Manchu Manoj, heir of the Manchu family, is a leading man who, much like his father Mohan Babu, is drawn to portraying unique and unconventional characters. Right from the beginning, Manoj has shown a strong inclination toward multi-starrer films. With Mirai, he is taking on a full-fledged villain role for the first time. As part of the film’s promotions, he gave an interview to Idlebrain Jeevi where he shared his thoughts with a humorous and subtle tone.
Manoj revealed that he had once promised Teja (Sajja) that he would do any role in his film. True to that word, Teja brought this script to him. Since the story was excellent and his role was equally powerful, he agreed to be part of it. Manoj clarified that he wouldn’t accept a film where only one character is highlighted while others are sidelined. His role in Mirai is that of a modern-day Ravana — a strong and rule-defining character who dares to take on Rama himself.
Talking about Mirai, he said: “We shot action scenes on a bridge that stands a kilometer tall. I play a character who believes that power shouldn’t be inherited. We traveled across four countries for this film. The shoot in Sri Lanka was particularly tough. But Teja and Shreya faced even more difficulties during the Nepal schedule. The action I’ve done in all my past films combined doesn’t compare to what I’ve done in Mirai. I underwent special training for this role. Mirai gave me 100% satisfaction as an action film.”
Comparing cinema then and now, Manoj said the days where movies revolved solely around heroes are gone. Today, cinema itself is the hero. Much like the character Black Sword in Mirai, Manoj shared that he personally believes in equality in real life too.
He also addressed the tensions within his family, saying that like in every family, misunderstandings arose — but they unexpectedly escalated. At present, each of them is focused on their respective professional lives.
Looking ahead, Manoj shared that he’s gearing up for a massive period film titled David Reddy, set between 1897 and the 1920s. He’s also working on a comedy entertainer called Athar Saayibu, which he promises will leave audiences in splits.
Though he once wished to remake Rayalaseema Ramanna Chowdary, Manoj now feels that timeless classics made by legends should be left untouched. He emphasized that one can only commit time and energy to something if the heart truly connects with it.
Manoj concluded by saying that he values being among people and cherishes his bonds across towns and cities. That’s what truly keeps him happy

మంచు మనోజ్, మంచు వారి వారసుడు. తండ్రి మోహన్ బాబు మాదిరే విభిన్న పాత్రలతో ముందుకు వెళ్లాలన్న ఆలోచనతో సాగుతున్న కథానాయకుడు ఆయన. మొదటి నుండీ మల్టీ స్టారర్ సినిమాల వైపు శ్రద్ధ చూపించిన హీరోల్లో మనోజ్ ఒకరు. 'మిరాయ్' లో మొదటిసారిగా ప్రతినాయకుడు పాత్రలో కనిపించబోతున్నారాయన. ఆ సినిమా ప్రమోషన్లో భాగంగా 'ఐడిల్ బ్రెయిన్' జీవీకి ఇంటర్వ్యూ ఇచ్చారు. చాలా అంశాల పట్ల నర్మగర్భంగా సమాధానాలిచ్చారు మంచు మనోజ్.
గతంలో ఓ సందర్భంలో తన సినిమాలో ఎలాంటి పాత్ర ఉన్నా చేస్తానని అతనికి మాట ఇచ్చానని, దాంతో ఈ కథను తేజానే తన వద్దకు తీసుకొచ్చాడన్నారు. కథ కూడా అద్భుతంగా ఉండటం, అందులో తన పాత్ర కూడా ధీటుగా ఉండటంతో ఒప్పేసుకున్నాన్నారు. సినిమాలో ఒకే పాత్రను ఎలివేట్ చేసుకుంటూ సాగే కథ అయితే ఒప్పుకోనని, తనది తనకంటూ నియమాలున్న రావణుడి లాంటి పాత్ర అని, సాక్షాత్తూ రాముడితోనే వైరం పెట్టుకునేంత శక్తివంతమైన పాత్రన్నారు.
'మిరాయ్' గురించి చెప్తూ.. "ఈ సినిమా కోసం కిలోమీటర్ ఎత్తున్న బ్రిడ్జ్ మీద యాక్షన్ సీన్స్ చేశాం. ఇందులో అధికారం వారసత్వంగా రాకూడదుకొనే పాత్ర నాది. ఈ సినిమా కోసం నాలుగు దేశాలు తిరిగాం. శ్రీలంకలో షూటింగ్ జరిగినప్పుడు బాగా కష్టమనిపించింది. నాకంటే నేపాల్ షూటింగ్లో తేజా మరియు శ్రియా ఇంకా ఇబ్బందులు ఎదుర్కొన్నారు. ఇంతవరకూ నా సినిమాలో చేసిన యాక్షన్ సన్నివేశాలు ఒకెత్తు అయితే, 'మిరాయ్' లో చేసిన యాక్షన్ సన్నివేశాలు ఒకెత్తు" అన్నారు. ఈ సినిమా కోసం ప్రత్యేక శిక్షణ తీసుకొని మరీ నటించడం జరిగిందని, తనకు వంద శాతం సంతృప్తినిచ్చిన యాక్షన్ సినిమా మిరాయే అన్నారు.
ఒకప్పటి రోజులతో పోల్చుకుంటే, హీరోల చుట్టూ సినిమాలు తిరిగే రోజులు పోయాయని, ఇప్పుడు సినిమాయే హీరో అన్నారు. 'మిరాయ్' లో బ్లాక్ స్వార్డ్ పాత్రలాగే తన నిజజీవితంలో కూడా ఈక్వాలిటీను నమ్ముతానన్నారు. అందరి వ్యక్తిగత జీవితాల్లో వచ్చినట్టే తమ కుటుంబ సభ్యుల మధ్య పొరపొచ్చాలు వచ్చాయని, కాకపోతే ఊహించకుండానే అనుకోని స్థాయికి అవి చేరిపోయాయన్నారు. ప్రస్తుతం ఎవరికి వాళ్లం తమ వృత్తి పరంగా జీవితాల్లో నిమగ్నమైపోయామన్నారు. 1897 నుండి 1920 ల కాలం మధ్య సాగే కథతో 'డేవిడ్ రెడ్డి' అనే ఒక భారీ సినిమాలో నటించబోతున్నానని, అలాగే 'అత్తర్ సాయిబు' అనే ఓ కామెడీ సినిమాతో ప్రేక్షకులను కడుపుబ్బా నవ్విస్తానన్నారు.
'రాయలసీమ రామన్నచౌదరి' సినిమా రీమేక్ చేయాలన్న ఆశ ఉన్నా చేయనన్నారు. దిగ్గజాలు చేసిన ఆణిముత్యాల్లాంటి సినిమాలను మళ్ళీ రీమేక్ చేయకూడదన్నారు. ఏదైనా చేసే పని మన మనసుకు నచ్చితేనే, ఆ పని కోసం సమయాన్ని కుదుర్చుకోగలమన్నారు. అన్ని ఊళ్ళల్లో తనకు తెలిసిన వ్యక్తున్నారని, అందుకే జనం మధ్యనే సంతోషంగా ఉండటానికి ప్రాధాన్యతనిస్తానన్నారు.
