“Crazy Kalyanam,” starring ‘Navarasaraya’ Dr. Naresh Vijay Krishna, Anupama Parameswaran, Tharun Bhascker and Akhil Uddemari of “Raju Weds Rambai” fame in the lead roles, is an upcoming family entertainer. The film is being produced by passionate producer Boosam Jagan Mohan Reddy under the Arrow Cinemas banner as Production No. 2 and is directed by Badrappa Gajula. The movie is set for a grand worldwide theatrical release on October 16, coinciding with the Dasara festival. In a recent interview, Dr. Naresh Vijay Krishna spoke about the film’s highlights, his character and the special sequence that he believes will be one of its major attractions.

Today, Telugu cinema has to compete with films from across the world, and convincing audiences to come to theatres has become increasingly challenging. Successes and failures are part of the industry, but the overall success rate remains low. In Bollywood, trends evolved from Rajesh Khanna’s films to Amitabh Bachchan’s movies, while Telugu cinema witnessed different phases through the films of NTR, ANR, Krishna and Chiranjeevi. Film genres keep changing in cycles, and family entertainers are currently finding favour with audiences. When filmmakers make an honest and genuine family entertainer, audiences are willing to embrace it. Films such as “Singeetham” and “Maa Inti Bangaram” stand as examples of this trend. “Crazy Kalyanam” is arriving in the same spirit as an honest entertainer. Director Badrappa belongs to the new generation of filmmakers, while producer Jagan Mohan Reddy is a passionate young producer who has put his heart into this project. Dasara is a major festival for Telugu people, and I believe families will thoroughly enjoy “Crazy Kalyanam” in theatres during the festive season.

“Crazy Kalyanam” is like a game of four pillars, with my character, Tharun Bhascker’s character, Anupama’s character and Akhil’s character serving as its four pillars. My role has a little more prominence than the others. In the past, Hollywood made films in which one central character was surrounded by several other important characters. If my character is considered the hero of this film, it is because the meaning of heroism has changed. A hero need not necessarily perform songs, fights and romance. A character who takes the lead in the story and wins the audience’s appreciation is also a hero. The film narrates a story set in a middle-class family in a village, focusing on the emotional struggles between parents and children. Audiences will connect strongly with these emotions. The casting of all four principal characters has worked out perfectly. If even one of them were missing, the film’s strength would have diminished by at least ten per cent.

I compared director Badrappa to K. Viswanath garu because he tells stories in a fresh way without moving away from nativity. He gives new meaning to his characters and brings their journeys to satisfying conclusions. Badrappa has handled “Crazy Kalyanam” in a similar manner, bringing the kind of emotional depth seen in K. Viswanath garu’s films. That is why I confidently made the comparison. Films like “Crazy Kalyanam” are rare. My character has both emotion and fun. Tharun Bhascker’s Balraju is a character who can be found in almost every village, and this could become one of his memorable roles. Anupama’s character represents the middle-class young women we see in every town, while Akhil has also delivered a good performance.

Among the films arriving this Dasara, “Crazy Kalyanam” stands out as a family entertainer that combines humour and emotion. Families can enjoy it together during the festival. There is no graphic violence or bloodshed in the film; it is driven entirely by entertainment and emotion. The audience has responded well to the teaser and trailer, and we hope the film receives similar appreciation. I also wish success to all the films releasing during the festival. Director Badrappa narrated the story to me in detail, scene by scene, over nearly two hours. Even during the narration, I thoroughly enjoyed the emotions and humour in the story.

One of the film’s major highlights is an approximately six-minute sequence in which I portray all nine emotions, or Navarasas, through conversations with nine characters amid a setting involving around 350 characters. Each interaction brings out a different emotion. Initially, I was nervous about performing such a lengthy scene because there was no reference available for me to follow. When I shared my concern with Badrappa, he told me that I would be the reference for the Navarasa scene. I eventually completed the entire sequence in a single take. This is also the first time we are using my title ‘Navarasaraya’ in connection with a film.

I have performed in several dialects, and director Badrappa is an expert in the Telangana dialect. I spent four to five days dubbing for this film and stood while dubbing to ensure that my delivery matched the emotions of the scenes. Since I have been involved with the film from the scripting stage, I am confident about its success, and I have been expressing that confidence during the promotional campaign. Our producer, Jagan Mohan Reddy, is extremely passionate about the film, which is why he is promoting it on such a large scale. I believe he will remain a producer in this industry for many years. The emotional bond between a father and daughter is universal and timeless, and audiences will experience that emotion in our film.

I choose films based on the characters I am offered. I have received pan-India film offers but have declined some of them. For me, there is no distinction between a small film and a big film; if the character appeals to me, I am willing to take it up. Many young directors are approaching me with stories these days. Badrappa narrated the story of “Crazy Kalyanam” to me first, and the project was planned after I agreed to be part of it. I will always work hard to honour the trust and respect that these young filmmakers place in me.

- క్రేజీ కల్యాణం సినిమా నాలుగు స్తంభాలాట లాంటిది నేను, తరుణ్ భాస్కర్, అనుపమ, అఖిల్.. ఈ నలుగురి క్యారెక్టర్స్ నాలుగు ఫిల్లర్స్ లాంటివి. అందులో నా పాత్రకు ఇంకొంత ప్రాధాన్యత ఎక్కువగా ఉంటుంది. గతంలో హాలీవుడ్ లో ఇలాంటి సినిమాలు వచ్చేవి. ఒక మెయిన్ క్యారెక్టర్ ఆ పాత్ర చుట్టూ మరికొన్ని పాత్రలు ఉంటాయి. నా పాత్ర ఈ సినిమాకు హీరో అంటే..హీరోయిజంకు ఇప్పుడు అర్థం మారిపోయింది. పాటలు, ఫైట్స్, రొమాన్స్ చేస్తేనే హీరో కాదు. కథకు లీడ్ తీసుకుని మెప్పించే పాత్రే హీరో. ఒక ఊరిలో మధ్య తరగతి కుటుంబంలో జరిగే కథ ఇది. తల్లిదండ్రులకు పిల్లలకు మధ్య జరిగే ఎమోషనల్ స్ట్రగుల్ ఈ మూవీలో ప్రధానాంశం. ఈ ఎమోషన్ కు ప్రేక్షకులు బాగా కనెక్ట్ అవుతారు. ఈ కథకు నాలుగు ప్రధాన పాత్రల్లో సరైన నటీనటులు కుదిరారు. వాళ్లలో ఎవరు లేకున్నా ఈ సినిమా స్ట్రెంత్ పదిశాతం తగ్గిపోయేది.

- డైరెక్టర్ బద్రప్పను నేను కె విశ్వనాథ్ గారితో పోల్చాను. ఎందుకంటే ఆయన తన సినిమాల్లో నేటివిటీకి దూరంగా వెళ్లకుండా కొత్త దారిలో కథ చెబుతూ పాత్రలకు ఒక కొత్త అర్థాన్నిస్తూ సినిమా రూపొందిస్తారు. ఆ పాత్రలకు ఒక మంచి ముగింపు ఇస్తారు. బద్రప్ప కూడా క్రేజీ కల్యాణం సినిమాను అలాగే డీల్ చేశాడు. కె విశ్వనాథ్ గారి సినిమాల్లోని ఎమోషన్ ను ఈ చిత్రంలో బద్రప్ప తీసుకొచ్చారు. అందుకే ధైర్యంగా బద్రప్పను కె విశ్వనాథ్ గారితో పోల్చాను. క్రేజీ కల్యాణం లాంటి సినిమాలు అరుదుగా వస్తుంటాయి. నా పాత్రలో ఎమోషన్ తో పాటు ఫన్ ఉంటుంది. తరుణ్ భాస్కర్ చేసిన బాలరాజు పాత్ర ప్రతి ఊరిలో ఉంటుంది. అతనికి ఒక మెమొరబుల్ క్యారెక్టర్ ఇది అనుకోవచ్చు. ఊరిలో ఉండే ప్రతి మిడిల్ క్లాస్ అమ్మాయిని అనుపమ పాత్ర ప్రతిబింబిస్తుంది.అలాగే అఖిల్ మంచి రోల్ చేశాడు.

- ఈ దసరా పండక్కి వచ్చే చిత్రాల్లో మంచి ఫన్, ఎమోషన్ ఉన్న ఫ్యామిలీ ఎంటర్ టైనర్ క్రేజీ కల్యాణం. దసరా పండక్కి ఈ సినిమాను ఫ్యామిలీస్ తో కలిసి బాగా ఎంజాయ్ చేస్తారు. ఇందులో రక్తపాతాలు లేవు ఉన్నదంతా ఎంటర్ టైన్ మెంట్, ఎమోషన్ మాత్రమే. మా సినిమా టీజర్, ట్రైలర్ ను ప్రేక్షకులు బాగా ఆదరిస్తున్నారు. సినిమాకు కూడా అలాంటి సక్సెస్ అందిస్తారని ఆశిస్తున్నాం. పండుగకు వచ్చే అన్ని సినిమాలు బాగుండాలి. డైరెక్టర్ బద్రప్ప ఈ కథను రెండు గంటల సేపు సీన్ టు సీన్ డీటెయిల్డ్ గా నెరేషన్ ఇచ్చాడు. ఆయన కథ చెబుతున్నప్పుడే అందులోని ఎమోషన్, ఫన్ ను బాగా ఎంజాయ్ చేశాను. ఈ సినిమాలో నేను నవరసాలు పండిస్తూ 350 క్యారెక్టర్స్ మధ్య 9 మంది క్యారెక్టర్స్ తో ఒక్కొక్కరితో ఒక్కో ఎమోషన్ తో డైలాగ్స్ చెప్పే దాదాపు 6 నిమిషాల లెంగ్తీ సీన్ ఒకటి ఉంటుంది. ఆ సీన్ చేయడానికి మొదట భయపడ్డాను. ఎక్కడా రిఫరెన్స్ కూడా లేదు. బద్రప్పతో ఈ విషయం చెబితే నవరసాల సీన్ కు మీరే రిఫరెన్స్ అన్నాడు. సింగిల్ టేక్ లో ఆ లెంగ్తీ సీన్ చేశాను. అందుకే ఈ సినిమాలో నా నవరసరాయ టైటిల్ ను ఫస్ట్ టైమ్ వాడుతున్నాం.

- నేను అన్ని యాసల్లో నటించాను. తెలంగాణ యాసలో మా డైరెక్టర్ బద్రప్ప ఎక్స్ పర్ట్. ఈ సినిమాకు నాలుగైదు రోజులు డబ్బింగ్ చెప్పాను. ఈ సినిమాలోని ఎమోషన్ కు తగినట్లు రావాలని నిలబడి డబ్బింగ్ చెప్పాను. ఈ మూవీ స్క్రిప్ట్ నుంచి ట్రావెల్ చేస్తున్నా కాబట్టి నాకు మూవీ సక్సెస్ మీద కాన్ఫిడెన్స్ ఉంది. ఆ మాటే ప్రచార కార్యక్రమాల్లో చెబుతున్నాను. మా ప్రొడ్యూసర్ జగన్ మోహన్ కు సినిమా మీద చాలా ప్యాషన్. అందుకే ఈ రోజు మా సినిమాను ఈ రేంజ్ లో ప్రమోట్ చేస్తున్నారు. ఆయన ఈ ఇండస్ట్రీలో చాలాకాలం ప్రొడ్యూసర్ గా ఉండిపోతారు. ఫాదర్ అండ్ డాటర్ ఎమోషన్ యూనివర్సల్, ఎవర్ గ్రీన్. ఆ ఎమోషన్ ను మా మూవీలో చూస్తారు.

- నేను క్యారెక్టర్ నచ్చితేనే సినిమా చేస్తాను. పాన్ ఇండియా ఆఫర్స్ వచ్చాయి. కొన్ని నేను చేయలేదు. నాకు చిన్న సినిమా పెద్ద సినిమా అనే తేడా లేదు. క్యారెక్టర్ బాగుంటే ఏదైనా చేస్తాను. ఈ రోజు కొత్త దర్శకులు ఎంతోమంది నా దగ్గరకు వచ్చి కథలు చెబుతున్నారు. క్రేజీ కల్యాణం కథ కూడా బద్రప్ప నాకే మొదట కథ చెప్పాడు. నేను ఓకే అన్న తర్వాత సినిమాకు ప్లాన్ చేసుకున్నాడు. ఈ యంగ్ ఫిలింమేకర్స్ నాపై పెట్టుకున్న నమ్మకాన్ని, గౌరవాన్ని నిలబెట్టుకునేలా కష్టపడతాను.
