The trailer of Phanindra Narsetti’s 8 Vasantalu was dropped by the makers on Sunday and it traces the coming-of-age journey of a young girl named Shuddhi Ayodhya (played by Mad fame Ananthika), promising an experience that will tug at your heartstrings.

Clocking a little over two minutes, the trailer opens with a purohit stating to Shuddhi that women can’t light the pyre but she is having none of it. She says, “We can give birth to them but can’t we light the pyre and give them salvation?” The next segment of the trailer is devoted to Shuddhi learning different forms of martial arts to defend herself and the skills come in handy when a set of goons attack her in a slaughterhouse. Next up, we get to witness her romantic side as the vignettes of her first love unfold in the picturesque backdrop of Kashmir valley but this relationship doesn’t last long, taking a toll on her mentally. She finds love again in Ooty with a writer. However, given her past experience, she now understands that love is just a part of life not the destination. Soon there comes a point where she sacrifices her love for her mother. To know what happens next, we have to wait until this Friday.

In conclusion, the trailer beautifully captures the many moments of the protagonist’s life as she tries to find love and herself. In fact, it offers more than just a preview; it’s a call to join her journey that feels both personal and relatable to young women of these days. The simple yet profound visuals suggest that Shuddhi’s quest for love, her questions to the patriarchal society and her sacrifices will be dealt with maturity. The heartbeat of the trailer is Ananthika and she sinks her teeth into the character, bringing a sense of dignity and grace. The background score is soothing.

Also featuring Hanu Reddy, Ravi Duggirala, Sanjana, Kanna Pasunoori, Swaraj Rebbapragada and Sameera Kishore, 8 Vasantalu is Phanindra's second feature film after the critically-acclaimed Manu. Mythri Movie Makers have produced it.
