Superstar Mahesh Babu’s next with Trivikram Srinivas has got a title. It is Guntur Kaaram. While Amaravati Ki Atu Etu was another option considered, it seems the director has preferred Guntur Karam. The first glimpse of the film–highly inflammable mass strike– was unveiled on (late) superstar Krishna’s birthday today at Sudarshan theatre, Hyderabad.
Playing out over one minute four seconds, the glimpse begins with Mahesh, wearing a red checkered shirt and sporting sandals, removing a wooden stick from a ramshackle hut-like structure and smashing it onto one of the goon’s neck. His long shot and close up is revealed from the space where the goon is grounded. He later lights a beedi with a match box, stating in Guntur slang: “Enti atta susthunnav? Beedi 3D lo kanabaduthunda?” As he wipes his pants after pinning down all the goons, there’s a jeep which flies in the air and falls back on the ground upside down, while the dust from its impact is spread all over. The glimpse ends with Mahesh stylishly sauntering in a market yard wearing goggles and smoking again, while Guntur mirchi load seems to be discharged in the background. The bit song playing in the background–with the use of minimum instruments–significantly enhances the mass appeal of the glimpse further.
Guntur Kaaram marks Mahesh and Trivikram reteaming up after Athadu and Khaleja, and naturally there are sky-high expectations surrounding it. The project, produced by Chinababu under Haarika & Hassine Creations, storms into theatres on January 13, 2024. Pooja Hegde and Sree Leela are paired opposite Mahesh, while Thaman is the tunesmith.
