The trailer of Manchu Vishnu-top-lined Kannappa is out and it promises an epic transformative tale of a tribal warrior into a pious Shiv-bhakt.

Roughly three minutes in length, the trailer opens with a young Vishnu (played by his own son Avram Bhakta) hurling a stone at a deity, while stating that there is no God. Soon, we are introduced to forces who are hell-bent on obtaining a Vayu Lingam from a hamlet which is headed by Sarath Kumar but Thinnadu (played by Vishnu) is in their way. It’s literally impossible to overpower him and secure Vayu Lingam. There’s also Shiva-bhakt (Mohan Babu) who is ready to offer his life to preserve the secret behind Vayu Lingam. The story takes a turn when Thinnadu is banished from the village for disrespecting the elders and not believing in God. When Thinnadu is at a crossroads, Rudra (Prabhas), at the call of lord Shiva, enters his life and transforms him into an ardent Shiva devotee, setting the stage for a transformation story that blends valour and devotion of the highest degree.

Summing up, the trailer promises a visual extravaganza that offers exciting action, drama, devotion and a touch of romance against an emotionally stirring backdrop. While the treatment could’ve been a little more refined, Kannappa’s story, with such interesting cameos thrown into the mix, is a recipe for a box office success. Vishnu is sincere as the tribal warrior Thinnadu but his ability to captivate the audience with his emotional prowess, after the transformation, is likely to determine the fate of the film. Prabhas and Mohan Babu’s cameos also take the spotlight, while Akshay Kumar as lord Shiva and Mohanlal as Kirata add gravitas to the narrative.

Also featuring Kajal Aggarwal, Preity Mukundhan, Brahmanandam, and Mukesh Rishi, Kannappa, directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, is bankrolled under the banners of Twenty Four Frames Factory and AVA Entertainment. Interestingly, Vishnu has also penned the story and screenplay of the film scheduled to release on June 27.
