HYDERABAD: In an exclusive video from the ‘Coolie’ press meet in Hyderabad, the legendary Superstar Rajinikanth opened up about his admiration for Nagarjuna Akkineni’s antagonist role in the much-awaited film.
Rajinikanth shared that when director Lokesh told him about the character of Simon, he was so impressed that he immediately wanted to take it up. However, he was surprised when Coolie Director Lokesh revealed his intention for Nagarjuna to play Simon instead. Despite initial doubts about Nagarjuna’s willingness, Lokesh was confident he could convince him. “Lokesh promised that he would make him agree at any cost,” Rajinikanth recalled.
The Superstar, who shared the screen with Nagarjuna after 33 years in ‘Coolie,’ praised the actor’s ageless charm and fitness. “He still looks as fit and fine as I saw him years ago,” Rajinikanth added. When he asked Nagarjuna for the secret to his fitness, the latter credited it to a combination of consistent exercise, a disciplined diet, and, of course, "some good genes from my dad."
Rajinikanth didn't hold back his admiration for Nagarjuna’s portrayal of Simon, even admitting, "He did so well in Simon’s character that I don’t think I could have done it better." It’s clear that the two iconic stars share a deep respect for each other and their craft, making ‘Coolie’ an even more exciting collaboration for fans.
