Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar believes life comes with its ups and downs, and instead of giving up out of fear, one must keep doing their work with sincerity. As part of promotions for Kannappa, Akshay Kumar gave an interview alongside Manchu Vishnu to Idlebrain Jeevi and Ram Venkat Srikar, answering several questions with humor and warmth.
Responding to one question, he said, “I’ve never been discouraged by the results of my films. I just kept doing my work, and success found its way back to me. Ultimately, time decides everything.” He added that his constant hard work led to successful films like Sky Force, Kesari, and Housefull. He expressed confidence that Kannappa would also be another milestone in his career.
Reflecting on his journey, he shared that whether his film Sarfira collected ₹2 crores on opening day or Housefull 5 made ₹20 crores, he remained emotionally steady. He feels fortunate to have played divine roles—Lord Krishna in Oh My God and Lord Shiva in Kannappa.
Akshay gave high praise to Manchu Vishnu as a producer, particularly appreciating his commitment to storytelling and his clarity during narrations. He recalled that although the narration took two hours, he was mentally ready to take on the role within the first five minutes of their conversation.
Akshay also opened up about the challenges of switching between two films simultaneously, which once made it difficult for him to fully enter his characters. That’s why he now chooses to finish one film before starting another—and did the same with Kannappa.
He expressed surprise that comedy actors are often singled out as “comedy heroes” during award shows, unlike actors in romance or action genres. He pointed out that if romantic or action actors are not categorized separately, comedy actors shouldn't be either, since making people laugh is incredibly hard—harder even than making them cry.
He recalled how, despite the fear of criticism and multiple rejections from the industry over five years, he chose to do films like Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and Padman out of a desire to spotlight important women’s issues. He also mentioned critically acclaimed films based on true events such as Airlift, Rustom, Baby, and Special 26.
Akshay shared that he constantly engages with a young team, discussing ideas and adapting to changing times. During the shoot of an anti-narcotics ad, when he didn’t understand the meaning of a few terms, he even asked his son to explain them to ensure an accurate performance.
He concluded by emphasizing the unmatched experience of watching a movie in a theatre with hundreds of people—laughing together, crying together, and saluting the national flag. This, he said, is why he prefers going to the theatre with his family rather than watching films on OTT at home.
Interestingly, although he doesn’t come from a film family, Akshay revealed that when he was five years old, his father played Lord Shiva in a small movie during the 1970s. He's still on the lookout for that film.

తన సినిమాల్లో మొదటిరోజు రెండు కోట్ల కలెక్షన్లు (సర్ఫిరా కు) వచ్చినప్పుడు ఎలా ఉన్నానో ఇరవై కోట్లు కలెక్షన్లు (హౌస్ ఫుల్ 5 కు) వచ్చినప్పుడు కూడా అలాగే ఉన్నానన్నారు. తన జీవితంలో ఓ మై గాడ్ సినిమాలో కృష్ణుడిగా, కన్నప్ప సినిమాలో శివుడిగా ఇద్దరు దేవుళ్ళ పాత్రల్లో నటించడమన్నది తను పొందిన అదృష్టమన్నారు.
నిర్మాతగా మంచు విష్ణుకి మంచి మార్కులే వేశారు అక్షయ్ కుమార్. కన్నప్ప సినిమా నిర్మాణం పట్ల, కథను వివరించే విధానంలో విష్ణు నిబద్ధత నచ్చిందన్నారు. కథ పూర్తిగా వినడానికి రెండు గంటల సమయం తీసుకున్నా విష్ణుతో మాట్లాడిన మొదటి అయిదు నిముషాల్లోనే కన్నప్ప సినిమాలో నటించడానికి తను మానసికంగా సిద్ధమైపోయానన్నారు.
గతంలో ఒకే సమయంలో రెండు సినిమాల్లో నటించడం వలన పాత్రల్లో ప్రవేశించడం విషయంలో కొన్ని ఇబ్బందులు ఎదుర్కొన్నానని, అందుకే ఒక సినిమా పూర్తి అయిన తరువాతనే మరొక సినిమాకు వెళ్తానన్నారు. మరొక సినిమాకు పోకుండా కన్నప్పకు కూడా అలాగే చేశానన్నారు. ఇటీవల చాలా సందర్భాల్లో చాలా వేదికల్లో హాస్య పాత్రల విషయాల్లో కామెడీ హీరో అంటూ ప్రత్యేకంగా చూడటం తనకు ఆశ్చర్యం కలిగిస్తుందన్నారు. అవార్డులు ఇచ్చే విషయంలో కూడా రొమాన్స్ నటించే హీరోలకు బెస్ట్ రొమాన్స్ హీరో, యాక్షన్ నటించే హీరోలకు బెస్ట్ యాక్షన్ హీరో ఇవ్వనప్పుడు కామెడీ పాత్రలు చేసే హీరోలకు ప్రత్యేకంగా బెస్ట్ కామెడీ హీరో అంటూ ఇవ్వడాన్ని అక్షయ్ కుమార్ తప్పుపట్టారు. హాస్యాన్ని పండించడం అంత సులభం కాదన్నారు. ప్రేక్షకుడిని నవ్వించడం కంటే ఏడిపించడమే నటుడికి తేలికన్నారు.
చాలామంది నటించడానికి భయపడినా, అయిదేళ్ల పాటూ ఇండస్ట్రీలో చాలామంది తిరస్కరించినా, సమాజంలో స్త్రీలకు ఎదురయ్యే కొన్ని సమస్యల పట్ల ప్రపంచానికి తెలియచేయాలన్న క్రమంలోనే టాయిలెట్ మరియు ప్యాడ్ మ్యాన్ లాంటి గొప్ప సినిమాలు తను ఎంతో ఇష్టపడి చేయడం జరిగిందని చెప్పారు. ఆ కోవలోనే వాస్తవ సంఘటనల ఆధారంగా ఎయిర్ లిఫ్ట్, రుస్తోమ్,బేబీ, స్సెషల్ చబ్బీస్ లాంటి మంచి సినిమాలు చేశానన్నారు. రోజురోజుకీ పరిస్థితులు మారిపోతున్నాయంటూ, తన దగ్గర యువతరంతో కూడిన ఒక టీమ్ ఉందని, ఎప్పటికప్పుడు వాళ్ళతో కూర్చొని ప్రతీ విషయాన్నీ చర్చిస్తానని చెప్పుకుంటూ వచ్చారు. మాదక ద్రవ్యాలకు వ్యతిరేకంగా ఇటీవల నార్కోటిక్స్ సంబంధిత ఒక యాడ్ తీసే భాగంలో కొన్ని పదాలకు అర్ధాలు తెలియకపోవడంతో తన కుమారుడిని అడిగి తెలుసుకొని మరీ నటించానన్నారు.
ఇంట్లో ఇద్దరు ముగ్గురు మధ్య కూర్చొని చూసే OTT అనుభూతి కంటే సినిమా వందల మంది మధ్య కూర్చొని అందరితో పాటూ నవ్వడం, ఏడుపొచ్చినప్పుడు ఏడవడం, దేశపు జెండాకు సెల్యూట్ కొట్టడం లాంటి అద్భుత మైన థియేటర్ అనుభూతే గొప్పదన్నారు. అందుకోసమే కుటుంబ సమేతంగా తరచూ సినిమా థియేటర్లలోనే సినిమాలు చూస్తానన్నారు. తనది సినిమా నేపధ్యమున్న కుటుంబం కాదన్నారు. కాకపోతే తన వయసు ఐదేళ్లున్నప్పుడు ఒక చిన్న సినిమాలో తన తండ్రి గారు కూడా డెబ్భై శతకంలో శివుని పాత్ర వేశారని, ఇప్పటికీ అదే సినిమానో వెతుకుతున్నామని తెలిపారు.
