Closing ceremony - 14th International Children's Film Festival

S. Jaipal Reddy who until recently held the Information and Broadcasting portfolio gave away awards to the winners of 14th International Children's Film Festival at a function held at Lalitha Kala Thoranam on the night of 20th November 2005. Chinese film "The Story of Xiao Yan," directed by Fang Gangliang, bagged the Golden Elephant Award. Hayat (Iran), the 80-minute film directed by Gholam Reza Ramezani, won Children's Jury Golden Plague Award with a cash prize of Rs. 50,000. The Silver Elephant for the Best Film in the section went to the 101-minute Iranian film, "Album," directed by Reza Heydarnejad. The Silver Elephant for the Best Child Artiste in this section went together to Mahsa Saeedi (Album-Iran) and Hamed (The Squeaking Shoes-Iran).

Central Minister S Jaipal Reddy said, "Quality is very important while making children's films. These children's films should teach good moral values and motivate them. Though India is one of the best movie producers in the world from the quantity point of view, quality needs to improve. Indian film producers should work towards it."

Dasari said, "Though Government is giving around Rs. 30 lakhs as subsidy amount for each children film, it is not even sufficient to bear the outdoor production cost. The Government should give more financial aid to help making good children's films. AP Film Development Corporation is spending around 8 crores a year for improving the standards of filmmaking."

State minister Satyanarayana Rao said that the Government would take all the necessary steps for improvement of quality of children's films. Nafisa Ali said that she would be organizing digital children's film festival which would feature the films made by kids in the next year.

Venkatesh, Jackie Shroff, Suhasini, Jayasudha, Tabu and KV Ramanachari also spoke during this occasion.
