Vidhya Balan Walks for Hyderabad Designer GAURANG Shah to unveil ‘KALPAVRIKSHA’ his latest summer/spring collection ‘at Indian Textile Day, Lakmé Fashion Week (LFW) Summer/Resort 2015

Kalpavriksha, the 'wish-fullfilling' divine tree in Hindu mythology is the inspiration for Gaurang’s Lakme Fashion Week Spring/summer 2015 collection this season at Indian Textile Day.

He played with his transcendental jugalbandi between jamdani, phulkari, chikankari and kalamkari striked an exquisite balance between heritage heirloom and contemporary designs in signature craft-couture flowy anarkali, ghaghras and sarees

Making the announcement Award winning Textile and Weave Revivalist Gaurang Shah says this collection is a representation of the tree of life woven by the jamdani weavers from Andhra Pradesh and Bangladesh symphonized with phulkari, kalamkari and chikankari. It is also a perfect tribute to the beautiful summer friendly fabric and our ancient mythology. Kalpavriksha branches bore every kind of fruit and flower one wished for, and the apple of the tree was believed to have the virtue of conferring eternal life upon human that tasted it.

Surprise element was Actress Vidhya Balan she amazed everyone by taking the ramp in a beautiful Pink Organza Kanjeevaram Saree along with the Designer. She expressed her “WoW” for Gaurang’s work, “everyone by now knows my love for Kancheevaram, when Gaurang told me that he had an Organza Kanjeevaram which I never heard of till date, I was intrigued and surprised as well. I love wearing handlooms. I am happy to be here on Indian Textile Day”. She looked beautiful in a gorgeous pink/gold sari designed by Gaurang Shah as they glided down together on the ramp to thunderous applause.
