
‘Cancer Crusaders Invitation Cup – 2012' celebrates World women's week with an all women ‘ Celebrity Play off'

Hyderabad, March, 2012: ‘Cancer Crusaders Invitation Cup – 2012' - an overwhelming success with over 150 golfers participating, concluded today with a colourful ‘ Celebrity Play off.' The tournament was organized as a fund raiser and cancer awareness initiative by Cancer Crusaders of CURE Foundation at EMAAR MGF Boulder Hills Golf Club on March 3 rd & 4 th , 2012.
The all women ‘ Celebrity Play off' had women from all walks of life and was organized to celebrate the World Women's week and spread awareness about the two most prevalent cancers amongst women – Breast and Cervical cancers. The celebrity participants included Ms. Banda Karthika Reddy, Ex Mayor of Hyderabad; Ms. Katherine Dhanani , Consul General, Consulate General of the United States of America, Hyderabad; Ms. Shobana Kamineni , Director - new initiatives, Apollo Hospital Enterprises Ltd.; Dr. (Mrs.) Shashi Reddy , Doctor & W/o. Dr. P. Vijay Anand Reddy; Fitness Trainer Ms. Dinaz Vervatwala ; Former Mrs India Mrs. Shilpa Reddy ; Enterpreneur Ms. Ajita Reddy ; Cine Actresses Ms. Samantha & Ms. Supriya Shailaja (RISHI Movie); Pop Singer Ms. Smitha and Ms Samantha Reddy, Cancer Survivor.
According to Dr. Vijay Anand Reddy , Founder, CURE Foundation & Director, Apollo Cancer Hospital , Hyderabad ; there has been a rampant increase in the incidence of breast cancers amongst urban women and cervical cancer amongst rural women. We decided to spread awareness about these diseases by concluding the Cancer Crusaders Invitation Cup – 2012' with an all women ‘ Celebrity Play off.' Being World Women's Week, it also provides us an opportunity to pay tribute to all the triumphant women.
The event was coordinated by Mr. Sanjay Pan Head of EMAAR MGF Boulder Hills Golf Club.
Format for the Celebrity Putting Contest
Each player was given a ball with her name written on it. Each participant putt the ball into a designated hole on the putting greens. All had to reach close to the hole and the last one was eliminated in each round.
Catch: Different holes for different rounds. The distance to the hole was increased for each round to make it difficult for players.
