puli under SJ Suryah direction is planned to release on December 19th, sources said. With Jalsa becoming an industry hit, expectations rose high on Puli, being the actor's second film with Suryah after a gap of seven years. Varudu launch on Aug 20
Varudu, the crazy film in the combination of Mahesh and Trivikram Srinivas is going to be launched on August 20th. Ramesh Varma's Galipatam
Ramesh Varma, who earlier directed Tarun's film Oka Oorilo, is coming up with his next project titled Galipatam, starring new comers. It will have music by Mickey J. Mayer. It is said to be love story. There is a blockbuster Galipata in Kannada, but this film has nothing to do with that film, Ramesh Varma said. Finalization of the cast and crew would be finished in the coming days. Kaushik – a Telugu film financier – will produce this film.

Neninthe shoot in progress
Shooting of Neninthe, starring Ravi Teja and Siya, is under brisk shoot at Sarathy Studios, Hyderabad. A special set has been erected there for a 15-day schedule. The part includes talkie and some family-oriented scenes on the character artistes and the lead pair. Direction is by Puri Jagannath.

Making of Thyagayya announced
Title of the proposed movie on Saint poet Thyagayya on Lalithsri Combines banner was today announced at a function held at Thyagaraya Ganasabha, Hyderabad. RV Ramanamurthy produces the film in the direction of Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, who made mookie film in the recent decades Pushpaka Vimayam with Kamal, and more recently switching to animation films. JK Bharavi is the writer for this venture. JS Eeshwar Prasad, a debut artiste performs the famed character of Thyagayya. Highlight is that it has music by Maestro Ilayaraja.

Madhavi's Old Age home
Former heroine Madhavi will be arriving at Adoni from the USA for the foundation stone laying ceremony of an old age home at Adoni in Kurnool district, according to her parents. Very few people know that Madhavi, who once ruled Tollywood, was born at this town. The actress, who said goodbye to films after Matrudevobhava, left for the US, marrying a businessman in 1995. Now, she came forward to build an old age home in the name of their family's spiritual guru Sri Swamirama. Madhavi's real name was Vijayalakshmi. It was Dasari Narayana Rao who changed the name as Madhavi. So far she acted in more than 300 films.

Krishh scouts for locations
Jagarlamudi Radhakrishna (Krishh) is currently engaged to the scouting of locations for his next film with hero Venkatesh. His destination is those enchanting locations in Godavari districts along the banks of Godavari. DS Kannan, who provided the concept for the popular song – Jinthaka Chita Chita (Vikramarkudu) is accompanying Krissh. "These mesmerizing locales are enough for making a beautiful movie. I wish to make these locations must in all my films hereafter," the director said. Currently, he is doing the role of naxalite leader in Tamil film at the same location as in Gamyam (at Rampachodavaram). In view of the hectic activity by the film personalities, the local lodges are said to have doubled the tariffs. A big time awaits these agency areas!

Rajnikanth's bilingual film Kathanayakudu (Kuselan in Tamil) is set for a grand release on August 1st worldwide with a swirling 1200 prints. Made on Vyjyanti Movies banner, its producer Ashwini Dutt expressed high hopes on the film. The art work of Padmasri Thotatharani is a major highlight, he said. The film directed by P.Vasu has Nayantara, Jagapati Babu, Meena and Mamta Mohandas doing the vital roles. It has music by GV Prakash (Rehman's nephew).

5 movies releasing tomorrow
Four straight Telugu films – Utsahanga Ullasanga (directed by Karunakaran with debut artistes), Maa Ayana Chanti Pilladu (directed Raja Vannem Reddy with Sivaji and Meera Jasmine), Krishi and Itlu Nee Vennela (debutants); and a dubbed film into Telugu – Aarya MBBS (starring Madhavan and Bhavana) are releasing tomorrow.

Baladoor music on July 31st
Audio of Ravi Teja-Anushka starrer Baladoor will be released on July 31st trough Aditya Music, according to producer D. Suresh Babu. The film is made on Suresh Productions banner with Uday Shankar directing it. Music is by KM Radhakrishna. Superstar Krishna is playing the role of hero's pedananna (uncle).

Tollywood to miss Mumaith
Tollywood is going to miss Mumaith Khan once and for all. Currently, she is engaged to three films, including the ready-for release film Target. She has not signed any new film so far, despite wielding a mind-blowing demand, even as many a producer and director queuing up to her. The main reason, she said that she didn't really feel comfortable with the growing rumors against her. She further maintained that she would be at home back in Bollywood, which she termed as an egalitarian zone with professional understanding. "After delivering my commitments, I am flying to Mumbai," Mumaith said.

Varudu – romance & adventure?
Varudu, the proposed film of Mahesh Babu in the direction of Trivikram Srinivas, is going to be launched anytime after August 9th (the star's Birthday). After Athidi, the actor was not seen in action, making it for sure that he would not deliver any film this year. Mahesh is said to have perceived the pulse of the audiences, particularly his fans, that whatever film that he would do there is imminent possibility of its comparison with his industry hit – Pokiri. Keeping this apparent risk in mind, the script was treated with the elements of fabulous adventure and captivating romance. Two schedules are being sketched out at the scenic locations in Kerala and Rajasthan, reports said. Singamamala Ramesh produces the flick, set for summer release 2009. Latest buzz says Mahesh has worked out 6-packs for the film. However, the actor long back said he was not interested in muscle mania.

Rajnikanth to visit Japan
For the first time, superstar Rajnikanth is flying to Japan for the ensuing Tokyo International Film Festival in October. Rajnikanth confirmed his participation in the festival, though he had expressed his inability earlier due to tight schedules. Rajni traveled all over the world, but is yet to set his foot on the Land of Rising Sun. Perhaps he is one and the only Indian star to have such a hysterical overseas fan following all over South East Asia, Fast East and China. More than a thousand fan clubs exist in his name. Almost all the DVD shops display the stuff of Rajni's films duly subtitled in Japanese and Chinese. The Japanese term Rajni as something like Emperor of Dance. Kuselan will be screened at the film festival in Tokyo.

Kamal about Marmayogi
Kamal Hassan's ambitious celluloid dream Marmayogi with a whopping budget of Rs. 100 Crore or above is likely to be launched with a traditional and high-profile opening in Mumbai in August. Kamal told the media in Chennai that the film's subject is set in the milieu of 7th century AD, based on historical evidences. "Rehman is already on the job of composing tunes to suit the ambiance of the time and theme of the film. I wish the film would ever remain a milestone in the history of the Indian cinema," he said. Referring to the divide talk over Dasavataram, he frankly admitted that he did make some strategic slip-ups, leading to inaccuracy in treatment, "which are but unavoidable." He felt that this experience would help him avoid such gaps in his forthcoming ventures. He thanked the audience who pointed out the drawbacks in Dasavataram.

Vijayawada haven for film piracy
Of late, Vijayawada has turned into a haven for business thriving on film piracy. Latest, the police seized about 2500 CDs, including that of the latest releases – Dasavataram and Ready – while raiding six shops. Small scale seizures of CDs also took place at various locations in and around the city in the last couple of days. The police found that the clandestine material reached Vijayawada from Chennai en route Guntur. Reel naxals flutter near Godavari
It was a strange experience for locals of Rampachodavaram and nearby villages in East Godavari district to see a group of reel naxals crisscrossing their streets. They are shooting for Tamil film (remake of Gamyam) starring Ravikishna and Sharwanand. Produced by AM Ratnam and directed by Ilan Kannan, the film unit will continue its shoot till July 26th. Sources said that the unit tried for shooting a scene on a boat in the nearby Godavari river. But, the local panchayat officials denied them permission in view of a boat mishap in which the dupe of Ravi Teja was killed recently.

Robot's photo sessions held
With Rajni's Kathanayakudu sitting on the fringe of release projected as on August 1st, matters related to his next – Robot – are under brisk progress away from media blare. Two eye-catching photo shoots were held at AVM Studios, Chennai last week; and another at Mumbai. These are for both promotional element and on-screen merger. Makeup artiste Bhanu and Costume designer Manish Malhotra (same team which worked for Sivaji) are now leaving no stone unturned to give a terrific look for the Superstar. The first publicity posters are likely in a few weeks.

Chintakayala Ravi at Simhachalam
Shoot of the latest film of Venkatesh – Chintakayala Ravi – will be held on Saturday and Sunday at the premises of Lord Narasimha Swamy temple, Simhachalam, near Vizag. Yogi, film director, along with the crew took stock of the locations around the hill temple. They also worshipped at the temple and spoke to the temple authorities. Yogi expressed confidence that the film would become a blockbuster. The film is likely to release in September.

Suresh Krishna to direct Dasari
Senior director Suresh Krishna, known for his everlasting hits like Rajni's Basha, is likely to direct the proposed film Meistry, starred and produced by Dasari on Siri Media. It is already known officially that this Rs. 12 Cr budget film is a political satire, planned to release in January as Sankranti gift, more so to rake up political mileage. Though a young disciple of Dasari was expected earlier, Suresh Krishna is said to have been zeroed in on as some of the scenes and emotions required handling by a matured director. A big league of Tollywood biggies are expected to play vital roles in the film.

Jayath to direct Prabhas film
The name of Jayanth Paranji has figured in as the director for Prabhas-Krishnam Raju's film Raju. The film will be made on Krishnam Raju's home production Gopi Krishna Movies, which in the yesteryears made evergreen hits like Krishnaveni and Baktha Kannappa. Jayanth's last film in Telugu was Allari Pidugu. Jayanth, who launched his film Love 4 Ever in November 2007, was not seen in Tollywood circles thereafter. Moreover, very little or nothing is know about the film.

Sangeeta's brother in Lechi Podhama
Actress Sangeetha, who proved her mettle with films like Khadgam and Pellam Oorelithe, introduced her brother Parimal as hero with bilingual film in Telugu and Tamil. Title in Telugu is Lechi Podhama. The film produced by V. Bharani is being directed by Kanmani (of Naa Oopiri fame). Sandhya (heroine of Premiste) is the female lead, thus making her straight debut in Telugu. Kanmani said: "Generally, parents feel sad and get confused when their son or daughter elopes with somebody. But, in this film, they feel happy. What is the reason? This is the crux." The film's shoot commenced in Chennai last week. It will also have shoot in Hyderabad and Ooty.

Mallepuvvu music on 28 July
Maestro Ilayaraja has not scored music for any straight Telugu film after Vamsi’s Anumanaspadam. Now he composed music for Bhumika Chawla’s latest film Mallepuvvu in the direction of V Samudra. Murali Krishna plays male lead. Publicity designer and director Ramesh Varma did the story for this film. Veturi penned lyrics. The music will be launched on 28 of this month. Mohan Vadlapatla produces this film.

Venu Sriram for Dil Raju's next
Venu Sriram, currently working as assistant director with Sri Venkateswara Creations (assisting Director Srikanth Addala for the film Kotha Bangaru Lokam) is going to be the debut director for the next film of Dil Raju, who himself confirmed it at a press meet today. He said that Venu Sriram was actively involved in the making of the KBL right from the beginning, working day and night. "I am thrilled with his sincerity, work style and dedication. That's why I have decided to make him director for my next film."

Jayaprada to contest from AP?
Actress turned politician, Jayaprada (currently LS MP from UP) is likely to contest from Andhra Pradesh as Samajwadi Party candidate, if her meeting with Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy in Delhi today is to be taken seriously. Reports say she met YSR and spent considerable time dwelling into the present political scenario. Speculation prevailed that she might contest from Andhra Pradesh in the wake of the newly-forged alliance between the SP and Congress at the centre. Traffic cops catch screen cop
Actor Sivabalaji, who is playing the role of a CBI officer in the film Target, was caught by the Hyderabad traffic police, today. He was on his way to Indira Nagar area in the city to take part in a press meet. But, the traffic cops stopped him at a junction nearby for his mobile talk while driving. The actor said he had to argue with the police that he had not used his mobile. But, he didn't say whether he paid the fine or not. This might be the reason for his coming late, after the press meet was over. But, he was seen profusely sweating.

Target first copy on 25th
Target, the murder mystery starring Mumaith Khan and Siva Balaji in the lead, is going to release in the first half of August, said its producer. Made on Siri Sai Surya Movies banner, the film is freely based on popular Sharon Stone-Michael Douglas film Basic Instinct (1992). Mumaith Khan's pictures were also released recently and they resembled that of Sharon – clad in white and erotically dressed. It's first copy is expected on July 25th. Director Ramesh Raja said that the scenes shot on the lead pair in the backdrop of Coorg, considered the Scotland of India, are expected to be the highlights of the film. Currently, the film is under DI and DTS mixing.

Siddhu from Sikakulam music double launch
Music of Sidhu From Sikakulam, starring Allari Naresh, Shradda Das and Manjari, is going to have its music release twice – July 25th in Hyderabad and July 26th in Vizag. The film's unit was back in Hyderabad after canning the song sequences on the lead artistes in various seafront locations in Thailand, recently. KM Radhakrishna is the music director. Direction is by debutant Eeshwar.

Usha plays Judge for Zee "Sa Re Ga Ma Pa"
Telugu film playback Singer Usha will play a Judge for the forthcoming season of Zee Telugu's "Sa Re Ga Ma Pa". The telecast will begin from July 23rd. It must be nostalgic for Usha, who rose to fame by winning singing competitions Paadutha Teeyaga (ETV) and Navaragam (Gemini). Usha left to the US after her marriage in 2005. She made her re-entry in 2007 by singing in movies - Pandurangadu, Athidi, Chiruta, Pourudu, Bhayya, Ontari and yet to be released Gunde Jhallumandi. Singeetham-Ilayaraja's Thyagayya
Thyagayya is the film to come up soon in the terrific combination of Singeetham Srinivasa Rao and Maestro Ilayaraja with RV Ramana Murthy producing it on Lalitha Sri Combines banner. Murthy said that the film would be made both in Telugu and Tamil. The saint poet Thayaraja brought world fame to the Indian classical music with the touch of the Carnatic. "We are going to unfold on the screen – the musical renaissance in Tanjore in the 18th and 19th centuries. Historical episodes with direct bearing on the music and devotional lyrics which were in circulation those times; and Ilayaraja's composition of tunes are going to be the major highlights," he said. JK Bharavi will pen the dialogues. Ashok Kumar is the cinematographer. Songs recording and film launch will be in September. The movie is planned to release on January 6th, 2009.

Police Police, the straight Telugu film of Malayalam star Pridhviraj and popular Tamil hero Sri Ram, has finished to its third schedule in Hyderabad. Pinnacle Pictures Pvt. Limited banner is making this film with Manmohan as the director. He said that though the South Indian cinema had witnessed many a police story since decades, "this particular film of ours will project extraordinary shades in the police subject, coupled with superb performance of the two heroes. Liver Transplantation for AVS
Senior comedian AVS on Friday underwent liver transplantation at Global Hospitals, Hyderabad. It is known that the actor has been ailing with liver-related problems for the last few days. Chronic diabetes led to the damage of the liver and this necessitated the organ transplantation thanks to the donation from AVS's daughter. Earlier, the actor's wife and son were diagnosed for this purpose, but theirs didn't suit with his parameters metabolically. CC Reddy paid rich complement to YSR saying that he had acted on par with any senior most artistes in the industry. Amma Rajasekhar as villain
Amma Rajasekhar, the choreographer turned director, is set to don the role of the main villain in a film titled Poru, reports said. He not only plays the villain, but himself directs the film, starring Srihari as the hero. Priyamani is said to be under consideration for the heroine role. Ileana in Rajni's Sultan
Hourglass heroine Ileana is finalized as the heroine in Rajnikanth's 2D animation film Sultan the Warrior. The film is produced and directed by Rajni's daughter Soundarya with joint participation of Warner Bros. The project cost is projected as Rs. 200 crores. With this Ileana happens to be the first Indian heroine to come up with a full-fledged 2D animated character. In August, Rajni and Ileana will take part in a shooting schedule in Hyderabad. The output would be later converted into 2D format. The two would also be flying abroad for similar shots.

Film stars celebrate Guru Purnima
Film actor Mohan Babu accompanied by his actor-son Manoj Kumar today performed pujas at the temple of Bhagwan Shirdi Sai at Filmnagar, Hyderabad. Though the NTR-VV Vinayak combine film was launched some time back, nothing much is known about it later. Latest, the buzz is that NTR is doing the role of a police officer in that film. With this, all generations of Nandamuri clan will be completing playing the cop's role. While late NTR ripped the screen in the film Kondaveeti Simham, it was Balakrishna who did a memorable performance in Rowdy Inspector. Harikrishna appeared as cop in YVS Chowdary's Seethaiah. Roja to take on Jeevitha?
Actress Jeevita's entry into the Congress Party along with her hubby Rajasekhar became the bone of contention for former heroine and TDP's mahila leader Roja. Earlier, Roja said she was prepared to contest against Chiranjeevi if the party high command would desire so. Maharadhi unit's sorry to Bhajrangdal
Bhajrangdal and voluntary organization Raksha have today notched a compromise deal over the controversy surrounding a song in Nandamuri Balakrishna's film Maharadhi, directed by P. Vasu. To note here, a duet in the film consisted of some renderings from the Suprabatham of Lord Venkateswara. Bhajrangdal approached the court, contending that the song amounted to disparage the spiritual interests of the Hindu community. Based on the complaint, the film unit got ready to apologize through Raksha. To this extent, producer Vakada Appa Rao and music director Gurukiran arranged press meet and informed about the compromise. Director Vasu also wrote to the Bhajrangdal seeking apology over hurting the religious sentiments through the lyric. Bhajrangdal representative Pratap and Raksha president CVL Narasimha Reddy took part in the meet.

Pyramid Saimira is going to release Rajnikanth's bilingual film - Kathanayakudu in Telugu and Kuchelan in Tamil - with a startling 1200 prints all over the world on July 31st, it is confirmed. Teja happy with Kayka feedback
The climax of Kayka, Teja's latest film, is under brisk progress in Vizag and surrounding areas. Teja said that the output of the film's Rajasthan schedule with two heroes and a heroine (all debutants) had come out well. Thanks to the workmanship of cameraman PC Sriram, the beauties of Jaisalmer, Bikaner and Jodhpur were captures in the song sequences and talkie. Chakri scored music. Case against Chandramohan's wife
A private petition has been filed against Jalandhara, wife of former hero and character artiste Chandramohan at Vijayawada local court. A group of victims of Gold Quest Company have filed this petition against the woman, and on 13 others. The petition contended that Jalandhara and the names cited had lured them into the company with false promises. The honorable court is expected to issue further proceedings in the case in a couple of days.

Srikanth-Charmme in Malaysia

Rajasekhar, Jeevita join Cong
Actor Rajasekhar and his spouse Jeevita today joined the Congress party. The couple accompanied by their supporters took out a moderate rally from their residence to Gandhi Bhavan, Hyderabad. Their membership was ratified in the presence of chief minister Dr. YS Rajasekhar Reddy, PCC chief D. Srinivas and State Cong affairs incharge Veerappa Moili. Jeevita told the reporters that they joined the party not for any posts and position, but to serve the party in the interest of the poor and downtrodden sections. To note here, the couple has been making pro-congress statements for the last few months, more so after the attack on them at Punjagutta.

Ready against Chiru: Rajasekhar
Actor Rajasekhar, who joined the Congress Party along with his wife Jeevita today, said that he is ready to contest against his screen-colleague Chiranjeevi in the forthcoming elections, if the Cong high command allowed him to do so. "We are attracted towards the policies of Sonia Gandhi and look forward to spread them further in the public. With that sole objective we have joined the Congress," he said.

The banks of Sileru River, which a few days back turned into watery grave for three dozen greyhounds in Vizag-Orissa border, is now the shooting spot for Allari Naresh film titled Dongalabandi. Polluru falls under the Sileru belt is the location, where a tribal hamlet set is erected. Made on RS Network banner and produced by RS Naidu, it is directed by Vegesna Satish. The shoot will continue till July 24th with which the talkie would be done. Tanya Malishka, Puja Bharati, Venu Madhav and Kovai Sarala are also taking part in the shoot.

Mallanna unit in Hyd from 23rd
The shoot of Mallanna (Kandaswami in Tamil), starring Vikram and Shriya, in the direction of Sushi Ganeshan and produced by Kalaipuli Thanu will begin in Hyderabad from July 23rd. Important scenes would be shot in Ramoji Film City and Film Nagar area, Thanu said. The unit recently finished its Mexico schedule with vital scenes. Made on V Creations banner, it has music by Devi Sri Prasad.

Hari Om, starring Nisha Kothari and Madhushalini as heroines opposite debutant Sekhar, is under brisk postproduction works and gets ready for release early August, with its audio planned this month end, said its producers Pashant and Varma. Ramana Lok is the director. This "action love story" also has an array of female roles played by Puja Bharati, Apurva and Kausha. Ajay Patnaik, RP's brother, made his debut music director. This film happens to be the second straight for Nisha Kothari after Okka Magaadu. Superstar Krishna played a guest role.

TSR makes eye-donation
Popular producer and former minister T. Subbarami Reddy announced donation of his eyes while inaugurating an eye donation camp in Visakhapatnam. He said he would richly facilitate those who come forward to donate their eyes after their demise. Comedian Brahmanandam, who also took part in the program, said the activities of Subbarami Reddy looked very odd to him initially, but "I understood the greatness in those gestures, later."

Krishna met YSR
Actor Krishna today evening met Chief Minister Dr. YS Rajasekhar Reddy at his camp office, Hyderabad. He said that he cherished longstanding friendship with Rajasekhar Reddy. When asked about whether his meeting had any political significance, he said that he was a staunch supporter of the Congress party right from the beginning. To note here, Krishna was elected to the Lok Sabha from Eluru in West Godavari in the 1989 general elections, but lost in 1991 after Rajiv Gandhi's assassination.

Sivaji as villain in Indumati
Sivaji, a busy hero in the lighter vein films received a push with Mantra, giving a signals to the filmmakers that he could also do serious roles even with negative touches. Latest, he is going to play a full-fledged villain role in a female-oriented film Indumati. Sivaji says that he is not going to limit himself to the hero roles alone, but all roles which have scope to elevate him as an all-rounder. Rajni daughter in Kathanayakudu
Latest surprise about Rajni's Kathanayakudu is that his daughter Soundarya Rajnikanth will be appearing for a few seconds in the film over a song sequence. Directed by P. Vasu, the flick has a song – Cinema Cinema – which is said to have been shot as a tribute to the South Indian cinema, completing its 75 years. A good number of star actors, technicians, distributors and those who have been closely working in the industry would be seen in the sequence. GV Prakash, music director of Kathanayakudu and nephew of AR Rehman, is one among them, reports said. Much-talked about aspect of the film is the 20-getups of the superstar.

YSR acted as CM in mookie
Chief Minister Dr. YS Rajasekhar Reddy today took part in the shoot of Visu Films International film as "Chief Minister". Produced by Y. Sonia Reddy in the presentation of CC Reddy, the film is a mookie (no dialogues) on the lines of Kamal Hassan's film Pushpaka Vimanam. The sequence was shot on Dr YSR and comedian Brahmanandam at the CM's camp office in Hyderabad at 4.10 pm. PA Arunprasad is the director. V. Srinivasa Reddy is the cinematographer. CC Reddy said: "We planned the shooting schedule for Chief Minister YSR without disturbing his regular schedules and party activities. He appears as the CM on the screen. Brahmanandam plays the key role, which can be termed as the hero. At the same time, YSR's role also can be called that of the hero's role. I sincerely thank YS Rajasekhar Reddy (garu) for accepting our request and acting as CM in our film. The film will have a beautiful social message. Thirty percent of the shoot is completed." It is known that YSR had a couple of months ago accepted to do the role as the CM in this Visu Films movie.

Hansika quits, new girl in
Hansika Motwani has opted out of Pawan Kalyan's Puli, reports said. The reason is said to be her inability to give bulk dates at a stretch to the film. Hence, the vacancy is filled up with one Nakasha. At present, the shoot in under brisk progress in city locales. Directed by SJ Suryah, the film recently underwent extensive shooting at Talakona forests in Chittoor district. Jyothi Krishna (who acted in Ali's Tinnama Padukonnama Tellarinda) is also roped in as another female lead. Whether she plays the second fiddle or another girl is expected is not known yet.

Sindura Gadde watched Sangamam
Former pageantry queen Sindura Gadde today watched the 7.00 pm show of her debut film Sangamam at Screen 5, Prasads Multiplex, Hyderabad. Her parents and some family friends were with her. During the intermission, some enthusiastic audiences reached out to her and congratulated the girl. She continuously kept smiling with mouth wide-open at the audiences who passed by her after the screen came down for the show. Some audiences felt Sindura resembled that of Parvati Melton in the aspect of height and side angle, while others said she has similarities with Keerthi Reddy.

Ullasamgaa postponed to 24 July

Made on Manoranjan Entertainments, an NRI Ramana Pemmaraju produced it. The film's shoot was completely done in the US cities. The subject is about the lifestyle of the overseas Telugus there. Kurkure releasing on July 11
After a big production delay, Kurkure, starring Duvvasi Mohan and Bhuvaneshwari, is releasing tomorrow (July 11th). Made on Siva Arts productions, highlights are said to be Telangana accent by Duvvasi and a score of parody songs, first time bulk on Telugu screen. Former smalltime actress Lahari plays the second female lead. Junid makes his debut as director.

I belong to no party now: Mohan Babu
Veteran artiste Mohan Babu said that at present he belonged to no political party. He told this to media at a village in Chinnagottigallu Mandal in Chittoor district, where he participated in the brahmotsavams of a local temple. Speaking to the media, he said that he couldn't say which party he would join. To note here, Mohan Babu was expelled from the TDP a decade ago.

Rajasekhar as Lokanayakudu
Hero Rajasekhar's production house named after his daughters – Sivani Sivatmika Movies – has registered a title "Lokanayakudu" with the AP Film Chamber of Commerce. The title Lokanayakudu became popular as the title for versatile actor Kamal Hassan with his latest film Dasavataram, which also has a title song. Film song for degree students
Mayamai pothunnadamma manishannavaadu… the song penned by Andhesri for Red producer and star R. Narayana Murthy in the film Errasamudram (released on May 1) has found its place in the Telugu text book of the II year Degree students in all universities in Andhra Pradesh. Andhesri told Idlebrain that it will come into effect from the academic year 2009-2010; and the state education department passed proceedings to this extent.

Mahesh Babu's film Varudu (title in vogue) will have its regular shooting from July 16th. Deepika Padukone (of OSM fame) is mostly likely to be the heroine, sources said. Trivikram Srinvias directs the film with Singanamala Ramesh as producer on Kanakaratna Movies.

Allu Arvind met Election officer
Allu Arvind, brother-in-law of Chiranjeevi, today met the state chief election officer Dr. IV Subba Rao in his chambers at the Secretariat, Hyderabad. He is said to have discussed with the official with regard to the procedures of the party registration, and election symbol. He is said to have shown much interest to know about the latest map of the assembly and LS constituencies post the territorial reorganization. Dr. IV Subba Rao later told the media that he had clarified to Allu Arvind when he expressed queries about the schedules about the enumeration of new voters in the state. When the media turned around Allu Arvind, he skipped direct answers.

Chandra Siddarth's heroine hunt
Director Chandra Siddarth said that selection of the heroine for his forthcoming film starring Sharwanad will be taken up in a couple of days. "It has become a very difficult thing to find the right heroine these days. We are also trying the option of going in for a new girl." In this context, he denied the buzz that Bhumika and Kamalinee were considered for his project. He further said there was no second hero in the film, but only solo by Sharwanand.

Four heroines for hero Prabhas’s Raju
Raju is the title under consideration for the proposed film of Gopikrishna Movies starring rebel star Krishnam Raju and his screen-heir Prabhas, jointly for the first time. Four heroines are expected to costar Prabhas. Produced by Krishnamraju, the film will be launched in August. The production house had earlier made hit films like Manavuri Pandavulu, Amaradeepam and Tandra Paparayudu.

Jeevita about Gorintaku protests
Hero Rajasekhar's spouse and director Jeevita today clarified that the scenes in Gorintaku, which amounted to belittle the physically challenged sections, were not intentional, but accidental in tune with the storyline. "Rajasekhar had even done a prime role as handicapped person in the film Villain." (He also acted as mentally deranged person in the film Seshu directed by Jeevita). Responding to MRPS agitation, she said stirs like these against dialogues and scenes would do more harm to the producers and distributors when they form vital parts in the films. "Generally, the films hit the screens after thorough censoring," she maintained. However, she said she would be careful in such matters hereafter.

Protests galore against Gorintaku
Hundreds of MRPS activists and physically challenged led by its leader Manda Krishna Madiga today stormed the Censor Board office at Masab Tank, Hyderabad. They are protesting against some scenes in Rajasekhar's recently released film Gorintaku, which allegedly disgraced the self-respect of the PH. The police had tough time controlling the surging protesters when they tried to gatecrash into the building. This led to a tense situation. Meanwhile, the MRPS today led a similar agitation with a big gathering of the physically challenged at Hanmakonda in Warangal district. The agitators squatted in front of Anand theatre. As a result the morning show was stopped. Some social organizations also held objections against the controversial scenes in the film.

Temple for Namita dropped
Wild rumors that a temple was constructed for actress Namita spread all over the Tamilnadu in the last couple of days, creating sensation in Kollywood. But, Namita Fans Association president Selvam clarified that no construction was taken place so far. "For the last several months, we have been requesting Namita to approve our plan for constructing a temple for her. But, she didn't give her consent for the reasons that such a temple construction would bring trouble as what had happened in Kushboo's case earlier. For the time being, we shelved the idea." Newspaper reports say that an ardent fan Jyothi from Nellai in South TN is conducting social service activities in the name of Namita. He has also initiated the idea of constructing the temple for the actress.

Prabhas in Editor Mohan’s son direction
Hero Prabhas is going to do a film in the direction of Raja (son of Editor Mohan and director of Hanuman Junction). The flick will be produced by Editor Mohan. Trisha is considered to be the heroine. The film is expected to be launched in a couple of months.

Vyjayanthi to launch a TV channel
The prestigious banner Vyjayanthi that completed 30 years now is going to start a TV channel very soon. Swapna Dutt – elder daughter of Aswini Dutt – is taking active interest in this project and the recruitment process is going on now. Fans of Mahesh Babu today performed Sudharshan Yagam in a local temple at Chikkadpalli in Hyderabad. The ritual was said to have been performed seeking the betterment of social conditions. The recent social service activities of Krishna-Mahesh Babu fans gave vent to wide talk about their political intentions. However, comedian Dharmavarapu Subramanyam, who holds a key post in the government's cultural wing, clarified that Sudharshan Yagam was done to invoke the Rain god. Cheating case against Prakash Raj
The city police today filed cheating case against actor Prakash Raj over violation of film-shoot norms. The case was registered under Sections 420 and 402 of IPC based on the complaint from producer Prasad. The said producer launched a film titled Sidhhu in 2005, with Raghuvaran and Prakash Raj playing lead roles. Prakash Raj had declined to take part in the climax shoot, leading to a loss of Rs .40 lakh to the producer. With the same contention, the producer approached the local criminal court, which prompted the Punjagutta police to proceed against the actor. Earlier, the MAA and Producers Council tried more than half a dozen times to arrange a coordination meeting, but in vain. To note here, the Producers' Council recently slapped a non-cooperation stricture against Prakash Raj.

BDC releasing July 11
Brahmanandam Drama Company, which stars Brahmanandam in the lead role, is set for release on July 11th. The flick is the free remake f Bollywood hit Bhagam Bhag. Sivaji and Ravikrishna are the two male leads. Kamalinee Mukherjee and new girl Sameeksha are the female lead. A press meet was arranged today to brief about the film's highlights and for songs projection. Debut director Srikanth said that the film had come out extremely well with comedy as the king thanks to the hilarious performance of Dr. Brahmanandam. Sivaji plays the role of Govinda, while Ravi Krishna does that of Akshy Kumar. Saikarthik scored music.PK Rao and K. Kishore are the producers, who said that the film was actually set for release two months ago, but got delayed due to technical reasons.

Sridhar’s Sneha Geetam
Sridhar Reddy of Marura Entertainments (music label) is going make his debut as a director with a film titled ‘Sneha Geetam’. This film will have all new faces playing three male leads and three female leads. Lagadapati Sridhar will produce this film on Larsco Entertainments banner. Sunil Kashyap composes music and PG Vinda handles camera. This film will go to floors in the month of August and is slated for the release in December 2008.

Mumaith Khan in Telugu basic instinct
Target, the celluloid murder mystery, starring Mumaith Khan in the shoes of Sharon Stone, is getting ready for release in August. Sivabalaji, who so far played the roles of either jealous or doting lover, is set to play a Michael Douglas. It is directed by debutant Ramesh Raja (disciple of Vijayabapineedu and Muppalaneni Siva). "Going by the subject, Mumaith plays the role of an arrogant and sexy novelist (of crime thrillers). Sivabalaji plays the honest cop. Both artistes have ample scope to perform in Target. A gory murder takes place, which exactly is planned and executed in the novelistic way. The police suspect the heroine (Mumaith) from all angles. The detection of the murder mystery is taken up by a dynamic cop (Sivabalaji). The busting of the mystery forms the climax. Highlights are 1 hour of Digital Intermediate work, four songs, raking background score by Koti and four-and-half-minute climax fight between Mumaith and the main villain, with full of graphics and ropes." The film was launched in January last and took 45 working days over a budget of Rs. 3.5 crores.

No disgrace to PH in Gorintaku
There are no scenes in Gorintaku (Rajasekhar-Meera Jasmine film) that would hurt the sentiments of the physically handicapped or any social segment or community, clarified director VR Pratap today. His clarification comes in the wake of MRPS leader Manda Krishna Madiga's objection to certain scenes, claimed as derogatory to the dignity of the physically challenged. "This is complete family entertainer. The dialogues and scenes are situational and not intended at any group. However, we are ready to remove any objectionable scenes or dialogues if the MRPS leader could watch the film and suggest," Pratap said. To note here, Manda Krishna pointed out some distasteful scenes seemingly hurting the PH.

Vizag as India's No. 1 city: ANR
Akkineni Nageswara Rao said that any business enterprise which moves ahead with public credibility will sure turn successful. He launched the Lucky Draw at a popular music shop in Vizag. He said it was for the first time that he attended such a small function in his life. A Chennai-based cultural organization has brought out a documentary on the songs composed by famed playback singer and music director Ghantasala of the yesteryears. The documentary projecting the hit songs of Ghantasala will dwell into his experiences those days through the interviews of his contemporaries, mostly singers, music directors, directors and producers. The documentary is produced by Ghantasala's daughter-in-law Parvati Ghantasala. Janaki and PS Srinivas are associated with its publicity to benefit fans of Ghantasala worldwide. Venky, Ramcharan at 7K City Run
The 7 K Run thrilled the health-conscious Hyderabadis today. It took off at Secunderabad grounds and culminated at St. Francis College. It was launched by Badminton player Pullela Gopichand. Film stars Venkatesh, Ramcharan Teja, Varun Sandesh and Cricketer VVS Lakshman were among the dignitaries who took part in the Run. Venkatesh and Ramcharan reciprocated the gesture of the participants with autographs and friendly interaction. Venkatesh said this kind of mass programs would bring in awareness among the youth and old as well about health. Hundreds of students joined the Run.

Mahesh B'Day planned big way
Fans of Mahesh Babu today organized a meet at Basheerbagh Press Club, Hyderabad. Megastar becomes grandfather
Srija, megastar Chiranjeevi's younger daughter, today gave birth to a baby girl at a private hospital in Hyderabad. She married Sireesh Bharadwaj, a city-based engineering student last year at Aarya Samaj. On the arrival of a girl-child into their family, being the firstborn, Chiru's wife Surekha and son Ramcharan visited the hospital and called on Srija. Allu Arvind also accompanied them. It comes as a happy moment for the mega family members to rejoice.

Happy Birthday to Kalyanram

Telugu film industry over years has got a very strong overseas market in the US, Europe and elsewhere, said hero Allu Arjun, who today took part in the 10th ATA conclave in New York. He performed few steps and a somersault on the dais to the music of his films much to cheer thousands of participants. "I always wondered as to how the Telugu community held this kind of great unity. This is for the first time that I could watch a big gathering of thousands of Telugu people here in US. A few years ago, the overseas market for Tamil films was 10 times more than Tollywood. Now, I find the business for our films as strong as Tamil industry. The guys here are dancing to the Telugu songs. I am extremely thrilled." Before leaving the dais, he said: "This is a word from mavayya Chiranjeevi. I told him (Chiru) that wherever I go people are asking me about your political entry and party. What answer do I have for them? He said: The right time is coming soon. He asked me to cheer you all without losing the smile on my face." Hero Raja also spoke at length. Hare Ram, the latest film of Nandamuri Kalyanram, is set for release on July 18th. The film stars Priyamani as heroine. Harshavardhan directs the film. Ram-Hansika film titled Maska
Maska is the title confirmed for the film, starring Ram and Hansika Motwani in the lead. It is already known that it is an MS Raju production in the direction of B. Gopal, considered a very crazy combination in the industry. MS Raju also provides the screenplay. The unit already finished its opening schedule that lasted for ten days. The second schedule will commence from tomorrow (July 5th).Chakri scores music. Sekhar V. Joseph handles the camera. Other than Hansika, the next female lead is to be finalized.

Offensive scenes in Kantri removed
Director (of Kantri film) Meher Ramesh today tendered his apology to Dalits and said immediate steps would be taken to remove the objectionable scenes from the film, which amounted to disgrace the community. This is in tune with the 24-hour deadline marked by MRPS leader Manda Krishna Madiga to the film unit (hero, producer and director) demanding apology from them. He alleged that some scenes in the movie showed Ambedkar statue in the backdrop of illegal activities. He termed it as a heinous attack on the dalits by upper castes. In this context, Meher Ramesh said: "We never made such scenes intentionally. I tender my apology to Dalits for the scenes had hurt their feelings."

Removes scenes by Sunday: Manda Krishna
Fresh in the wake of Kantri director Meher Ramesh's apology and statement that the objectionable scenes in the film would be immediately removed, MRPS leader Manda Krishna once again warned that if the scenes in question were not removed by Sunday, agitations would be held in front of the theatres showing the movie and the Censor board office. He spoke to reporters today in Hyderabad.

Dasavataram thrilled me: Mahesh Babu
Kamal Hassan's latest film Dasavataram thrilled hero Mahesh Babu to a great deal. After watching the film, the young star poured out his feelings: "It is extraordinary. Kamal is one and the only actor in India to perfectly chisel out ten different roles in the film. The makeup and body language attached to each of the ten characters is superb. It is a big thrill to see five characters simultaneously in some scenes. Each of them is done wonderfully. Hats-off to Kamal. I congratulate KS Ravikumar and Ravichandran for making Dasavataram with high standards." Mahesh Babu's pleasure at Dasavataram assumed much significance.

Dasavataram shares in AP
Producer Aaskar Ravichandran today thanked the audiences for making Dasavataram a big hit. He said that the collections of the film stood strong surpassing their expectations and creating a sensation. Made on Aaskar Films banner, it is directed by KS Ravikumar. Siri Media representative PD Prasad said that this Kamal's film with ten getups raked up a record share of Rs. 3.5 crore in just two weeks in Nizam area. Ceded distributor Sobharani said that the film collected a share of Rs. 1.6 Crore in two weeks in the region, and still going strong in the third week with housefuls. A communiqué said: Two week share in Krishna – Rs. 70 lakh; Guntur – Rs. 75 lakh; East and West – Rs. 95 lakh; Vizag – Rs. 1 Crore. The producer said that more details pertaining to the collections in the comings weeks would be made available soon. Interestingly, Dasavataram's Hindi version would be releasing on July 11 – as Dasavathar.

Tollywood stars for ATA meet in NY
The Tenth three-day conclave of ATA, which began on July 3rd, will see the participation of a big number of Tollywood stars. They include former heroine Roja, glam dolls Charmme and Sneha, to form the special attraction at the venue. Devi Sri Prasad is conducting a musical night. Other artistes to make it to the function are Kota Srinivasa Rao, Rallapalli, Gundu Hanumantha Rao and Venu Madhav. Apart from this segment, a good number of character artistes and TV artistes will take part in the event. While some had already reached New York, the remaining is on their way.

Bigtime comedy in Chintakayala Ravi
Venkatesh starrer, Chintakayala Ravi with its caption Software Engineer, gets ready to evoke laughter in the theatres soon. Producer Nallamalupu Bujji said the film would enthrall the audience on the lines of Venky's previous films. Two songs were shot on Venkatesh in US, one each with Anushka and Mamta Mohandas. Raju Sundaram is the choreographer. A major chunk of talkie was also shot. The next schedule would commence from the second week in Hyderabad, Vizag, Rajahmundry and surrounding areas. Yogie, the new comer, took up the project as a prestigious venture. Vishal-Shekar duo (of OSM fame) has scored excellent beats. Ravindra Babu handles the camera.

Tea…Samosa…Biscuit in pipeline
After giving a cool message oriented film Mee Sreyobhilashi, its producer CC Reddy of Visu Films gets ready for the next with its title Tea…Samosa…Biscuit. He said Babji is being introduced as the director for this film. "The film is a mirror to the prevailing social conditions. Comedy is given the giant treatment. At present, story discussion is going on. The selection of the right cast and vital crew is not yet completed. The shoot would commence in September. Going by the subject, it has nearness to the thoughts of the youth," Reddy said. Dialogues are by Ramesh Chappala. Dr. Y. Sonia Reddy is the producer. Babji also provides the story and screenplay.

TV pals Friends in movie format
The successful TV series – Friends – will soon be appearing in the movie format. The lead characters that played pals have already got into the project in principle, prompted by the success of Sex and City, another small screen entertainer with big screen treatment. There have been simmering rumors for the last four eyars that the six stars in Friends - Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry and Matt LeBlanc. The proposed film will be produced by the Warner Brohters and the project is expected to be completed in 18 months." What's held back a Friends movie so far is that people were worried that Jennifer had simply become too famous to play Rachel again," reports said. However, it's a sigh of relief for the production venture with an yes from Jennifer.

Gogula, Srilekha sing for Koti music
Ramana Gogula, Srilekha Music directors Ramana Gogula and MM Srilekha have turned playback singers to the title song – Kausalya Nachchave.. Andamtho Gichchave.. Anchethe Nachchave – of Srikanth-Charmi film Kausalya Supraja Rama. Koti is the music director. Ramajogayya Sastry penned the lyric. Made on Suresh Productions, it is produced by D. Ramanaidu and director is Surya Prasad. Ramanaidu said: "Talkie part is finished on July 2nd. Two songs would be canned at scenic locales of Lankavi and KL in Malaysia between July 14 and 22. On return to Hyderabad, the climax would be finished." Gauri Mumzal is another heroine.

Don't leave new voters: Allu Arvind
Registration of new voters should be taken up like a mass movement. This is the appeal of Allu Arvind, producer and Megastar Chiranjeevi's brother-in-law to the fans, today. He addressed an impressive gathering of megafans and mahila activists of Chiru's proposed party at RNR auditorium, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad. "Still, thirty percent of the youth has not been enrolled in voters' list. Instead of organizing camps and rallies, you have to concentrate on the voters' registration," he told them. Chiru's advisor and aide Dr. Mitra urged the fans to take up the exercise like a yagnam.

Manda Krishna accuses Kantri
The MRPS leader Manda Krishna Madiga turned his guns at Tollywood. Watching the recent film Kantri (starring NTR), he took objection to a particular scene in which a group of youth were shown in the backdrop of Ambedkar statue as wastrels prone to take up clandestine activities such as circulating the fake currency notes, besides projecting the concerned area as an adda for similar unlawful activities. "This amounts to disgrace to the Dalit community," the community leader maintained, launching a tirade against the upper castes. He demanded an unconditional apology from hero NTR and producer Ashwini Dutt.

Sharwa-Genelia film soon
Sharwanand, who romped to limelight with Gamyam, is going to do a film to be jointly produced by two doctors. Rajasekhar, a new face, who earlier worked in Sumanth Arts banner, is going to direct the film. Genelia is approached to play the heroine, pending her approval, sources told Idlebrain. The film is expected to be launched in December, after Chandra Siddarth's film.

Style producer's Hollywood project
Lagadapati Sridhar, known for his successful films Style and Evadigola Vadidhe, is contemplating to make a Hollywood film, with its shoot to take place completely in the USA. In this direction, he in touch with some technicians and production managers in LA, reliable sources told Idlebrain.

Rajni as Tiruvalluvar in Hollywood film
Superstar Rajnikanth might don the mantle of Tamilnadu's celebrated saint poet Tiruvalluvar (First or Second century AD) in a forthcoming Rs. 50 Crore Hollywood flick titled Saint Thomas. This Apostle was widely believed as the initiator Syrian Christianity in Kerala and parts of Tamilnadu. The actor who played Jesus in Hollywood film Passion of the Christ is being approached to play the Jesus role in this film. Dr. Paulraj Loudhuswami has scripted the subject. Kollywood stars Ajit, Vikram and Vijay are set to do the guest roles. Tamilnadu Chief Minister Karunanidhi is expected to inaugurate the film soon. There is a controversial belief that both Tiruvalluvar and Saint Thomas were contemporaries. This is a Rs. 50 Crore budget film.

Rajasekhar to play Mohanlal in comedy
After much-hyped pre-production hungama of Satyameva Jayate, now hero Rajashekar has signed his next for producer Maganti Gopinath in the direction of Ramprasad. Ramana Gogula is roped in for the music. It is the remake of a Malayalam hit movie titled Hello. Kajal was tried as the female lead, which didn't happen for lack of dates. Her parents had even watched Hello, expressing their satisfaction. Latest, Suhasi is under consideration. The story is about a lawyer (played by Mohanlal), an alcoholic, who leaves his practice and hits the bottle after his family disapproves of his love. In Malayalam, Parvati Melton did the heroine. We have to wait and see how the angry young man will fit into this out and out comedy genre.

Chandra Siddarth-Sharwanand film in Aug
Critically acclaimed director Chandra Siddarth is going to direct Sharwanand in a new film to be produced by the Zee TV concern, reliable sources told Idlebrain. This is said to be a family entertainer, completely away from action and vulgarity. Heroine hunt is underway for a new girl. It will be officially launched in August, it is further learnt.

Don't destroy dad's image: Lakshmi Parvati
Lakshmi Parvati, widow of NTR, today launched a counter attack against actor Balakrishna, saying "he is bringing disgrace to his father (NTR) by criticizing our relationship." Talking to reporters in Hyderabad, she said: "In fact, the local court of Narasaraopet in Guntur district granted me the divorce on April 15th, 1993. NTR announced at a public meeting (at Tirupati on September 10th, 1993) that he would marry me provided I should be willing for that. Based on my willingness, I and NTR became couple the next day as per the Hindu Marriages Act. I didn't marry him for his properties. The court recognized me as NTR's wife and included my name as member in the Basavatarakam Trust."

Teja's Kayka unit for Rajasthan
The unit of Teja's Kayka, starring debutants, will be moving to Rajasthan on a four-day schedule (Jul 6-9) for canning of a song sequence in the backdrop of desert and forts. But for this song, the entire shoot is said to be over. PC Sriram handles the camera. Music is by Chakri. Teja not only directs but also produces the film. Reports say Teja wants to release the audio of the film after its screen release.
