Deepthi Mathuri, a city student took time out from her grueling SSC examination schedule to win accolades as a musical sensation at Zee Telugu's 'Sa Ri Ga Ma Pa' finals held at sprawling Mountain Heights of city's most coveted cultural hub, Shilparamam here on Sunday.

In the presence of 2,000 viewers and million others glued to the television sets for primacy in the musical battle, Deepthi topped the contest and won a plot of 200 sq.yds sponsored by Srimitra Estates Pvt Ltd apart from a cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000 from Zee Telugu.

An Engineering student, Pallavi Suri was declared the runner-up and won a cash prize of Rs.75,000 from the channel apart from Rs.25,000 sponsored by Sree Mithra Estates Pvt.Ltd. Four other toppers also were presented cash prizes.

The contest which had the viewers SMSing their preference among the top two had Deepthi receiving 57 per cent of SMSes in her favour.

The event also unveiled dance performance by Padma Sri Shobhana and felicitation to the legends of Tollywood – Smt Ravu Bala Saraswathi (the first south Indian female playback singer), Smt P Suseela, Sri Veturi Sundara Ram Murthy (lyricist) and an exuberant performance by music directors Koti, Ramana Gogula, Mani Sharma and Devi Sri Prasad.

The show was hosted by popular singer Ms. Sunitha and adjudged by well-known music directors Mr. Koti and Mr. Ramana Gogula of Tollywood. Eminent personalities of Tollywood like K. Vishwanath, D. RamaNaidu, Ashwini Dutt, Dr. Rajasekhar, Bhoomika Chawla were also present.

The performance by singer Karunya along with 60 kids to announce the launch of "Little Champs", the next series of 'Sa Ri Ga Ma Pa' on Zee Telugu, was the highlight of the show.
