Srikanth Nagothi, who made an impressive debut with the web film Bhanumathi Ramakrishna (2020), is back with his sophomore outing, Month of Madhu. He joined forces with his Bhanumathi Ramakrishna leading face Naveen Chandra again for the film, whose trailer was unveiled by Sai Tej at an event in Hyderabad on Tuesday.
The three-minute-30-second trailer begins with a free-spirited young woman Madhumati (Shreya Navile) from the USA landing in Visakhapatnam for a family event. She has no control over her food and is slightly on the heavier side of the weighing scale. Her mother (played by Manjula Ghattamneni) asks her to behave. Madhu fails to understand that back in the US everyone considers her as an Indian, while in India; they say she is an American. She is desperate to stay in India for some more time and understand people. She is given a month’s time. She later meets Madhusudhan Rao (Naveen Chandra), who is addicted to alcohol and who seems to be a lost man. The trailer then cuts to his life as he is seen in a divorce hearing in a court. Madhu has a love marriage with Lekha (Swathi) and they enjoy an idyllic life for some time before cracks appear in their bond. The fact that Madhu doesn’t do a job compounds their problems further. More differences seem to aggravate their relationship and Lekha, left with no option, tries to go separate ways. How Madhumati is connected to their story seems to form the surprise element.
Overall, Srikanth keeps the proceedings absolutely real and the trailer encapsulates the bond between Madhu and Lekha very well, promising a slice of life entertainer. The sync sound adds a lot of the depth to what’s going on, while the breezy background score complements the mood and increases the appeal of the trailer. Vizag seems to be another character in the film as Rajeev Dharavath’s camera work brings the place alive. Srikanth should also be lauded for extracting natural performances from his lead cast.
Slated to release on October 6th, Yaswanth Mulukutla has produced the film under Krishiv Productions and Handpicked Stories. Also featuring Harsha Chemudu, Gnaneswari Kandregula, Raja Chembolu, Raja Ravindra, Rudra Raghav, Ruchita Sadineni, Mourya Siddavaram and Kancherapalem Kishore, Month of Madhu is an Achu Rajamani musical.
#MonthOfMadhu trailer has two interlinked storylines. Madhu (perceived as a spoilt brat by parents and relatives) who is born and brought up in USA visits India for a month.
A couple of going through tough times and apply for a divorce.
