As part of Thammudu promotions, producer Dil Raju shared several interesting insights in an interview with Idlebrain Jeevi. When the topic of Game Changer came up, Dil Raju candidly detailed the reasons behind the film’s failure.
He explained that post-COVID, he believed only a massive combination could bring audiences back to theatres, which is why he greenlit Game Changer. The original plan was to complete the shoot within one and a half years and release the film before the last general elections, but that couldn’t be achieved.
The second and third waves of COVID created additional hurdles, and the massive success of Kamal Haasan’s Vikram led to the restart of Indian 2, causing further delays in Game Changer’s shoot. One major misstep, he admitted, was not including a clause in the agreement with director Shankar that Game Changer should be completed before the director could start any other project. Had he done that, he said, “I would have been safe.” As a result, even Ram Charan’s time was wasted significantly. Charan didn’t agree to take on another project during that time due to concerns that it would affect continuity in terms of looks.
Dil Raju emphasized that if a film fails, it’s the producers, distributors, and exhibitors who bear the brunt far more than others involved. He added that in the future, he will only do another film with Ram Charan when he gets a script that satisfies him completely.
While he doesn’t consider Game Changer a “bad” film, he pointed out that there was a consistent stream of negative propaganda from the time of the shoot to the release. Because director Shankar is a big name, Raju said he couldn’t get involved in the story discussions. He merely wrote down any doubts he had and passed them along on paper. He acknowledged Ram Charan and Chiranjeevi’s support in helping release the film.
Ultimately, he compared the situation to “Karna’s death having a hundred reasons,” saying Game Changer failed for many reasons - leaked piracy , negative reviews a day ahead, and several other compounding factors that led to its disastrous performance.

కరోనా రెండో వేవ్ మూడో వేవ్ లు కూడా వరుసగా ఇబ్బంది పెట్టడం, కమల్ హాసన్ గారి విక్రమ్ సినిమా పెద్ద హిట్ కావడంతో ఇండియన్ 2 కూడా రీస్టార్ట్ అవ్వడం లాంటి కారణాలతో గేమ్ ఛేంజర్ షూటింగ్ కు అనుకున్న దానికంటే ఎక్కువగా జాప్యం జరిగిందన్నారు. శంకర్ గారితో జరిగిన ఒప్పందంలో గేమ్ ఛేంజర్ షూటింగ్ పూర్తి తరువాతనే ఇంకొక షూటింగ్ ఉండాలన్న షరతును చేర్చకపోవడం కూడా ఆ సినిమా ఆలస్యానికి కారణం అన్నారు. అలా చేర్చి ఉంటే తను సేఫ్ అయ్యేవాడినన్నారు.దాంతో రామ్ చరణ్ కు కూడా చాలా సమయం వృధా అయిందన్నారు. ఆ సమయంలో వేరే సినిమాకు వెళ్తే వెళ్తే లుక్స్ విషయంలో తేడాలొచ్చేస్తాయన్న ఆలోచనతో రామ్ చరణ్ మరొక సినిమాకు ఒప్పుకోలేదన్నారు సినిమా ఫలితం తేడావస్తే మిగిలిన వాళ్ళతో పోలిస్తే ఎక్కువ ప్రభావం నిర్మాతలపైన, డిస్ట్రిబ్యాటర్లు, ఎగ్జిబ్యూటర్ల పైనే పడుతుందన్నారు.
ఈసారి తను పూర్తిగా సంతృప్తి చెందే మంచి స్క్రిప్ట్ తన చేతికి వచ్చినప్పుడే రామ్ చరణ్ తో భవిష్యత్తులో మంచి సినిమా చేస్తానన్నారు. గేమ్ ఛేంజర్ సినిమా అంత బ్యాడ్ సినిమా కాకపోయినా షూటింగ్ జరుగున్నప్పుడు నుండి రిలీజ్ వరకు నెగటివ్ ప్రాపగాండా జరిగిందన్నారు. శంకర్ పెద్ద దర్శకుడు కావడంతో కథ విషయంలో ఇన్వాల్స్ అవ్వలేకపోయానని, తనకొచ్చిన సందేహాలను పేపర్ మీద మాత్రమే రాసి ఇచ్చానని చెప్పుకొచ్చారు. ఈ సినిమా రిలీజ్ విషయంలో ే రామ్ చరణ్, చిరంజీవి గారు కూడా సహకరించారన్నారు. కర్ణుడి చావుకి వంద కారణాల మాదిరి గేమ్ ఛేంజర్ పైరసీ అవ్వడం, రిలీజ్ ముందు రోజే నెగటివ్ రివ్యూలు రావడం లాంటి చాలా కారణాలు ఈ సినిమా ఘోర పరాజయానికి కారణాలన్నారు.
